Guiding Earthbound Souls To The Light

Early one morning I received a message from one of my clients saying that her close friend had been shot and killed before dawn that day. She wanted to know if I could try to communicate with her friend.

I suspected that it was far too early for spirit contact of any kind, but I promised to see what I could do.

Later in the day I tried to make the connection as promised. I immediately sensed that I was dealing with a soul who was stuck in this world, not quite sure where she was or what had happened after such a sudden death.

I informed my client that we needed to help her friend find her way to the other side, to the light. I asked her to assist me remotely in guiding her friend as it would help to have someone familiar present.

Her friend was still earthbound and our guidance and prayers would help her, even if she chose to stay close to her loved ones for the time being and make her presence known until they could find some peace with her sad and sudden passing.

I began our session with a calm, focused meditation, visualizing a warm, radiant light that would guide her friend. As we sent our thoughts and prayers, I felt a subtle shift in the energy around us. It was as if the room had brightened, filled with a calm, comforting presence.

My client shared some of her fondest memories of her friend, speaking with love and gratitude. This act seemed to create a powerful bridge of light, a connection that her friend’s spirit could use to find her way.

Suddenly I felt a rush of warmth and an overwhelming sense of peace. I knew then that her friend had found the light and was now surrounded by love from the other side. My client described feeling a gentle touch on her shoulder and hearing a soft whisper of gratitude.

There are many reasons why a soul may remain earthbound and stuck between this world and the next, unable to cross over to the other side.

Sudden or Traumatic Death: The trauma of a sudden or violent death can leave a soul disoriented and unaware that they have passed on. They may simply not realize that they have died, especially if the death was sudden or bizarre. A sudden death, such as an accident, suicide or murder, often throws the departing soul into a temporary state of shock and confusion. The transition process can also be confusing, and some souls may not know how to proceed to the other side. We all have guides ready to help us go home, but a soul in shock may temporarily shut them out in their confused state.

Unfinished Business: Unresolved issues or unfulfilled commitments can keep a soul earthbound until it feels its tasks are complete. Strong emotions such as guilt, anger, or grief can also anchor a soul to the material world.

Fear of Judgment: Souls may fear being judged in the afterlife for their actions in this life. Fear of what lies beyond can also make a soul reluctant to move forward. However, when we go home to spirit, we’re never judged or punished. Some souls, however, tend to hide in the shadows of the twilight underworld out of fear or shame until they are reassured and helped to seek the light. God, Source, Spirit, the Divine never turns its back on any soul, so with a little presence and compassion they can be guided to the Light.

Emotional Attachment: Deep emotional attachments to loved ones can make a soul reluctant to leave them behind. A protective instinct may keep a soul close to their loved ones, feeling the need to watch over them. This is why it is important for their living relatives and friends to encourage them to cross over. A deep attachment to a place, a pet or even an object can also prevent a soul from moving on.

Unhealthy Prolonged Grief: Also known as complicated grief, prolonged and unresolved grief can deeply affect both the living and the deceased. It can anchor a soul in the material world and prevent it from crossing over to the other side. It is important for the living not to get stuck in denial, anger or grief, because until the loss is acknowledged, processed and accepted, the soul cannot move on and complete its transition.

Several years ago, a close friend and I sat with her husband in hospice as he was about to die, encouraging him to let go of his emaciated body and return to his spirit. Just a few months later, her husband communicated with her through a medium and described his last days in detail. He thanked both of us for helping him to let go and cross over.

We can all help these earthbound souls by sending thoughts of love and light, and their loved ones in spirit, ancestors, guides and angels will do the rest. In more complicated cases it may be advisable to consult a rescue medium who specializes in spirit rescue work to assist. We can also reach out and help those who are either ready to cross over or have already crossed over but need to make amends and pay their karmic dues.

Our loving and forgiving thoughts are received by those on the other side. I often send them when I connect with my father, who crossed over in 2005, and I feel his grateful response. You can do this too. With your eyes closed, sit quietly and feel a response from a loved one – they are much closer than you think.

And one day, when we ourselves arrive in the spirit realm, we too can be supported by our loved ones as our soul continues to heal, grow and evolve.
