As spiritual beings we must take care of the sacred body temples that house us. Optimal health is part of a collective cycle that merges the physical, mental, and spiritual aspects of who we are into one continuously moving energetic field. When any one of these three elements is out of balance, we miss out on the opportunity to show up for our lives with optimal focus, energy, desire, stamina, strength, and purpose.

Science has long recognized that stress has a negative impact on our entire being. I have consulted over the years with clients who complain of the physical manifestation of stress, often appearing as low energy, headaches, poor digestion, insomnia, muscle tension, and chronic pain.

However, as a spiritual practitioner and energy worker, I often also witness how stress can upset our energy fields and create blockages at the mental, physical, and spiritual level.

By getting in touch with how stressful events make us feel, we can more closely examine our personal triggers. Once we learn which events or situations are less ideal for us, we can implement methods for coping, as well as choose alternative options that are less stressful. Despite how seemingly difficult any situation is, we always have a choice to impact a different outcome or choose how we respond to the event.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, health and wellness has become a center stage issue for many of us. I find many of my clients are increasingly interested in finding ways to boost their immunity and building the body’s natural defenses.

For me it is all about feeling good and listening with greater attention to my intuition as to what foods are right for my body at this time in my life. My aim is mainly to achieve optimal health to continue enjoying the things I love, with the people I love.

In believe the fact that our glorious planet has become environmentally polluted and desecrated by humanity set the tone for the present pandemic to emerge. Our species now reflects the state of planet upon which we exist. Indeed, both our species and the place we collectively call home are now in dire need of healing.

Many spiritual traditions teach that each of us has the innate power to transform our world through our dynamic personal energy that springs forth from a greater universal presence that is known to many by different names. For some this profound source of energy may manifest as an increase in purposeful prayer or meditation. For others this stream is a continuous movement of spiritual light that transmits to every corner of the world, a bold gleaming light that knows no boundaries.

When it comes to habits, it reminds us to focus on the positive ones and that by doing so, we will achieve our goals by hitting our target. For example, I am a chocoholic, the results of which is clearly evident around my middle-aged waistline! How do I personally break the habit of a lifetime and develop a healthier relationship with chocolate? Well, the guidelines are the same for any other goal we may have:

As the saying goes: ‘out of sight, out of mind.’ My household will therefore be seeing far less sugar in the kitchen cupboards in 2022. This may seem somewhat an extreme measure, but it may help to change my family’s nutritional habits for the better. It is not so easy to maintain a sweet tooth when there is nothing to reaching out for to serve as a reward or an emotional crutch.

Remember To Reach Out This Holiday Season

We are normally accustomed to planning big get-togethers, buying many gifts, preparing lots of food and finally gathering with family and friends. In the past, these gatherings were a given, whenever feasible, and both small and large get-togethers were marked with fun, laughter, music, food and festivities.

But a global pandemic has been curtailing our carefully laid plans and we had to be to be innovative to stay connected with our loved ones. Some people live in areas with very little impact. Please remember to touch a few lonely hearts this time of year, even if it is just by way of a quick phone call or text message. Connect virtually, send a parcel or invite them to a future event to look forward to.

Extend your reach to those less fortunate as well. This time of year can be particularly difficult for those in need.  Contribute to a charity, or reach out to a volunteer group and offer your services. A willing pair of helping hands is always appreciated.

Amid all the chaos and excitement of the season, also take some time to be good to yourself. We tend to run ourselves ragged, while it just isn’t possible to keep going at maximum speed without a well-deserved break. It is important to remember that we cannot give what we ourselves do not have. Your career or business will always be there. Recharge your batteries so you will be rested, confident, and energized to help others.

Dealing With Negative Energy This Holiday Season

I have helped bring light to a client’s ongoing problems with her siblings’ argumentative nature.

I want you to know that the choice is yours if you choose to deal with these people. Remember you always have free will, even in the most dire circumstances. You don’t have to be around family members who steal your energy and drop their poison of negative energy and comments on you.

It’s unhealthy to put yourself in situations that are uncomfortable, especially when the environment is saturated with dis-ease. Sometimes you have to exercise your right to say: “No thank you, I will pass!” If you do this, you will find you have more energy for those that do treat you well and don’t talk about you behind your back.

Also, do not allow yourself to feel guilty that your not going to attend. Make positive changes this holiday season by saying no to unnecessary stress, negative people and toxic energy. Embrace your own assertiveness for the betterment of your health and mental well-being.

Take Better Care Of Yourself

I also believe that if we don’t learn a certain lesson, the Universe will simply provide another opportunity to learn that same lesson again, and this time it will be even more challenging and difficult.

A few years ago, I had been running at almost a break-neck pace. There was work; funeral arrangements twice; the birth of twins to one of my daughters; making sure the other daughter got to her radiation and chemotherapy cancer treatments; running my own household; helping my daughters with their children; and taking care of the two children who live with me.

I was worrying about everyone and everything, whether I had control or not over what was happening to them. The stress and lack of self-care took a toll, but I did what I always did: push through it as much as I could, getting as much done as I could, helping everyone around me as much as I could, and collapsing at the end of the day.

Eventually, I became severely ill with pneumonia. It got so bad my husband woke up one morning to find me passed out on the dining room floor. I have no idea how I got there or even why I would go there, I don’t remember any of it!

For months I was back and forth between home, the doctor’s office, and the hospital. I was not beating the illness and I was permanently fatigued, listless, depressed and kept losing my voice. But my solution was simply to drink more coffee, and push, push, push through it, keep going.

I became increasingly frustrated and impatient, more at myself than anyone else. I felt like a cat chasing its tail. I was not taking care of myself, and it got worse, because I pushed myself beyond my own ability to endure, unable to accomplish much, and failing all around. Then my doctor warned me in no uncertain terms that I am living my life with my thumb on the ‘self-destruct button.’ The time had come for me to make up my mind: live or die.
