Sensitive people need to give themselves a break! I am very sensitive myself, and I consider it a gift. I wouldn’t be able to have the kind of career that I have without being sensitive. For those of us that are sensitive, it can come as a mixed blessing sometimes. The same sensitivity that allows me to empathically engage with others in an intuitive way, can also be a detriment when I allow the circumstances of this work, or of others, overwhelm me. I must be constantly careful about what I view on Facebook, and read or see in the news.
I personally abstain from following the news for the most part. My world is what I am experiencing at this present time. If we were alive 200 years ago, rather than right now, we would be clueless about most world events. However, these days absolutely everything is streamed into our conscious reality 24-hours a day, seven days a week. For those of us whose life purpose is tied in with sensitivity, it is unwise to partake in this media stream. Read the rest of this entry »
Energy protection is one of my passions. I take it very seriously. It is vital for our health and mental well-being, so we take the time to do things that will help promote our energy, health, happiness and mental clarity, right? Why then do we still find our energies being drained sometimes? Often times we don’t even realize who, or what is causing this drainage.
My grandma’s fingers are so badly crippled that she cannot text, so she asked me to do her a favor and just send a message to someone on her behalf. I knew in my heart that if I did send this for her, it would be an opportunity for the receiver to throw negativity my way, or rather attempt to. So, I kept putting it off, but she kept begging me. Devotion is a part of every spiritual path. Before you recoil in horror, it would be good for you to understand you already practice devotion.
You are devoted to many things, many people, and many concepts. You are devoted to your children, mate, friends, pets. You are devoted to a career, getting ahead, losing weight, working out, or practicing yoga. You are devoted sometimes to drugs, alcohol, self-hatred, self-loathing, unforgiveness of yourself, the relentless worship of punishing yourself for your perceived or sometimes real misdeeds.
You worship. You do. You spend hours on your practice. It comes naturally now, but did not at first. At first you had to spend hours on your practice, until it became a habit. Not only a habit, it morphed into your very identity, essential to you, your way of being, how you make decisions, how your prioritize your life. You have been doing your practice so long you forgot you created it, and carried it out until you and your practice have become virtually inseparable. Read the rest of this entry »
I love plants and enjoy sharing space with them. I several in my home and take very good care of them. I’m mindful to water them around the same time every week and I even talk to them. In many ways, I look at them as my friends.
I live in a home that doesn’t get much sunshine, so I have selected plants that require low light. While they never receive any direct sunlight, they are thriving like champs and are healthy and happy.
Plants are much like people in that sense. Some of us require a lot of people around us to be happy, the same way some plants need lots of sunshine. But some of us require lots of quiet, alone time, like some plants prefer the shade. We all recharge and thrive in different ways. Read the rest of this entry »
A few days ago, I was going through some old boxes and out fell a little scrap of paper. Curious, I picked it up, unfolded it and read the words I had written over a year ago. Now, I don’t remember writing this little note, or saving it for that matter. But what I found grabbed my consciousness and pulled me immediately into that present moment.
On this little note I had written things like, Do fulfilling work that feeds my soul and A home with lots of love and light, by the ocean and mountains and forests. It was a wish list. As I read through the items on this list, I realized that all of them had become a reality for me. I was amazed, and filled with gratitude!
Don’t get me wrong, I have my challenges and karmic lessons just like anyone else. Sometimes I forget to take stock and honor moments of gratitude for the many blessings in my life. While this ‘wish list’ shook me back into gratitude, it also got me thinking about something else – the power of intention. Read the rest of this entry »
I believe that everyone has the ability to read and understand the energy around them. The universe is made up of energy and people are connected to each other through that energy. There are ways in which people can tune into this energy to better understand their world.
So many times the answers we are looking for are right in front of us, but with the business of our lives and things going on around us, we sometimes tune that energy out. There are things you can do to better empower yourself to tune into others’ energy. By doing this you will be able to unlock answers in your own life.
First thing to do is make sure to eliminate as much stress in your life as possible. Stress will block out energy around you and distract you from being able to make sound decisions. There are many ways to tune out stress, such as learning to meditate, doing Yoga, or any physical activity or recreational outlet. Once you learn to block out stress and find a good balance of calm in your life you will start to notice the energy all around you. Read the rest of this entry »
Plants are everywhere, even in urban environments – from the windowsill potted plant to the hundred-year-old oak in a city park. What you may not know is that plants, just like people and animals, are psychic and react strongly to the energies around them.
In a well-known experiment, scientist Cleve Backster, who was at the time working with police departments to develop polygraph (lie detector) machines, attached a plant to one of these machines. He found that the plant detected intent. For example, the plant reacted with humanlike responses, such as fear and anxiety, to his thoughts of burning the plant.
The plant also showed an empathic response to pain, such as when Backster cut his finger. The results were even the same when he directed his thoughts toward the plant from some distance away. All this from a common potted plant found in an office! Read the rest of this entry »
The bonds with your Spiritual Council are strengthening and as each and every day passes they become stronger and stronger and within this strength lies your own strength, your own power, your own fearlessness. For when you remove fear from the equation of living your passion, anything is possible.
Simply imagine walls dissolving, barriers evaporating. You hold this much power within you. There is nothing outside of yourself that you need to accomplish anything that you desire. We cannot say this often enough. Read the rest of this entry »
