The True Meaning Of Being Balanced
Spiritual teachers often emphasize the importance of achieving and maintaining balance as a fundamental aspect of well-being, personal growth, and spiritual development.
But what does it really mean? Is it about having a healthy work-life balance? Is it about a balanced diet or exercise routine? No, these are just some of the smaller elements of achieving true balance.
Balance refers to being holistically balanced in all aspects of our existence: body, mind, and spirit. Achieving and maintaining balance means creating a harmonious and integrated life in which all aspects of our being support each other, leading to overall well-being and a deeper connection with our true self.
We are more than our physical health, appearance and fitness levels. We are more than our thoughts, ideas, and knowledge. And we are more than our spiritual beliefs and practices. We are a wondrous compilation of all these things that make up our body, mind, and spirit. When any part of us is unhealthy or dysfunctional, it disrupts our alignment with our higher self. This is the true meaning of being out of balance.
Striving to be true to your higher self should always be your priority. Your higher self is the real you, the you that exists in harmony with the universe and is an expression of the divine. It is only when we are in alignment with our higher self that the world truly opens up for so much more to flow into our lives…instead of out of them.
Achieving true balance is a feeling, a knowing, and a sense of oneness or unity. It may require more of a conscious effort by clearing energy blocks from your body, mind, emotions, and spirit ~ Jane Deacon
So, how do we achieve balance? We achieve it, and therefore alignment with the higher self, by doing three things: cultivating holistic harmony, releasing resistance, and continuous practice. Here’s how to do it:
Holistic Harmony
Balance is a state in which all aspects of our life and being – mind, body and spirit – are harmonious and optimally functional:
Physical Balance: Maintaining good physical health through nutrition, exercise, rest and relaxation, and various forms of physical self-care.
Mental Balance: Adopting a positive and peaceful mindset, cultivating constructive and empowering thought patterns, managing stress, and fostering a healthy outlook and worldview.
Emotional Balance: Regulating your emotions, maintaining positive relationships, fostering a positive outlook, and calmly facing life’s challenges with courage and resilience.
Spiritual Balance: Connecting with your intuitive inner guidance, your guides and the angels, spirit and the divine; finding purpose; aligning with your values and beliefs; and fulfilling your spiritual calling or mission in this lifetime.
To achieve holistic harmony, you must not overemphasize one part of your life at the expense of others, for example:
Work and personal life: Ensure that work responsibilities do not overwhelm your personal life and vice versa.
Self-care and service: Balance taking care of yourself with helping others.
Activity and rest: Find a rhythm between being active and taking time to rest and reflect.
By not being true to ourselves, we often find that we are unhappy in the moment, or not fully present. We are agitated and out of sorts. ~ Muskan Taurani
Releasing Resistance
Releasing resistance refers to the process of letting go of negative thoughts, emotions, and behaviors that block or impede the natural flow of energy and prevent us from achieving our desired results and personal and spiritual well-being and growth. It is about releasing negative energy and limiting beliefs in order to create a more harmonious and fulfilling life.
Resistance can manifest itself in various ways, such as:
Negative emotions: Negative feelings such as fear, anger, frustration, doubt, bitterness, or resentment.
Limiting beliefs: Thoughts and beliefs that undermine your self-worth and true potential.
Outcome attachment: A fixation on specific outcomes that creates stress, anxiety or disappointment.
Unresolved issues: Holding on to past traumas, old resentment or pointless regrets.
Karmic debt: Negative patterns or challenges that arise from unresolved karmic consequences from ancestral legacy, past lives or earlier in this current lifetime.
Energy attachment: Energy blockages and spiritual disturbances caused by toxic energies, malevolent spirit entities, or psychic attacks.
Releasing resistance is crucial because it facilitates the flow of energy, the creative life force of the universe, allowing for smoother progress and manifestation. It opens the doorway to personal and spiritual growth by removing energetic obstacles. It aligns us with our higher self and true purpose, leading to a more fulfilling and authentic life.
Without resistance to the universal flow of life, we begin to live in alignment with our true values and beliefs, we become more present in the moment and fully engaged in life’s experiences, and we become more able to maintain inner peace and stability regardless of external circumstances.
How do we achieve this? Releasing resistance requires that we do two things: accept and surrender. We must acknowledge and accept our current circumstances without judgment or resentment, and we must let go of the need to control outcomes and instead learn to trust the universal flow and natural unfolding of life. We must learn to trust the divine and accept that spirit and the universe always have our backs!
Once we begin to release resistance, we begin to experience increased mental clarity, we feel a sense of inner peace and calm, we enjoy more effective manifestation of our desires and goals, and we establish a deeper connection to our spiritual path, our higher self, spirit and the divine.
Resistance is weakness and fear masquerading as strength. What the ego sees as weakness is your Being in its purity, innocence, and power. What it sees as strength is weakness ~ Eckhart Tolle
The first step in releasing resistance is to stop wearing all the petty human fear and drama we so often tend to cling to like a badge of honor. This is the first key to growing and moving into something healthier. We immediately begin to achieve more balance the moment we let go of hatred, resentment, jealousy, anger, and all that is negative and toxic, both toward ourselves and others.
Now you may be thinking, “But that person did this or that to me, I cannot let them get away with it or forgive them!” The brutal truth is that you have to in order to move forward and become more balanced.
Do you really think that the person who wronged you is sitting there with similar thoughts or feelings about you? No, they usually are not. Most of the time that other person has moved on with their life and does not give you a moment’s thought, and yet you are blocked in your own joy and happiness by the great wall of anger or hate that you have created in front of you, unable to take another step forward. And I say you created it because only you can create, build or destroy the resistance you hold in your life.
If you feel stuck, start by being honest about what you are really thinking and focusing on each day. Look in the mirror. Dig deep. Write down the thoughts and feelings that come up when you think about that negative situation or person. Then, holding the paper over the flame of a candle, say with conviction:
I forgive and release my resentment as I burn this paper, I release the ashes to the universe to take this off my shoulders and out of my mind.
If your body is currently failing you or slowing you down, and your licensed health care provider has ruled out serious illness or disease, or cannot identify the cause of your symptoms, then look at it from a resistance perspective as well. Sometimes there are metaphysical reasons for physical ailments.
Aching shoulders are from “carrying too many imaginary burdens. Sore legs or difficulty walking could be a sign of your fear of moving forward in your life. Headaches can come from all the worries and obsessions taking up too much space in your mind. Pain in your fingers or hands could be because you are holding on too tightly to something that needs to be released, whether it is a relationship, a person, a job, or an area of your life that is holding you back from growing.
When everything is in balance, I expect we would feel a sense of joy in every thing we do, we’d be pleasant to be around, we’d be treating ourselves and others with respect, and we’d have a beautiful sense of purpose about us ~ Min Gillespie
Continuous Practice
Maintaining balance is a continuous process. It requires that we regularly check in with ourselves to understand our changing needs and current state of being. We must constantly readjust and recalibrate our body, mind, and spirit in response to changing circumstances and world events. Most of all, we need to intentionally engage in spiritual self-care and growth practices such as meditation, prayer, mindfulness, energy healing, and other forms of spiritual or metaphysical practice.
Do you want more clear guidance from spirit and the divine, or do you feel lost on your spiritual journey? First, be sure to achieve more balance in all aspects of your life, body and mind, then pray or meditate to ask spirit, your guides and angels, the divine, what you need to know at that moment. Do not push further after you feel an answer (especially if it is not one you agree with). Just accept the first thing you are given and then ask the same question again the next day.
Your answers will become clearer and your path will begin to open up so that the opportunities for a better life, job, relationship, health, or whatever it is you are seeking, can come in. It will come when you are in balance. It is all up to you.
