Be Your Own Light In Times Of Darkness
We’ve been facing dark days and challenging times across the world in recent years, no matter where we live. But the future is much brighter than it may seem, and that light of hope begins with you.
With social media and constant news feed updates, mostly centered around negativity, disaster, conflict, or tragedy, many of us feel overwhelmed these days. These are especially not easy times for the spiritually conscious person and the highly sensitive.
Our generation is being bombarded with a stream of distressing information and content, much of which includes falsehoods and fearmongering. Children today are exposed to more in grade school than some of us were after we graduated and entered the workforce. That’s not always a good thing, but it also means they’re growing up faster, and with the right guidance, they can grow up wiser.
When people talk about “the good old days,” they’re usually thinking about how much simpler life seemed in the past. I remember my grandparents saying such things long before there was the internet, smartphones, or AI. So, I guess every generation has its own reasons for nostalgia, and this sentiment is nothing new in the digital age.
That said, some of us today still grew up without television or even radio, and lived through the full evolution of the current digital age. Many elders still feel disconnected from how rapidly things have changed. But there’s beauty in that too. Each generation carries wisdom, and now, more than ever, we need to blend that wisdom with the tools of today to create a better path forward for all of us.
Holding On To What Never Changes
Nature always inspires deep thoughts in me. There’s something about pausing to watch the wind rustle through the trees or to see the sun gently filter through the clouds that invites stillness and reflection.
Today, I found myself contemplating the constantly changing seasons. In the Northern Hemisphere, we are a month away from the summer solstice, and the days are becoming increasingly long and warm with golden light. The trees are lush and full, the air hums with the sound of insects, and gardens overflow with life.
Change is everywhere. It’s evident in the ripening of fruit, the intense afternoon heat, and the subtle shift in the season’s energy toward harvest.
It’s not just nature, either. Our lives are constantly evolving, too. Relationships shift, careers transition, health fluctuates, and dreams reshape themselves over time.
No matter where we turn, we hear messages such as “Change is inevitable,” and “Don’t be afraid of change.”
Yes, change is necessary. As spiritual beings, we are meant to continually grow and evolve. Change challenges us, stretches us, and teaches us.
But let’s be honest — sometimes it’s also deeply unsettling. This is especially true in times like these, when the world feels uncertain, divided, and fragile.
April Showers Bring May, And June Flowers!
The old saying, “April showers bring May flowers,” reminds us that difficult periods can lead to growth and beauty.
For many, April this year truly felt like an emotional downpour, both internally and externally. It was a time of letting go and confronting old wounds or patterns that no longer served a purpose.
While the skies may not have cleared overnight, we are now entering a new chapter. As we move through late May and look ahead to June, a powerful shift is underway—one that brings hope, clarity, and blooming potential.
April is dominated by Aries season and the intensity of its fiery energy. Ruled by Mars, Aries tends to stir things up, fueling restlessness, frustration, and even conflict. This year, many of us felt an even stronger inner drive than usual to move forward, yet we also encountered lingering emotional blocks or unusual external resistance. For many, it was a month of both internal and external battles where old stories resurfaced to be healed or released.
Taurus season followed, overlapping the end of April and the first few weeks of May. Its slower, earthbound rhythm helped us begin to stabilize — but not without first confronting the emotional residue left behind.
Taurus energy urged us to get grounded, reconnect with our values, and take things one step at a time. This helped to soothe some of the turbulence, but it also highlighted areas of life in which we have been too rigid, stuck, or overly attached to our comfort zones.
Why You’re Absolutely Meant To Be Here!
Lately I’ve been hearing more cries for help from clients saying things like: “I really don’t want to be here anymore,” “No one will even miss me when I’m gone,” or “This world is not for me, I never belonged here anyway.”
This sense of despair seems to have increased in recent times. For many, there seems to be an overwhelming sense that the world is spinning out of control. More and more people are struggling with a deep sense of disconnection and hopelessness, triggered by the relentless pace of global upheaval and chaos.
Some also speak of a deep inner alienation — a quiet pain that comes from trying to reconcile their heartfelt values and dreams with a daily reality that feels cold, uncertain, cruel, and fragmented. They no longer see the compassion, unity, or progress they once believed in, and this leaves them questioning their place in the world, or if they even belong here.
It is a powerful reminder of the urgent need for the world’s lightworkers to rise — to hold space, to nurture hope, to foster connection, and to work toward a more compassionate and sustainable future.
I, for one, do not share this negative view regarding my place and purpose in this world, because about three decades ago I faced a serious illness that nearly ended my life. This traumatic chapter led me to a profound realization: we plan our lives before we incarnate, and we all absolutely belong here!
Ready For Your Spring Spiritual Renewal?
Today marks the Spring Equinox and the first day of spring in the Northern Hemisphere. Known also as the Vernal Equinox, it is an astronomical event that marks one of the two times of the year when day and night are nearly equal in length. It usually occurs around March 20th or 21st in the Northern Hemisphere.
During the equinox, the sun crosses the celestial equator and moves north. Many cultures and traditions celebrate it as a time of balance, renewal, and growth. As nature shifts into balance, we are invited to do the same — to clear away what no longer serves us and move into a season of light, action, and new beginnings.
Spring is a new beginning. A new sun rising. The dawn in the wheel of the year. At this time of year our minds are bright and alive with new ideas. Many of us feel inspired and excited to try new things. Life awakens in the warm sunlight and our spirits feel ready for a new beginning.
One of the longstanding customs associated with this time of year is the tradition of “spring cleaning.” Across cultures and generations, people have used this time of year to refresh their homes, clear out accumulated clutter, and invite new energy into their lives.
But spring cleaning is more than just cleaning up our physical space — it is a sacred ritual of renewal, release, and transformation. As the earth awakens from hibernation, we too are called to clear out the old and make room for new energy. From a spiritual perspective, this process is an opportunity to realign ourselves with higher frequencies, release stagnant energy, and invite clarity into our lives.
