Can You Handle The Truth?
There is famous scene in the movie A Few Good Men, where Jack Nicholson’s character angrily declares: “You can’t handle the truth!” Most of us can’t seem to, can we? We tell ourselves lies day in and day out, and after a while we come to believe them. Worse, we make excuses for ourselves or others that stop us from living full, healthy lives.
But it doesn’t have to be this way!
There’s a reason most recovery programs include a step where you need to take a full and honest inventory of yourself. Even if we are not in recovery, how long since most of us have really taken a long, hard look at ourselves, warts and all? We want to believe that we’re smarter, prettier, and more successful than we really are. That’s human nature. All of these lies and half-truths in our past are like a huge boulder weighing us down. But there’s a way to let go of it if we are willing to step outside that comfort zone! Continue reading
Everyday Life Happens To Psychics Too
To be in this world, but not of it… I imagine this motto might be the secret ideal of many a psychic advisor. Clients tend to view us as being calm and together at all times. However, life happens to psychics too.
For example, right now I am nursing a very sickly husband and seeing to some extra chores that he usually attends to. So, even though we prepare for the psychic readings we offer, we still have our own life’s everyday challenges and officialdom to deal with.
Unless we go and reside in a cave somewhere, I guess we will always be exposed to some form of general chaos around us! Of course, this does help us to identify with our clients when they say they are running around like “headless chickens” in their lives. Continue reading
The Present Is A Gift Often Ignored
Yesterday is history, tomorrow a mystery, and today a gift from Spirit. That is why it is called “the present.” The present is a gift – one that is often ignored.
At any given moment we can be miserable. Life is a constant series of choices and decisions. We decide what we want to pay attention too and what we let go. This can be a dangerous path if you are in denial, unconsciously running away from your feelings, living in a fantasy world, using magical, unrealistic thinking, smoking lots of marijuana, abusing alcohol, and so forth. You can indeed ignore reality and red flags.
We live in the world, but we do not control it. A wonderful saying from the Twelve Step program is: “do the footwork, let go of the results.” We should add to that, “and don’t forget to smell the roses.” Continue reading
The Sixth Chakra
The sixth chakra, or Ajna is located at the brow, right between the two physical eyes. It is symbolized by a lotus with two petals.
The animal totem of the sixth chakra is the black antelope or black panther. The musical note that resonates with this chakra is “A”. This is considered the intuition chakra and it is also referred to as the Third Eye.
It rules the sinuses, optic nerve, eyes, forehead and the frontal lobe of the brain. Its corresponding gland is the pineal gland.
The color for this chakra is a deep indigo. Foods to stimulate this chakra include Eggplant, blackberries, red cabbage.
Physically, Ajna deals with vision. Emotionally it deals with clarity on an intuitive level and mentally with visual consciousness. Spiritually it deals with compassion, empathy, foresight and psychic ability. Empaths, mediums, psychics, and intuitives usually have a very developed and open sixth chakra. Continue reading
Constructive Ways To Resolve Conflict
In this age, where information can be so easily found, it is astonishing that so few people know, or practice the basics of good communications with those they care about. This seems to be especially true with some members of the New Age or spiritual community, who can sometimes communicate better with “the mother ship” or ghosts than with fellow humans (who could really use the company and conversation).
There is a saying “healer, heal thyself.” In addition to teaching Psychology and conflict resolution skills, I have spent thousands of hours and lots of money working on myself: Twelve Step programs (ACA/CODA and Al Anon when I cannot find the others), workshops, regressions, therapy, spiritual retreats and many, many other modalities.
