In 1996, my husband and I moved to an isolated piece of land. Our goal was eco-sustainability. Therefore, we ate no meat. Domestic animals typically use up to twenty times the natural resources to give humans the same amount of nourishment as having humans eat grains, fruits, and vegetables in their natural form (before being eaten by a domestic animal).

We both noted how much of what we had read about being a vegetarian was true for us; we felt mentally and physically great on a meat-free diet.

Oddly, we had one major surprise. In the minds of wild animals, we were no longer predators! If we were sitting outside, wild rabbits, birds of all types, and even domestic horses would walk right up next to us. We could feed rabbits inches away from us. Read the rest of this entry »

Friends of mine recently treated me to a Cheirology session, and I found myself looking forward to what I thought would be the equivalent of a palm reading. Cheirology (also known as Chirology) is referred to as both a science and an art form which analyzes the hands, whilst also considering the emotional, physical, mental and spiritual state of a person. I assumed the session would basically tell me a bit about my past and future, plus highlight some good and bad choices I’d made over the years.

However, I found it to be different from palmistry in that it is non-predictive. The concept of Cheirology is that everything is energy, which cannot be destroyed and simply transforms itself.  Thoughts and intentions are aspects of energetic relay, and the lines created in the hand through these thoughts and intentions can change as often as every three months. The popular television show Medium brought to the public eye the fact that a psychic does not live in a vacuum with her abilities. The workplace and the home are often the ‘victims’ of the efforts to help others that are the lifestyle of a psychic.

The working hours of the psychic may be long and erratic. The demands may involve great sadness, overwhelming joy, and just about every other emotional known to humankind. Anything and everything may affect psychic abilities. Psychics need understanding housemates.

A Different Type of Roommate

Every psychic is a caregiver. We act as a conduit for the energies we feel, see, touch, taste, or hear to the seeker. To better enable this process requires the psychic to recharge. Not all of us recharge in the same way. For me, time in nature or with young children recharges me. As a roommate, you will need to step aside and allow your resident psychic to recover. For most of my childhood I lived in a rural farming area surrounded by lots of woods and wildlife. And I was always so very drawn to the birds in our region in particular. The Eagles, Owls, Geese, Blue Heron, Swans, Finches, Swallows, Robins, and most of all the Hummingbirds, fascinated me so very much. Even in the cities I lived later in my life there were always Hummingbirds. They have been part of my existence since I can remember.

But, it wasn’t until I was in my 30’s, when I spoke with a Shaman that I understood why. The Hummingbird is my Animal Totem and it represents Joy.  And now I know why I have always been so drawn to them. There has been so much sorrow, violence and abuse in most of my life; it was only in staying connected to Joy that have I survived it all. The emotion and mental state of Joy has a kind of power that transcends all things that may break our bodies and our hearts. There are those who believe we may be facing extinction as a species – if we don’t change our ways. This idea is not as far-fetched as it may seem. The mass extinction of entire plant or animal families is something that has happened on several specific occasions in history.

The most well-known of these extinction events is the end of the ‘golden age of the reptiles’, when most of the dinosaur species disappeared. The small percentage that survived ultimately became the bird species that today still roam our planet. I have often wondered about the fascination children all over the world seem to have with dinosaurs. It is a subject that is a source of great enthusiasm for both boys and girls. Could it be that they intuitively remember the past, that the traumatic events of that time remains ingrained in our DNA to this very day? Read the rest of this entry »

As any pet owner knows, we work to make sure our ‘babies’ are safely housed with a warm blanket and plenty of food. At least, this is how it is for me. My animals are my children and provide me with the most unconditional love and support I could ever ask for.

Pets are little people with fur. My Tinkerbell will be the first to tell you, in her ‘Auntie Mame’ sort of way, that she is only here because she loves her mommy so much. My boy Cricket would say that he likes to lie next to me when I am not feeling so good and he tries to take the pain away. And my Polly Pocket gets sick when I get sick. I have to muster up and climb myself out of bed so that my tiny Chihuahua won’t slip into a major depression! Read the rest of this entry »

When I do a tea cup reading I allow my thoughts to run freely and my imagination becomes my intuition, as I interpret the symbols in those tea leaves for the client.

There are written guidelines as to what various shapes can symbolize, but I tend to let my imagination do the talking. Symbols can include animals, people, and all kinds of objects. Symbols grouped together create a theme, and of course the actual tea leaves often spell out letters of the alphabet and even omens.

Reading the pattern of used tea leaves is used mainly in the West now and became popular in Victorian times as a parlor game, although it is said to stem back to Ancient Greece, the Middle East and Asia, and not only with Gypsy fortune-tellers. Read the rest of this entry »

It just infuriates me how some authors and healers have capitalized on the concept of soulmates. They sell highly romanticized visions of ‘happily ever afters’ to the general public and feed the ‘love hungry’ with sugar-coated hope.

Can it a soulmate connection happen? Sure, absolutely! Anything is possible. One day you could look into the eyes of Mr. Destiny across the crowded room and hear the music swell, while your heart leaps out of your chest. And he can push everyone out of the way to rush towards you, like it happens in some perfume commercials! Then he might just hold you in his arms, before he whisks you away to marital bliss.

Yes, it can happen. But, like the majority of the population and due to the nature of our species, we’re most likely to have to kiss many frogs before we find our princes and princesses. It’s enough to make you croak…! Read the rest of this entry »
