What Did You Give Up For Lent?
You’re out with your friends on a Friday night and suddenly you notice that one of them has switched from his favorite microbrew beer to lemonade? Is it time for Lent already?
Giving up something for Lent sometimes evokes head-scratching in non-Catholics, but what might seem like just another Catholic eccentricity can actually be a practice with deep spiritual significance.
Lent, the period of 40 days that precedes the celebration of Easter, has its origin in the early days of the Church. This year Lent began on March 5th and it ends on April 17th.
Converts seeking to become Christian, who at that time were mostly adults, spent several years in study and preparation. Under the threat of Roman persecution, becoming a Christian was serious business, so their process of preparation was intensive. Then they went through a final period of “purification and enlightenment” for the 40 days before their baptism at Easter. The rest of the Church began to observe the season of Lent in solidarity with these newest Christians. It became an opportunity for all Christians to recall and renew the commitment of their baptism. What It Means To Be Psychic
The word “psychic” gets tossed around a good deal in today’s world. Most people, when asked, would say that a psychic is a person who sees the future, or is able to connect with spirits. The truth is, it’s not quite so simple, but everyone is born with psychic abilities.
Psychic ability is the ability to interface with realms beyond the everyday. There are as many ways to connect psychically as there are realms! It may seem daunting at first to try and find your special gift or gifts. The best start you can make is to find a mentor. Remember when you learned baseball or piano? Learning to develop psychic abilities is the same. Much of it is practice and learning from someone who knows. Continue reading
Forgiveness Meditation
As difficult as it is to forgive, remember that forgiveness is about freeing yourself. Freeing yourself from pain, anger, fear and attachment to unhealthy people and situations, is vital on our journey to enlightenment.
The following is a powerful forgiveness meditation I created for my Kundalini yoga classes. My clients who have done this meditation have told me that they felt lighter, as if an emotional weight had fallen off of them. Many have said the next time they saw someone they had resentment toward, they felt like crying, hugging them or telling them they had forgiven them.
1. Sit in the easy pose (on the ground, legs bent, spine straight).
2. Close eyes. Continue reading
Oneness The Key To Heaven On Earth
It isn’t until we die that we totally grasp in a deeper way the full meaning of why we were here on this planet: to love unconditionally; to realize we are all a part of each other; that we are here to share our own unique gifts; and to express love in our own authentic way.
The best way to explain it is to visualize an eyedropper with a little drop of water. That drop of water represents you. You are added to the much greater, big ocean, and although you may seem separate you are in fact one with the ocean. You are a part of everything and everyone else in the universe.
We are all one. You can achieve heaven on earth through recognizing that we are all one and by loving your fellow man the same as you love yourself. Continue reading

The Ouija Board Is Not A Harmless Toy
The Ouija board is an occult item that you don’t want to mess with, or even try. It looks like something harmless and it’s supposed to be a fun, friendly board game, but using it may open you up to something that could bring harm to you.
My brother once thought it was harmless to try and use the Ouija board to make contact with a good friend we had lost in a car crash. We grew up together, and when we heard that our friend had passed in an accident my brother was very distraught. He was looking for answers as to what had happened and for some mysterious reason so he decided to turn to the Ouija board for assistance. I told him I felt it was not a good idea, since I had read stories at the library about people who used the Ouija board and the disturbing things that happened to them. Continue reading
