Is Honesty Always The Best Policy?
Honesty is always the best policy, but sometimes it doesn’t score you points with the family, or win you any friends.
Honest people want so desperately to speak the truth at all cost, because they know that honesty makes you feel a ‘lightness of being’. It is a liberating feeling. Not telling the truth makes you feel weighted down and guilty, and creates dis-ease in the body. Being dishonest is not good for your health.
The old saying goes, “The truth shall set you free.” This can be interpreted many ways, but I find this quote to have deeper meaning on many levels. Sometimes people get in the habit of lying, because they fear someone won’t like them, or maybe they feel they need to tell people what they want to hear for fear of rejection, or hurting someone’s feelings. Magical Thinking
Magical thinking is a common trait found among all children all over the world, between the ages of approximately two until seven years of age. This time frame is also known as the ‘pre-operational stage’ of child development and it is the period in our early life when we increasingly explore our environment, and gradually learn to distinguish between ‘fantasy’ and ‘reality’.
Children at this age initially have all kinds of imaginative ideas and magical interpretations of the world, in order to make sense of their external and internal reality. At this age we still believe that we can grow wings and learn to fly; or that animals can talk and sing; or that our shadow is a magical person following us around; or that the Sun goes to sleep in the ocean; that there is a man living in the Moon; or that the wind, the clouds and the trees notice us and obey our instructions. The Power Of Words Revisited
I posted an article a couple of weeks ago titled We Should Choose Our Words More Carefully, about ‘words’ and how powerful they can be. I showed how words are vibration and vibration can not only build but, also destroy.
So, for your amusement and mine, I have compiled a long list of words. To show the hidden meanings in the words we use.
I believe that our names, words and phrases contain hidden clues about each one of us and the things or places around us.
