The Spiritual Gift Of Healing
My first experience of the spiritual gift of healing was when I went to visit my father in the hospital many years ago. He was in great pain and something told me to gently touch the knee on which he just had surgery. It was not my intention to achieve anything, simply to comfort him. But then I saw his facial expression shift from agonizing pain to instant relief. That to me was a miracle!
The next major healing miracle happened when one of my twin daughters went ice skating when she was about 8 years old. I was watching the children enjoy the beautiful winter day, when my daughter suddenly slipped and fell. I will never forget her agonizing scream. I instantly knew this was bad!
As I was making my way to her, others where already helping her, but she would not stop screaming and it shot through me like bullets. When I got to her, I immediately saw the bone protruding through her skin. I then put my hands over the break on her forearm and said, “It’s okay.” In the blink of an eye, she stopped crying and said, “Mommy it doesn’t hurt anymore. “
I held her arm all the way to the hospital and when we arrive they made me remove my hands. Again, I had to hear my daughter screaming in pain, with me feeling helpless.
After they set her arm, they let me see her. I touched the cast on her arm and immediately sensed it was not set correctly. Of course, they refused to listen to me at first, but I kept insisting that something was wrong. Finally, they agreed to do a second X-ray, which showed my daughters arm was in fact not correctly set. So, she had to have it done all over again. A nurse asked me how I knew. I never answered.
Spiritual Awareness In A Time Of Isolation
Many of us are currently experiencing varying levels of real isolation and solitude – some for the first time ever. This can be a blessing in disguise, as it affords us the opportunity to ‘clean house’ physically, mentally, emotionally, and also spiritually. So, if you’re by yourself right now, there are some easy, productive ways to raise your levels of spiritual awareness.
Meditation is one of the oldest and most universal methods to connect to the spirit realms and become more aware of oneself. When we meditate, our vibrations and levels of energy will increase, and our consciousness is raised. You may also want to try creative visualization, affirmations, mantras, or physical activities, such as Yoga or Tai Chi.
Getting to know your spirit guides is something you may have never done before, and now is the ideal time to do so. These spiritual beings are always by our side, willing to hel and be of service. Ask them who they are and what they can do for you. Trust in their presence and their intentions.
You can also work on opening the third eye and developing your psychic attunement. During your meditations, imagine the spot between your eyebrows opening wide and increasing your levels of sight and clairvoyance.
And how about experimenting with psychometry, the art of reading an object’s energy? It’s especially helpful if you want to communicate with someone who has passed away. If you have something belonging to a late grandparent or another loved one, such as a piece of jewelry or item of clothing, hold the item and focus on what it tells you.
Sacred Space
Have you noticed that a certain physical space can influence how we feel? How can a room affect us in this way? Well it’s all about energy. When you walk into a room and people have had a fight there, or received some awful news that may have caused great sadness, we tend to pick up on the energy. We often sense it, without really knowing why we are suddenly feeling angry, sad, or drained.
One of the scripts that I use with hypnotherapy clients is to visualize your own sacred space and then picture yourself inside that space. Just thinking about such a space, where you feel safe, happy and calm, can help to relieve anxious feelings for most people.
There are also just some spaces that seem to promote a sense of belonging and trust that everything is okay. For some people their sacred space may be a certain place in their home, while for others it is simply outside in nature. It doesn’t really matter where your sacred space is, as long as you feel good inside it.
