Emotional Self-Care Through Daily Spiritual Practice
For those that are highly sensitive, including psychics, mediums, healers and empaths, awareness and self-care are critical to our overall well-being. If you are an individual that fits into this group and you are not doing daily maintenance on your emotional well-being and spiritual body, then you are leaving the gate wide open for an attack that can not only impact your emotions, but also your mental and physical health. This maintenance is achieved primarily through a daily spiritual practice.
Spiritual practice can be anything from prayer to meditation and is defined as the regular performance of actions and activities for the purpose of inducing spiritual experiences and cultivating spiritual development. Simply put, spirituality is the way you choose to find meaning, hope and inner peace in your life.
If you already adhere to a specific faith, tradition or religion, wonderful, but be certain that you are taking time each day to actively engage with your beliefs. Why is this important? Research has shown that those that engage in a regular spiritual practice live longer, and are healthier mentally and physically.
While science is still struggling to clearly discern the body, mind, spirit connection, research shows a connection between our personal belief system, our practice of that system and most importantly how often we engage in that practice.
For me angels are wonderful, non-judgmental, all-loving beings whose job is to encourage, uplift and support us here. Angels appear in almost all belief systems. In my mind they are neutral and are simply interested in supporting love and peace. Many choose to call upon Archangels, such as Michael, Raphael, Gabriel or Uriel regularly for support.

Whatever your choice, be it angels, prayer, meditation or practicing a specific faith, do it regularly and try to devote at least few minutes every day to it. Make it a part of your morning ritual. Morning rituals are very grounding and prepare us for the day. It puts our minds in a positive and powerful state. We are then much less likely to fall victim to losing our tempers, engaging in non-productive activities, or succumbing to a victim mentality of feeling the world is against us.
The state of mind we start the day off with determines in great part how that day goes. A ‘bad’ day can leave us feeling drained, irritable and reaching for food or other substances that are not healthy choices. Many a bad choice has been made in this state: a foolish resignation letter fired off, a fight with a loved one, or family and friends who suffer.
Give some time and attention to arming your emotional-spiritual immune system. It’s well worth the little time and energy it takes and the benefits are numerous.
