Hold Your Tongue To Protect Your Peace
Some people deal with unresolved pain in their lives, and that pain often shows up in their words. You can usually feel it right away. Their words can feel heavy, sharp, or draining, like they disrupt the energetic balance of a space.
In spiritual work, one of the first lessons one learns is that words carry vibration.
If you’re the kind of person who’s intuitive, empathic or highly sensitive, this kind of exposure can feel especially overwhelming, leaving you emotionally upset or energetically drained. This reaction isn’t a sign of weakness. It’s just your inner guidance that tells you when something’s off.
It’s important to be discerning on a spiritual path. You don’t have to respond to every person or comment. Not every interaction needs a response.
When someone’s speaking from a place of anger, fear, or unresolved issues, you’re totally allowed to take a step back and choose not to engage with it. Silence isn’t avoidance. It’s all about being mindful of your energy use and being spiritually mature.
Take a breath before you react. Bring your awareness into your body and ground yourself in the present moment. Try to respond with clarity instead of emotion. Meditation, prayer, or just taking some time for yourself can help you get in sync with your higher self instead of getting caught up in reactive patterns.
Words are powerful tools. They can heal or harm, uplift or drain. If someone’s always negative or trying to hurt others, you’ve got to shield your energy.
Hold your tongue and live your life, for it is in the way that you live that you speak the loudest ~ Craig D. Lounsbrough
One good way to start is by grounding yourself. Put your feet on the floor and picture roots going deep into the ground. Breathe in and feel that stability and calm rising up through your body.
Next, picture a soft but bright light forming around you, like a gentle cocoon. This light acts more like a boundary than a wall. It lets love, clarity, and compassion move outward while keeping heavy or intrusive energy from settling in you.
Finally, set a clear intention, like “Only pure and positive energy that aligns with love, truth, and compassion is welcome in my space.”
This super simple practice can be done in just a few seconds and is especially helpful before difficult conversations or after emotionally charged encounters.
Many spiritual and mystical traditions teach us that the tongue is powerful, and that our words are magical. People talk in negative and even destructive ways all the time, but they don’t always mean it consciously. This is a dangerous habit.
Choose to be thoughtful with your words or stay silent for your spiritual protection and highest good. Being mindful with your words can help you escape out of karmic loops and prevent energetic cords from forming with other through conflict and reaction.
Whoever of you loves life and desires to see many good days, keep your tongue from evil and your lips from telling lies ~ Psalm 34:12-13
For people who include faith in their spiritual practice, letting go of tough situations to God can bring peace and relief. Trust that things that don’t need your input will be handled at a higher level. Surrender isn’t about being passive. It’s about having faith in God’s plan and timing.
If you can keep your cool when others try to stir you up, you’ll stay focused and collected. It’s great for helping you chill out and ease stress without any hassle. Sometimes the best answer is nothing at all.
You’re not responsible for fixing or waking others up. It’s all about respecting and protecting your own energy!
Choose words, thoughts, and actions that support peace and balance. In a world where people use language carelessly, not saying anything at all becomes a sacred act. It’s about being wise, keeping your spiritual side strong, and being committed to living in a way that’s in harmony with your beliefs.
