The Mystical Phenomenon Of Levitation
After seeing with my own eyes my yoga teacher levitate many years ago, I am convinced that levitation is not only possible, but that anyone can achieve it through a dedicated spiritual practice.
I used to attend weekly yoga classes led by a wonderful teacher who was 76 years “young” at the time. She was vibrant and lithe enough to make us younger ones look awkward by comparison.
One evening she invited her advanced students to watch a levitation demonstration. I must admit that I was a little skeptical and did not really know what to expect, but I am always open to new spiritual experiences.
She gave a talk before the demonstration, but I don’t remember much of what she told us. What I do remember very vividly is the incredible moment when she actually floated from her horizontal position on the floor. In a trance-like state, she rose gently and was suspended about a foot (30 centimeters) in the air.
Years later, I had another unusual levitation experience. After a wonderful week-long workshop at the Arthur Findlay College of Spiritualism and Psychic Sciences in Essex, England, a large group of teachers and students from the various classes gathered for a group meditation. The powerful energy in the room that evening was indescribable.
How To Start Your Journaling Practice
Journaling is a powerful tool for personal and spiritual growth. As a spiritual practice, it can help bring to light insights that we might otherwise overlook.
However, many people never pursue it because it can seem too difficult and time-consuming to incorporate into their lifestyle, but this is not true. Getting started with journaling is much simpler and easier than people think.
First, remember that you don’t have to write entire essays in your journal. You may want to write a few pages one day, but then just a sentence or two for the next few days.
There’s really no right or wrong way to journal, so don’t create rules or expectations about how much you should write or even what you should write about. At first, you may feel like you don’t really know what you want to write about. That is okay. Don’t judge what you write and don’t pressure or censor yourself in any way. Allow yourself to write whatever you feel moved to write.
You may just want to reflect on some mundane events that happened on an ordinary day, while another day may bring up some strong emotions that you want to write about. Journaling is a great way to vent, and there is something healing about putting your thoughts and feelings on paper.
My Strange UFO Experience
It was an April day in 1983. It was a normal day at home in the quiet country setting of Delaware, Ohio. Our home was set far back from the road, on a vast expanse of pasture land with no nearby neighbors.
Nothing seemed different or out of place that day. The sky was clear, sun shine shining and birds chirping. My twin daughters and I were enjoying playing a board game in the living room.
So, imagine my shock and surprise when suddenly without warning I heard the terrible sound of what seemed like a crash or explosion right outside the front of the house. The booming sound was so loud it made the house shake.
Thinking it must have been a horrible car wreck or even a plane crash, we jumped up and ran outside. But nothing at all was out of place. There was no one there, or no sign of any accident to explain the loud sound we had heard. In fact, it was unusually quiet outside, no birds, no breeze, no sound. Only an ominous silence.
Then I sensed there was something or someone behind me, but bizarrely I found myself unable to turn around to see who or what it might be, as this energy behind me wouldn’t let me. For a few minutes I couldn’t move at all and felt a great fear for our safety.
Then I heard a telepathic voice saying, “Do not look. Do not turn. Do not move. We are not here to harm you. You and your children are safe.”
Panicked, I called for my daughters to come back into the house immediately, but noticed they were acting oddly. They did as I asked, but without turning around. Instead, they walked backwards into the house!
Strange Happenings In Other Dimensions
I can vividly recall various unusual experiences during my childhood, including leaving my body several times and then being pulled back with a dramatic jolt. The return to my body would be so jarring that it would always wake me up.
There appears to be a variety of explanations for this odd occurrence, with the main one being that it is a purely psychological sleep phenomenon related to unusual stress and trauma. But while I do not necessarily dispute this possibility, I am not readily convinced this may be the explanation in my case.
The reason I question this theory is this experience has been happening to me again lately, with a steady regularity, but with some subtle differences.
My favorite version is when I am conscious of it happening, to the extent that I am even seeing myself re-entering my body. I am also no longer ‘slamming back’ as I used to before, but rather gently easing back into my physical form…like a baseball sliding into home base. I even recall smiling because it seemed so deliciously absurd.
The next aspect that has caused me to really think again about this recurring experience, is that I can clearly see myself in two separate dimensions all at the same time. At first it took me a minute to realize what was happening, as I did not look exactly the same as my earthly self. I stared at my ‘other self’ for a few minutes, recognizing our similarities and feeling like I have met my other self before.
Well, let me tell you, I was flabbergasted and very pleased, once I realized this was indeed me, a doppelganger, one of my other selves, operating completely independently in an alternate universe. The most joyous part is that I do not have to explain myself to the myself!
