Energy Awareness Is The Foundation Of Self-Care
As sentient spirit beings in human form we are constantly interacting with the energies of other people. This energy exchange can be a very positive, uplifting experience, or very toxic and draining.
Those of us who are empowered empaths or highly intuitive can typically discern if someone’s vibes are one way, or the other. Healthy or unhealthy. We usually know what kind of incoming energy we are dealing with.
But if this energy awareness does not come naturally to you, it is vital you develop your ability to discern the difference, because there is always an energy exchange whenever we interact with others. For this reason, I often encourage my clients, who are struggling with their energy balance and maintaining boundaries, to practice meditation and do related energy healing and protection work.
An unhealthy type of energy exchange that I frequently assist people with is when they have someone in their life who is narcissistic, entitled, toxic, or has a victim mentality. For example, just this week I helped someone who has been entangled in a deeply stressful, draining connection with a friend who was constantly placing her in the uncomfortable position of having to play therapist, counselor, and nursemaid.
It’s one thing to sometimes be there for a partner, friend or relative when they are going through a difficult time and need some support. But it is quite another when it becomes a constant, on a daily basis, with no apparent end in sight! Enough already. It is also pointless to try and support someone else with their mental health challenges when your own well-being begins to suffer because of it.
Never Neglect Your Psychic Defenses
Experienced psychics and mediums understand the importance of spiritual practice and energy work for psychic protection. Responsible readers and channelers know they must cleanse, clear, and shield their auric field on a regular basis. But many of us, including myself, are at times guilty of neglecting or even forgetting to properly maintain our energetic health and safety.
Although we all have access to an infinite supply of divine energy, and our soul is always protected by a higher power, we must bear in mind that we are in fragile physical form while we are in this world. We must therefore for maintain and protect ourselves, both physically and spiritually.
By neglecting to shield our personal energy field as professional psychics, mediums, and healers we do not only expose ourselves to undesirable energy interferences, but we potentially also jeopardize the quality of the guidance we offer to others.
Psychic empaths are especially vulnerable to various energies. When our auric defenses are down, we allow others to siphon energy off us (many doing so unintentionally). You usually know who those people are who ‘drain’ you more than others. Perhaps they are depressed, unwell, or just simply very ‘needy.’ Even pets can be needy, particularly when we are working with rescue animals.
Certain places and crowds can also be very draining. Emergency rooms, hospices, funeral homes, court rooms, or any space where there has been intense trauma, emotional distress, discord, violence or physical pain can have a detrimental effect on the well-being of the energetically sensitive person.
Spirit Is Like A Lifeguard
I used to work in a Wisconsin tourist town in the early 90s, holding down two full-time jobs to pay my way through college. One of my employee benefits was a free admission pass to all the city’s water parks and other tourist attractions. I rarely had a day off, but whenever I did, I would relish splashing around in those lazy rivers and wave pools with childlike enthusiasm!
A popular feature at my favorite water park was a towering waterslide. At the top sat a lifeguard who would give the go-ahead for you to safely start sliding down, after the slider in front of you had cleared enough distance.
Our spirit guides are kind of like those water park lifeguards.
I remember doing a reading for myself around New Year’s Day 2016, regarding my wishes and goals for the future. I wanted my midlife crisis to be over after my divorce, and I craved to immerse myself full-time in my spiritual work to gain respect and personal fulfillment.
Seven years later, I’m still working on some of those 2016 resolutions, but I have meanwhile realized that Spirit has held me back from achieving these goals earlier in my life, as I had karmic obstacles blocking my progress.
I used to be in a loveless marriage that was a karmic ball and chain around my ankle. For example, when I faced a major health challenge years ago, all my ex could focus on was the economic loss, since I wasn’t able to work at the time. I recall someone in an online support group asking him, “Don’t you love your wife? Then support her!”
The Year To Reimagine Your Career
In numerology the year 2023 is a universal year 7 (2 + 0 + 2 + 3 = 7). This energy represents a unique convergence of creativity and practicality, and spirituality and materialism. This year brings with it an introspective, creative, transformative energy that is very favorable for anyone seeking to start a meaningful new project or business, or transform their career. It is especially ideal for anyone wishing to pursue a creative or spiritual career.
The number 7 is a mystical, highly spiritual number. It can further also be broken down into 3 and 4, because it is a prime number. This makes it a combination of creative, optimistic, lucky number 3, and practical, solid, grounded number 4. It is an ideal energy for personal transformation, reinventing career goals and innovative business plans.
However, to fully benefit from this transformative energy, significant soul-searching and self-reflection will be necessary for us this year. A fine balance will have to be found between analysis and logic on the one hand, and intuition and imagination on the other. This will empower us to set clear, powerful professional goals and better prepare us to successfully put our plans into action in 2024.
Next year will be universal 8 year, which symbolizes the flow of energy. It will be a strong year for material wealth, success and personal power. Next year will be spectacular for money and finance, business achievement, and professional success.
To make the most of this opportunity we need to utilize the creative inspiration and energy of self-knowledge and personal reinvention that 2023 offer us now to prepare. If we thoroughly lay the groundwork this year, we will be able to fully take charge of our career or business in 2024.
The Key Elements Of A Successful Psychic Reading
Recently, I was drawn into an interesting conversation about what is required to deliver a successful, accurate psychic reading. First up for discussion was the different psychic abilities, techniques and methods that readers use to obtain and convey information during a reading.
Psychic readers can basically be categorized into two groups: diviners and channelers. Diviners use divination tools and methods, such as Tarot cards, runes, bones, tea leaves, astrology charts, and so on. Channelers, on the other hand, is what I simply refer to as ‘no tools’ psychics. These individuals ‘see, hear, and feel.’
Is one better than the other? I don’t believe there is much difference – not as far as giving the client meaningful and useful information that is intended specifically for them. I personally see the two reading processes as very similar. What really matters in the end is accurate interpretation, as well as the skill and experience of the reader. These are the key elements, not how the information is accessed.
In my view, reading Tarot cards in a spread is no different to interpreting, for example, a stream of visual images ‘seen’ in the mind’s eye. In the same way Tarot readers associate certain symbolic meanings with different cards, ‘no tools’ readers similarly rely on a personal set of psychic symbols, such as visual images, clairaudient sounds, empathic feelings, and so on. It is not how the information is accessed, but how well it is interpreted that matters most.
I find that my personal ‘catalog’ of psychic symbols is constantly expanding and evolving, as I do more and more readings. This has made it increasingly easier for me over the years to interpret and convey psychic information to my clients.
