Looking back on the past year and the gifts it brought is always easier than looking head-on into the unknown for answers. It is easier to understand what has been more often than to understand what lessons are to come. I wish to take a moment and reflect on what life for the past year has revealed.

It has been a year of feeling stuck! At times the seasons appeared to be unraveling and at times there was glue in the air with so much pushing and pulling—a real tug-o-war. What a year indeed! If you ever felt bi-polar this was a year of bringing a forced balance into your being whether you wanted it or not.

But more importantly it was a year of consolidation and a time of discovering what commitment and stability are all about. These are not easy efforts on our part to exam because for most of us, being practical and taking the sojourn of a Saturnal spin in life takes a great deal of patience and I must state for the record: I personally have never been very patient with my own self examinations! For me the average household chore is only temporarily rewarding, because before you know it, the serenity which comes from the cleanliness and order you’ve just created is short lived. Dust and chaos return in a flash!

On the other hand, I find ‘de-cluttering’ much more rewarding, and more so knowing that a lot of ‘stuff’ not used in a while is either going to someone who can use it, or to help in raising funds for one of the animal charities I support.

More frequently these days, people are adopting a minimalistic, feng shui approach to furnishing their homes – and also in other areas of their lives – because somewhere deep down we all long for the space and lack of gadgets and stuff that our forefathers managed quite happily without. Fall is my favorite time of year. But as the season begins to wind down and winter steps in, I can’t help but miss the beautiful plants and flowers of summer.

If you live in a four season climate like I do, you may be wondering how to fill the gap that Mother Nature leaves behind as the foliage dies. My solution is to bring the outdoors in!

For example, try going for a walk to collect things from the outdoors that you can enjoy, such as pretty rocks or cattails.

Look for the things that represent the outdoors and don’t be afraid to let them come indoors with you.

Doing so can be a beautiful reminder of the full blooms of summer and will invite additional energies from the plant kingdom into your domain, recharging and refreshing one’s spirit. Creating and maintaining a sacred space has always been a very important part of my lifestyle.

Sacred space is necessary in my life and my work, because of my sensitivities. I experience so much on a daily basis as a psychic medium, that I must have a safe space to do my work in. It would be torture and, quite frankly, a foolish thing if I did not work in such a space.

Sacred space to work and live in is so necessary for me that my entire house and yard have become my personal sanctuary of sacred energies.

I am a firm believer in Feng Shui, the ancient Chinese art of placing objects. In Feng Shui, it is believed that everything has its place, and everything in those places affects the way energy flows. Wherever I work, or live, always goes through an energetic cleansing when I arrive, and then a thorough placement of energy inside and out. Read the rest of this entry »
