Why You’re Absolutely Meant To Be Here!
Lately I’ve been hearing more cries for help from clients saying things like: “I really don’t want to be here anymore,” “No one will even miss me when I’m gone,” or “This world is not for me, I never belonged here anyway.”
This sense of despair seems to have increased in recent times. For many, there seems to be an overwhelming sense that the world is spinning out of control. More and more people are struggling with a deep sense of disconnection and hopelessness, triggered by the relentless pace of global upheaval and chaos.
Some also speak of a deep inner alienation — a quiet pain that comes from trying to reconcile their heartfelt values and dreams with a daily reality that feels cold, uncertain, cruel, and fragmented. They no longer see the compassion, unity, or progress they once believed in, and this leaves them questioning their place in the world, or if they even belong here.
It is a powerful reminder of the urgent need for the world’s lightworkers to rise — to hold space, to nurture hope, to foster connection, and to work toward a more compassionate and sustainable future.
I, for one, do not share this negative view regarding my place and purpose in this world, because about three decades ago I faced a serious illness that nearly ended my life. This traumatic chapter led me to a profound realization: we plan our lives before we incarnate, and we all absolutely belong here!
During a period of unconsciousness in intensive care, I had a vivid out-of-body experience. I found myself in the presence of a council of wise spiritual elders. They told me that I still had work to do. And although I honestly didn’t want to stick around, their message struck a deep chord. I suddenly remembered that I had chosen this path — and the lessons it held — long before I was born.
My desire, my most fervent wish, is that you recognize the tremendous courage you show in every moment of every day when, with each breath, you reaffirm your decision to embrace and learn from your own challenges. Within that recognition, you will find your soul ~ Robert Schwartz
This experience, along with past life regressions and other spiritual insights, confirmed what I now deeply believe: we all have a pre-birth soul plan.
I recall, for example, a past life regression in which I perceived myself floating like a bumblebee over a lush green landscape. When I described this to my mentor — a specialist in past life work – he said, “Oh, yes, you hadn’t taken form yet. You were searching for your next incarnation.”
His words resonated deeply. In fact, I had chosen England as my birth country for the experiences it would bring. And while England was the starting point, I always felt that I would travel through many countries — some of which I would feel even more spiritually connected to than my homeland.
You Created Your Soul Plan
Before we incarnate on Earth – or even in other galaxies or realms — I believe we meet with our council of spirit guides, angels, and ancestors to explore options for the lessons we wish to undertake. Some of these are gentle teachings, while others are painful initiations. We also choose our earth families. Sometimes these attachments are rooted in deep soul love. Other times we simply need to inherit certain genetic or emotional traits in order to fulfill a particular soul contract.
For example, one soul may choose to build a business empire — not just for worldly success, but to face the demands of leadership, personal integrity and working with others. Another may choose to endure the trials of abuse or isolation-not as punishment, but to learn the sacred art of self-love and to realize that their worth is intrinsic, not defined by others.
Just as importantly, we also choose how we will contribute to the world — to uplift, heal, inspire, guide, protect, or teach.
One soul may become a healer, teacher, artist, or caregiver, bringing compassion and light where it’s needed most. Another may take a quieter path — raising a conscious family, supporting others behind the scenes, or simply anchoring peace in their community. Some souls choose to challenge the status quo, calling attention to injustice or inequality as part of a broader mission to awaken human consciousness.
These contributions aren’t always large or widely recognized. Sometimes a quiet act of kindness, being a steady presence, or simply listening with genuine care is exactly what a soul came here to do. No gesture of love or service is ever in vain.
I once heard someone describe our pre-birth soul plan as a kind of “flow chart” — a map with major milestones, yet flexible enough to allow for the influence of free will. Synchronicities-those mysterious, meaningful coincidences-are often nudges from our guides, gently nudging us toward our next step. They often appear when we least expect them, but most need them.
In essence, I believe we choose the route for our soul’s journey, but free will still plays an important role. We set goals and agree to certain challenges, and at pivotal moments we can call upon our guides, angels, and ancestors for support. I believe they hear us — but they will not interfere with our free will unless we consciously ask.
Like an artist that paints not to finish a canvas, but to experience the act of painting, the soul chooses embodiment to experience, evolve, express, and remember its own divinity through contrast. Trust Your Reasons For Being Here
There is a divine spark within every soul — a unique vibration encoded with purpose. When we align with this inner truth, even in the midst of hardship or confusion, we begin to remember who we are and why we chose to be here. This remembrance is powerful. It reminds us that we are not lost, not forgotten, and never alone on this path.
Even when life feels painful or uncertain, your soul’s journey is unfolding. And despite how things may seem, the world truly needs your presence, your voice, your light.
Yes, we still have the ability to create our reality and manifest abundance. But even if we’ve chosen to face illness or cross paths with challenging people, we are never powerless. We always have the freedom to choose how we respond — and that choice is where our greatest strength lies.
So, please trust that you are needed. Even in all the noise and confusion and chaos of the world, you are not here by accident. Honor your soul purpose and embrace your journey.
As the Desiderata poem so beautifully reminds us: “You are a child of the universe, no less than the trees and the stars; you have a right to be here.“
