‘Handling’ People

click here for a free psychic reading at PsychicAccess.comWhen people ‘handle’ me, it makes my skin crawl, literally. Why do people feel the need to ‘handle’ others? What is the difference between say being diplomatic with someone, being professional, or having boundaries, all of which are healthy behaviors, compared to ‘handling’ someone? The simple answer is energy.

Handling someone means you are a closed book, you have an agenda with a person and you want to accomplish that agenda, whether it is to get something from the person or to make that person go away (without you simply setting a boundary or being honest).

People who ‘handle’ others often do not know that is what they are doing; it is their unconscious ‘go-to’ behavior, their norm. Some ways of discovering if you are handling versus relating to someone, is to look at your other choices.

You may not realize that addicts always need handling. So, if you are an addict (of any kind — drugs, alcohol, sugar, sex, anything you feel compelled to do in excess), or if you tend to date, marry or make friends with addicts of any sort, you are more than likely someone who ‘handles’ others, as well as yourself. A handler type person will choose addicts often without realizing or admitting to themselves that they are an addict, because addicts do in fact need to be ‘handled’ until they come out of denial and start to participate in their recovery.

Emotional Self-Care Through Daily Spiritual Practice

click here for a free psychic reading at PsychicAcccess.comFor those that are highly sensitive, including psychics, mediums, healers and empaths, awareness and self-care are critical to our overall well-being. If you are an individual that fits into this group and you are not doing daily maintenance on your emotional well-being and spiritual body, then you are leaving the gate wide open for an attack that can not only impact your emotions, but also your mental and physical health. This maintenance is achieved primarily through a daily spiritual practice.

Spiritual practice can be anything from prayer to meditation and is defined as the regular performance of actions and activities for the purpose of inducing spiritual experiences and cultivating spiritual development. Simply put, spirituality is the way you choose to find meaning, hope and inner peace in your life.

If you already adhere to a specific faith, tradition or religion, wonderful, but be certain that you are taking time each day to actively engage with your beliefs. Why is this important? Research has shown that those that engage in a regular spiritual practice live longer, and are healthier mentally and physically.

Why I Do Readings

click here for a free psychic reading at PsychicAcccess.comThe main thing I notice about being a channel is the focus on what healing is, its purpose, and how being a healer in service to others is held against being selfish.

If someone is fulfilled by sacrificial service (victim-savior relations) and this is their mission in life, then they would likely derive the greatest joys from this kind of sacrifice, because Spirit would bring them seekers who want that type of service. It is a sacrifice, indeed, although often cleverly disguised as a helping venue.

In any case, one can pick any way of healing that resonates for you. For me, I find that I prefer to educate my clients in terms of what an empath can and cannot (or should not do) in my opinion. Personally, I am not fulfilled by victim-savior scenarios. I don’t find them to be healthy on any level.

All the same, I used to fall into the trap of trying to ‘fix’ people, to the point that it was my main modus operandi in life – being prey for others that are seeking life source energy from others. I discontinued doing that when I realized several truths:

A Story Of Healing

click here for a free psychic reading at PsychicAcccess.comI asked my mentor how I would get energy healing work. Her answer to me was, “You don’t have to do a thing, they will come to you.” She was really right about this! Healing is a part of my life purpose and the right people seem to find me at the right time.

One of my most memorable healing experiences involved a young girl who only 8 or 9 years old at the time. I was living in a pretty large apartment building at the time, in a not-too-nice part of the city. We lived on the same floor.

Ventilation was not so great in this complex and only a few people had air conditioning, so everyone would leave their doors open in the summer, for a draft of fresh air to come into the stuffy apartments.

Many of the children would play with each other in the hallways. It was always noisy, but in a way it was better than having them play out on the streets without adult supervision. When they did go outside, a mom was always with them, to bring them over to the park that was a few blocks away. Then there are some good parents and some not so good parents, as usually the case is.

Be Gentle With Yourself This January

click here for a free psychic reading at PsychicAccess.comJanuary can be a challenging month for some people. As the new year rolls in, many people are focused on their ‘New Year’s resolutions’ and on how they want to change their lives for the better in the coming year. As we all know, in a few weeks time most of these resolutions will be forgotten, and all that will remain is subtle feeling of disappointment.

Add to this our reflections on the past year, our hopes and expectations for the coming year, and a lingering malaise from the energetic overload of the previous month of holidays… and all of this can add up to a sense of heaviness about our life.

While recognizing that there is room for improvement, and taking action where we can make those improvements, is always a good thing, it’s important to also remember to do this with love and compassion for ourselves. Change can be challenging, even when we are at our best!

So, with all this in mind, how can we move into this new year with both self-love and self-awareness?

A Few Minutes Of Daily Self-Care

click here for a free psychic reading at PsychicAccess.comI often tell my students to take some ‘me time’ each day, even if it’s only five minutes for self-care. And I have heard 101 excuses as to why someone cannot do this, ranging from parenting responsibilities and career, to house cleaning and maintenance. These excuses typically start with the words, “I have to…”

At one workshop, I had several people offer their excuses for not having even  a few minutes for themselves on a daily basis.  Then I narrowed it down to a simple question. When you have to go to the washroom, do you hold it in all day long, and all night, because you ‘have to’ do something else?  After the laughter stopped, because I did do an exaggerated imitation of someone ‘holding it’ by rolling on the floor in agony!

And then I asked the next question. By holding it all day and night, and writhing in pain and agony, what did I accomplish?  How much time did I waste focusing on this issue of ‘I have to go,’ but ‘I don’t have time.’

This is the simplest way to explain time management versus wasted energy and time. I take a bath or shower each day, as do most people. I am usually at least a few minutes under the water in some way. Water is my peacemaker and my calming force. It energizes me and charges me for the day.

Healthy Boundaries – The Best New Year’s Resolution!

click here for a free psychic reading at PsychicAccess.comThe best New Year’s resolution many of us can work on in 2019 is to create healthy boundaries with the people in our lives. These boundaries don’t have to be all about just creating space or distance between you and a few toxic people and things in your life. It can also include keeping yourself from being exposed to negativity on social media, or avoiding those foods you are intolerant to. In 2019 I recommend we all take a moment to think about the things we do, say, consume, and the people we spend our time with. Whatever it may be that brings us down, or steals our energy, needs to go. And no more people-pleasing.

Dr Seuss says, “Those who matter don’t mind, and, those who mind, don’t matter.” Well, it’s true. Those people who have a problem with you, because your belief system is different from theirs, for example, are absolutely out of line! I have said it once and I will say it again: the world will be a very boring place if we all had the same ideas and way of thinking. Diversity is what keeps our world going. So it’s okay to be different. I am big on keeping it real and being authentic. I refuse to be a conformist.
