The Signs of Spiritual Awakening

Click Here now FOR a FREE psychic reading at PsychicAccess.comSpiritual awakening is not just about inner peace, raised consciousness or becoming a role-model of enlightenment. It’s also a messy journey!

So, what exactly is a ‘spiritual awakening?’ Well, there isn’t one universally accepted definition, because the experience or journey is unique to each person. Also, it’s a lifelong process, and the time of awakening is just the beginning.

Essentially spiritual awakening is firstly a significant shift in one’s personal perspective, typically characterized by a recognition of observer consciousness. It is the realization that the true self or ‘I’ is the observer of your thoughts, feelings and experiences. You are not your thoughts, feelings and experiences, but merely the observer of your thoughts, feelings and experiences.

Awakening also brings a sense of expanded awareness which prompts us to examine our beliefs about ourselves and the world through a more critical lens. This usually sparks a quest for authentic truth and a thirst for deeper knowledge and understanding of ourselves and the world.

The awakened person begins to rebel against what they have been told to believe on all levels of their experience of themselves and the world. Awakening returns us to a state of newfound curiosity about our existence. We begin to explore what actually informs our existing beliefs, to determine if they serve our highest good, or not.

The awakened person also accepts their role as a conscious co-creator and takes responsibility for healing and releasing that which doesn’t serve their highest good.

In recent times more and more people all over the world are beginning to awaken. Triggers for awakening are often major life events such as marriage, divorce, pregnancy, bereavement, loss, trauma or traumatic events, major transitions, career changes, and so on. But anything can trigger a spiritual awakening. It can also simply happen due to a sense of general dissatisfaction with life and yearning for more depth, meaning and purpose.

How do you know if it’s happening to you? Ultimately, awakening is marked by a very distinct sense of before and after. There is no mistaking this characteristic, but there are also other signs and experiences that are commonly shared among people who spiritually awaken:

The spiritual journey is individual, highly personal. It can’t be organized or regulated. It isn’t true that everyone should follow one path. Listen to your own truth ~ Ram Dass

Questioning Everything

The spiritually awakened person has a new thirst for knowledge, critical thinking, and questioning the status quo. You begin to ask yourself what you truly believe? You begin to recognize that you had previously allowed your opinions to be defined by others.

Spiritual awakening leads you to take back your sovereignty of thought and begin to decide for yourself what you truly believe. This is not only true for the world around us, but also the limiting beliefs about ourselves that we must now confront.

Higher Purpose

The spiritually awakened person feels called to a higher purpose or the desire for a more meaningful purpose in life. You want to break free from the standard work-eat-sleep cycle. You may even sense that this fulfillment can be found through spiritual means. You have the desire to spend your time doing things that are emotionally, mentally, and spiritually satisfying and meaningful.

Signs And Synchronicities

The spiritually awakened person experiences more and more signs and synchronicities. Often these will be personally significant messages you receive from spirit. It is communicated through very specific symbolism that is meaningful to you.

This can manifest in various ways, including hearing songs, repeating number sequences, recurring dreams, strange or seemingly impossible coincidences, and so on. You also increasingly find that divine timing aligns for you, opportunities miraculously manifest, you meet the right people to support your path, and blessings arrive when you need them.

The spiritually awakened person experiences a significant shift in perspective from a victim mentality to conscious creator. You realize you must take responsibility for your life and everything you have manifested so far. This is exciting because it means that you discover that you are able to intentionally craft your future!

Emotional Challenges

The spiritually awakened person may have mood swings and unexpected triggers. It is often a time of intense emotional discovery and release and embarking on a healing journey. This part is challenging and cab be very messy and painful.

An awakened spiritual path is fundamentally about coming to know ourselves more wholly and moving towards greater authenticity. In order to achieve this, we have to confront the false beliefs and dysfunctional behaviors that used to hold us back. These are often tied to past trauma or skewed perspectives from our childhood and formative life experiences. It can be an emotional roller-coaster!

Spiritual awakening increases our self-awareness and leads us to recognize the lessons in our personal challenges. It radically shifts how you approach situations and relationships in your life.

It is closely connected to the shift from victimhood to being a conscious creator. We actively look for our own limiting beliefs and behaviors. We seek to learn whatever lesson is present in our circumstances, because we understand the Universe provides us only with opportunities for growth. Self-awareness is a cornerstone of a spiritually conscious life.

Increased Intuition

Spiritual awakening increases our intuition, which may express itself in various ways, such as heightened energy sensitivity, more meaningful dreams, clairvoyant visions, psychic knowing, mediumship experiences, and so on.

Essentially you are now flexing metaphysical ‘muscles’ you haven’t used in a long time. We all have unique spiritual gifts and talents and this is true for our energetic expression as well.

Increased Empathy

The spiritually awakened person has a heightened sense of empathy and compassion, which makes violence and the suffering of others particularly difficult to accept.

Deepening and refining this sense of compassion is accomplished through the healing journey mentioned earlier, as well as ongoing shadow work. This helps bring us closer to achieving true unconditional love.

Physical And Sensory Symptoms

The spiritually awakened person may experience a variety of physical and sensory symptoms, such as ringing ears, disrupted sleep, pressure at the crown chakra or third eye chakra, increased energy, a greater desire to care for one’s physical body, including intuitive dietary changes, increased sensitivity to things like processed foods, chemical products such as soaps, lotions, detergents, unnatural fabrics, smells, or foods, and so on. Please note that it is always advised to consult a medical professional or registered healthcare provider to rule out any medical causes.

Environmental Consciousness

The spiritually awakened person feels increasingly drawn to nature and animals, which usually includes a heightened sense of environmental consciousness and sensing the responsibility to take care of Gaia, or Mother Earth.

Social Challenges

Awakening can leave you feeling isolated and lonely when the people around you don’t understand your new perspective on life. You may want to talk about the new ideas and concepts you discover, yet it may feel like your friends and family don’t understand you, do not want to engage with you. Some may even become judgmental or hostile. Small talk tends to feel superficial and inauthentic for the spiritually awakened person.

There are many challenging aspects that come with awakening, and it is a matter of finding the balance between sharing your ideas and insights and knowing when someone may not be able or ready to receive your message. While awakening can get you more deeply in touch with your sense of compassion, it can also create a sense of frustration when dealing with those who haven’t yet awakened.

It’s important to always hold yourself accountable for having compassion and respect for those who don’t share your perspective. Spiritual awakening doesn’t make you superior or better than anyone else. Everyone’s journey is different, and everyone’s journey is valid.

More and more people are awakening every day and sometimes it’s the people you least expect. It’s important to keep your focus on yourself. Be the change you wish to see manifest in the world. Meet fear or hatred with love. The fastest route to a spiritually meaningful life is through finding your own heart center, and then learning to always stay in your heart center.
