Courage is a choice. It is available to all of us, not just a select few. Courage begins with the desire to want something different in your life, something more. Courage often comes when we get tired of being beaten down and are ready to rise up and claim the powerful being that you are.
In every moment you have the right, the power, the choice to be courageous, or weak. Sometimes courage is not bold, or loud, or executable. Sometimes courage is quiet, and graceful, and still. Courage is not always the bull in the China shop, but the mouse in the corner watching and waiting. Courage comes in all shapes and sizes. Sometimes it’s a word, a look, or the way you hold yourself. Sometimes it is the unspoken words, or the action left undone. It is easy to let ego overpower you and run rampant with your words and actions. It takes courage and grace to pause, and take a deep breath, and then proceed with thought and loving intention. Read the rest of this entry »
We have more power over our lives than we realize and it all begins with our thoughts. Through our thoughts we can either build ourselves up or tear ourselves down. Which are you doing?
Really take the time to pay attention to how you are treating yourself. What thoughts are popping into your head in regards to how you look, how you talk, how you act? Are you constantly putting yourself down and chastising yourself for what comes out of your mouth, or how you look in the mirror? If so, stop.
You wouldn’t treat a stranger that way, why would you treat yourself like that? From this moment on make a purposeful decision to be kind and loving to yourself, and if that’s too much of a stretch for you, just simply stop criticizing yourself.
Anytime a negative thought comes into your mind or out of your mouth about yourself say, “I cancel clear and delete that times three.” Next, say each of the following affirmations lovingly to yourself three times daily and watch magical things begin to happen in your life: Read the rest of this entry »
For many years the phenomenon of out-of-body experiences (OBE) has intrigued doctors, scientists, scholars, theorists and spiritualists.
Most often OBEs are associated with illness or traumatic incidents, but in 2007 British and Swiss researchers published studies describing how it may be possible to produce OBEs in healthy people.
Some experts believe that the subconscious takes us out of our body at night. It is believed that with practice you can use this to your advantage and train your subconscious to actually ‘wake you up’ after it has left your body. There are many methods to use to impress this idea on your subconscious, including listening to subliminal OBE suggestion tapes, affirmations, visualizations, reading books, and listening to music that has OBE-suggestive words. The key word here is searching. You can search for years and never find your soulmate, and yet just as you are looking for them, they are looking for you. What is wrong with this picture? Why do soulmates seem to be so difficult to find?
We ask ourselves, “Did I make a wrong turn in life somewhere and somehow missed them? Have I been too focused on work or just surviving and tuned them out? Did I meet them and not recognize them for who they were? Am I not as ready as I think I am to truly find love? Is there really such a thing as a true love soulmate? Have I been wasting my time trying to find that special someone?” Read the rest of this entry »
I remember telling my friend Audrey many years ago how well she was handling an upsetting situation. The matter related to a mutual friend who had borrowed a significant amount of money, and even though swift repayment was promised, the promise was not kept, nor acknowledged by the borrower.
Audrey seemed to take a really spiritual approach towards the situation and said to me, “I don’t lend money without first considering that I may well have to write it off in the end.” This was ironic, since he wasn’t exactly well-off herself.
“Why should I choose to be a victim, and to carry that huge load of resentment around on my shoulders, when I do have a choice to simply put it down? To carry that heavy knapsack of anger and resentment would only be draining to my health and peace of mind,” she explained. Read the rest of this entry »
What’s the difference between courageous people and weak people? Weak people allow their fear to hold them back or keep them frozen where they are at. Courageous people embrace their fear and keep moving forward.
What is holding you back from fulfilling your divine life purpose? Once you can specifically identify what it is that’s preventing you from taking action you can begin to dismantle the false belief system, heal, and move forward. For example, if someone in your life tells you your idea will never work it is often out of their own fear, than their disbelief in your dream. My husband told me no when I wanted to leave my career as a schoolteacher to pursue my dream of owning my own business. He had a million reasons why the whole thing was a bad idea and I have to admit he was pretty convincing, but I knew I had to do this. Read the rest of this entry »
Candles have always been special to me and I can trace them all the way back to my childhood. Over my lifetime they have conveyed different meanings and messages to me, whether it’s a secret wish on my birthday, or warmth and relaxation, romance, or spirituality.
Lighting a candle in prayer is an ancient ritual, with a timeless power. Lighting a candle in my church with a prayer for my special intention goes back to my roots in the Catholic Church, but candles have been embraced by almost every faith, creed and nationality. Read the rest of this entry »
Affirmations are a powerful and effective way to heal and remove negative crippling thoughts and suggestions generated by our ego. Our ego is not illuminated, or wise, or inspirational. So the ego is not a great guide or source of truth about ourselves when we are trying to discover who we really are.
Joseph Campbell put it well when he was talking about spirituality and made reference to the ego. He said “It’s a secondary organ and it thinks it’s running the show!” Since the ego is always talking in a loud and bossy manner, it’s important and necessary to discover a daily practice that provides an opportunity to hear from our true self, our gentle and loving higher selves, whose voice is kind and gentle.
If you are struggling with a repetitive pattern of unwanted behavior or have a diminishing belief about yourself, it’s very likely you’ve agreed to accept a message generated by your ego. You’ve stored ego messages on your mental hard drive and they come up and affect your feelings and behavior and keep you stuck. These negative “error” messages need to be deleted and replaced with the truthful messages from your higher self. Read the rest of this entry »
