The History Of The Ouija Board
In my opinion the Ouija board is actually not a modern invention. The original concept of the board probably dates back to ancient Babylonian and Egyptian times. I imagine those who were familiar with the mysteries, made their own boards using clay tablets and a pendulum to collect information on just about any subject.
The Ouija board we know today was introduced in the late 1840s when Spiritualism became popular among occultists and secret societies. It was initially more complex, because their methods would involve knocking on the floor in response to letters being called out from the alphabet. Or they would use an intricate device that would have a pencil attached to it, allowing the spirits to guide the inquirer to the letters or numbers on the board.
In 1890, Charles Kennard and some of his colleagues, had the idea to turn this divination tool into a toy. They came up with the name Ouija, because it means “good luck” in Kemetic, the oldest known Egyptian language.
Trance, Transfiguration And Channeling
When an authentic psychic medium is doing a reading, they are entering into varying levels of trance, or altered states of consciousness, to access information from the Spirit realm. The Collins dictionary defines this as “a state of mind in which someone seems to be asleep and to have no conscious control over their thoughts or actions, but in which they can see and hear things and respond to commands given by other people.”

With their kind eye, perpetually ‘smiling’ face and use of language, they are in many ways like us. Scientists observe that dolphins are among the few animal species who have their own ‘dialects’ depending on their location. Some evidence even suggests that dolphins may be telepathic!
Animal Rescue As A Spiritual Calling
A friend recently asked me if have considered the possibility that all the animal rescue work I have been doing in recent years might be the symptom of a deep desire to heal some wounded part of myself? She also said I may be suffering from what her therapist refers to as a ‘savior complex.’ And this might stem from fear of rejection, insecurities and any other negative experiences from my childhood. I did not get defensive, but said I would ponder her remark. Actually, I am pondering what she said as I type this blog.
As much as my husband and I love all animals, it was never our intention to get as involved as we have now with our bounty of ‘rescued animals.’ In hindsight, we ended up taking in some very sick, injured, starving, and abandoned fur babies, because the small local rescue centre was bursting at the seams. I guess we found ourselves unable to bury our heads in the sand.

A holistic vet told me many years ago that he visualizes what he is going to do when he is treating an animal. He then asks permission psychically and also thanks the pet. I began to monitor this at future visits and noticed my dog would turn his paw for blood work. Or he would release a big sigh and relax into the vets vibration. Fascinating.
In the animal kingdom there is an incredible language of energetic connection within the same species. The subtlest body posture sends a message from one animal to the next. Perhaps it is stating, “I’m the alpha, what do you want?” Or perhaps it’s just saying, “Hey, you seem interesting, can we chat?”
Postcards From Spirit
Spirit messages often remind me of old-fashioned postcards and modern day text messages. As a child I loved receiving postcards from family and friends all over the world. Postcards were a way to see other places and how other people lived, before the era of texting and social media. Postcards were a way to send short messages just to say I’m thinking of you, similar to the way my grandchildren these days send each other short text messages… while they are in the same room!
Postcards and text messages have another similarity. Sometimes the messages are abbreviated and the person reading the message may not always understand exactly what the sender was really trying to say. And as it is sometimes necessary with postcards and texting, spirit messages often also require us to ‘connect the dots’ or read between the lines.
People may read or hear the same message, yet get several different meanings of what the sender was saying. This is one reason a person can have readings with several different psychics, mediums and diviners, and come away from them very confused, because the readers interpret messages differently.
