One of the best spiritual practices you can engage in is nature meditation, also known as nature mindfulness or eco-meditation. This form of meditation immerses you in the powerful life force energies of the natural world.

It is no coincidence that Japan, one of the most technologically advanced societies in the world, is also the birthplace of shinrin-yoku, more commonly known as “forest bathing” or “forest therapy.” The practice involves immersion in a forest environment for the purpose of enhancing mental, emotional, and physical well-being. The term “shinrin-yoku” translates to “breathing in the atmosphere of the forest.” Originating in Japan in the 1980s, forest bathing has since gained popularity worldwide as a spiritual wellness practice.


The energies of the plants and trees in nature are not the only healing energy frequencies we absorb from spending time in nature. The most important and often overlooked source of energy healing is the sun.

Have you ever noticed how everyone seems so much more alive, energetic, happier, healthier and kinder in the spring and summer months? It is because they are getting this electromagnetic energy charge every day by being in the sun and spending more time in nature.

Sunlight is pure electromagnetic energy and an essential energy source for life on Earth. Another fundamental spiritual practice is grounding, or earthing, which involves connecting to the earth’s natural electromagnetic charge by making direct physical contact with the ground.

One of the main reasons we have become so energetically ungrounded is the rubber soles we wear in our modern shoes, which reduce our contact with the earth’s electromagnetic charge and prevent the body from being grounded. The best way to practice grounding is to walk barefoot on natural surfaces such as grass, soil, sand, or even rocks. The direct contact between your feet and the earth allows for the exchange of electrons.

Other ways to ground your energy include sitting or lying on a grassy field or sandy beach, gardening, hiking in nature, rock climbing, and swimming in natural waters. My personal favorite is to practice yoga outdoors, especially on natural surfaces.
