The Sun Will Rise Again
The world seems to be fighting against us. Just as soon as we get out of the bitterest cold winter of our lives, we are hit with extreme heats, tornadoes, storms. Thor, on his winged horse, has ridden through… angry, wild, crazed, keeping all of us on our toes.
In our lives, in our relationships, we have all sorts of weather as well. These ups and downs, the setbacks, the craziness of life and love sometimes make us feel that the Sun has left us forever. It seems as if even the clouds try to cover up its warmth, heat, its nurturing, smiling face. Yet, the Sun always rises to bring light to a new day.
The bright light of the sun shows all in truth, both the harsh and good. Although we can’t see him behind the tornado, behind the storm, he is there. Behind the darkening clouds that overshadow all the light, that trouble the skies with lightening, thunder, and rain, the Sun remains like the Most High Spirit of Light. He is still there. Free Will – Is Freedom Truly Free?
When mankind first became a sentient race, we were given the power, by the gods, to make our own decisions. This might seem too good to be true, and in fact it is. The consequence, as we soon discovered, was the idea of karma: our actions have far-reaching consequences, and to live for oneself alone is not enough.
If we accept the idea that our actions are pre-determined for us in the form of destiny or fate, and that nothing we do matters, what is the meaning of this ability to make our own choices? Even if we don’t and we believe in the idea of Tabula Rasa, or a ‘clean slate’ at birth, why do our actions in life matter in the grand scheme of the Universe? Continue reading
Our Past Lives, Ourselves
In tandem with the concept of free will there is the idea of past lives and how they intertwine with karma. In Sanskrit, the word karma means “action.” Every one of our actions has a meaning which ripples through our very fabric.
Some of us may know about one or more of our past life already. Others may have only experienced bits and pieces: images seen in a dream, or inexplicable patterns that emerge in our lives. We may wonder why we always seem to be unlucky in love or needing a challenge at work. Every lifetime we get is the universe trying to teach us. What we perceive as hardship or bad luck is really a learning opportunity!
Discovering these patterns can be surprisingly easy. Start meditating and keeping two journals: one for waking and one for dreams. Are you noticing certain colors, smells, sounds? Are you drawn to a particular period in history? These are all clues to discovering your own karmic past. Continue reading
Would You Rather Be Right, Or Happy?
A recent unethical experience with a large company prompted me to ask a few people from various walks of life if they would rather be right, or happy? Most, including my husband, said they would definitely prefer to be right! The unpleasant incident caused me stress and considerable expense, but in the end, I’m glad I chose the latter – to be happy.
I purchased a power generator with a twenty hour backup at an ultimate cost of about $2,300 dollars, including installation and subsequent lawyer fees. I dealt with a salesperson at the retail outlet who told me the unit was too simple to warrant them installing it, and that if I could use a laptop, I could install the unit myself by following the instructions on a compact disc. Karmic Relationship Ties That Bind Us
A karmic connection, whether to a person or a pet, is a bond that has been there for lifetime upon lifetime. Because we are linked to another soul also somewhere on the astral, a karmic bond doesn’t simply sever when we physically detach from an individual in this world. Invisible tubular type cords connect us to various people and animals throughout many dimensions and incarnations.
I believe that those we have loved, whether girlfriend, boyfriend, or spouse, not to mention certain more challenging family members, even work associates, can fall into this category of being karmically linked to us. Magical Thinking
Magical thinking is a common trait found among all children all over the world, between the ages of approximately two until seven years of age. This time frame is also known as the ‘pre-operational stage’ of child development and it is the period in our early life when we increasingly explore our environment, and gradually learn to distinguish between ‘fantasy’ and ‘reality’.
Children at this age initially have all kinds of imaginative ideas and magical interpretations of the world, in order to make sense of their external and internal reality. At this age we still believe that we can grow wings and learn to fly; or that animals can talk and sing; or that our shadow is a magical person following us around; or that the Sun goes to sleep in the ocean; that there is a man living in the Moon; or that the wind, the clouds and the trees notice us and obey our instructions. Spiritual Practice
Awakening, reconnecting and realigning with the Divine Self is no doubt the most important first step in personal spiritual growth, individuation and ultimate transcendence. To rediscover your Higher Self and tap into your Higher Consciousness is usually a very awe-inspiring and life-changing experience. But your new found spiritual awareness and rediscovered Divine origins may soon lose its power to transform your life if you do not adopt a new lifestyle that includes some kind of consistent spiritual practice.
Divine Living and spiritual practice goes hand in hand. A Divine Life is impossible to achieve without some form of regular spiritual practice, in order to increase and maintain your connection and alignment with the Divine Self. What you come to know and believe about your own spiritual origins is meaningless, unless you have a direct and personal daily experience of receiving guidance from your inner Divinity.
