Power And Protection From Your Ancestors
I come from a long line of female herbalists of European origins on my mother’s side of the family. They were seers, healers, and prophets who combined their psychic gifts with ancient healing practices. Today, they still come to me during meditation, to offer wisdom.
The family’s mainly Germanic connection is one I’ve researched for many years, but more recently I discovered that my ancestors crossed into Scandinavian and Norse territories too, which suggests a bloodline of fierce women who were warriors of their time. It’s really not surprising to me, as even my own mother today, who is 84 years old, can still kick anyone’s butt who crosses her path in an unkind way! I always knew she was strong when I was little, and I always admired her power and independence.
I was born in the year 1966, which in Chinese Astrology equates to the year of the Fire Horse. Fire Horse people are only born once every six decades. It is a rare sign and, according to legend, many girl babies born in certain parts of Asia in that year were killed at birth, because they were believed to be dangerous, uncontrollable or resistant to rules or dogma. My Fire Horse nature shows up in me from time to time, but only when I’m really pushed beyond reason by someone who is taking advantage of, or harming me, or my children.
We all have ancestors, both of blood and of spirit, and each of our lives rests firmly on the foundation of their sacrifice. They are as near to us as our breath and bones, and when related with in conscious ways, they can be a tremendous source of healing, guidance, and companionship ~ Daniel Foor
Life will sometimes push us to step into our core strength and fight for what is right. There are many people on the spiritual path who feel stepping into your true power or fighting for what is right is ‘unspiritual’ or egotistic. But from what I’ve seen, and from the phenomenal teachers I’ve studied with, just the opposite is true. All of my teachers were very kind at heart, but none of them were a doormat for anyone.
This even holds true for our teachers in spirit, such as the Archangel Michael, a supreme protector from harm, who we can call upon when we are in danger. When he shows up, he is always in his fullest power and glory, with no apologies for being too powerful! We all have access to spirit guides, guardian angels, and protective deities to call upon, who will help protect us, but there comes a point in time in our evolution where we must step into our own strength and fight our own battles. For me, the Norse God, Thor, came to me many years ago showing me how to step into my power and is still around today helping me stand up for my rights and the rights of others, keeping the warrior in me alive and strong.
Rune stones are one form of protection and symbolism that I’ve worked with over the years. The Runes are actual letters in an alphabet known as the Runic Alphabet, which was used to write various Germanic languages, before adoption of the Latin alphabet. The Scandinavian variants, also known as the Futhark, were derived from the first six letters of the runic alphabet. The Elder Futhark is the oldest form of the runic alphabets. It is a writing system that was used by Germanic tribes for Northwest Germanic dialects in the migration period. Its inscriptions have been found on many artifacts from the 2nd up to the 8th Century, including jewelry, amulets, tools, weapons, and stones.
Since the beginning of time, humans have been creating protective signs and symbols to ward off evil and bad luck… These symbols come from diverse spiritual paths including Wiccan, Norse, Judaeo-Christian, Egyptian, and others ~ Michelle Gruben
Different runic letters carved into stones hold great power and significance and can be used for divination, magical manifestation, healing, and of course, psychic protection. Many soldiers in history had certain runic symbols sewn into their uniforms for protection, and to ensure they return home safely from war. One rune in particular, called Thurisaz, is named after the Norse God, Thor. Thor is the thunder God and when you invoke his presence you will feel his incredible energy, power and dedication to fairness and the truth. Thurisaz, or Thor literally means “giants, strength, and resistance to harm.”
There are many practices of spiritual protection that come from ancient civilizations, handed down to us from our ancestors. Consult the elders in your family and ask them where your lineage dates back to. Ask if there are any stories held in your family that are significant. Most importantly, if you want to connect with your ancestors for protection, consult one of the reputable psychic mediums at Psychic Access for help tracing your bloodline back to your roots. You may be quite surprised who is waiting for you in Spirit!
