New Year, New Habits, And A New You!

221430205_mMany people make resolutions every year that are never kept. They make a sincere effort for a month or so, and then it just slips here and there until whatever they decided to do just falls by the wayside. This is normal, and you should never beat yourself up if you make a resolution or promise and don’t follow through. Growth is a process, not a straight line.

When I decide to do something, the first thing I do is meditate on it. I ask my guides and angels, “Is this right for me? Will this improve my life? If I don’t do this, will it hurt me or someone else? If the answers are yes, yes, and no, then I know it’s the right thing for me to do.

I do not reserve this for New Year’s resolutions. I do this throughout the year whenever I feel spiritual growth within myself or experience something that sparks change, whether positive or negative. A new year can begin any day you decide to change some aspect of your life. It doesn’t have to be January 1st; it can be any day.

Personally, I make a new “resolution” each month. At the end of each month, I reflect and ask myself if I’ve accomplished what I set out to do. If not, I set it aside and move on to something new. Eventually, I return to the unfulfilled goal, knowing that the timing wasn’t right. I don’t beat myself up about unfinished goals; instead, I send them love and leave them for later.

My most important resolution is to get closer to Spirit. I strive to understand what Spirit has in store for me and to guide me to become the best version of myself from the inside out. The outward appearance can be dressed up or down, but the true self must be healed, clear, and joyful. That joy doesn’t come from another person or thing – it comes from loving myself as it should be for you. Love yourself as you are in this moment, and nurture the new version of yourself with daily love, meditation, and surrender to your higher self.

When you embark on a personal transformation, it must come from within, and you will know when the time is right. There will be no internal debate. Close your eyes, sit in silence, and take a deep, mindful breath. Ask your guides to show you the right path for whatever it is you’re seeking in your life: love, abundance, a material object, money, better health, balance, or spiritual growth. Sit quietly and meditate on your request. Focus on one thing at a time. This prevents your thoughts from becoming confused and ensures clarity in the guidance you receive.

Sometimes you may not receive an answer immediately. This doesn’t mean that your wish is not for you; it just means that the time is not right. You can always meditate again. However, once you receive an answer or guidance, resist the urge to meditate on the same question repeatedly. Doing so may signal distrust in your guides, and subsequent answers may feel unclear or contradictory.

Meditations don’t have to be long. They can be as short as five minutes. Short, focused meditations often produce the best results because they keep you engaged and prevent you from feeling overwhelmed or bored. Be concise with your questions and intentions.

Remember that you are an incredible person and that your guides and angels want the best for you. When you believe in yourself and trust this support, it becomes easier to manifest your desires. Embrace your power and value – it is already within you.

The Vital Role Of Habit Change

Personal transformation, however, often requires more than increased self-awareness or a few sessions of meditation. It typically involves changing or breaking unwanted habits, which requires both intention and consistent effort. Research on habit change has revealed several key findings about what works and what doesn’t. Studies consistently show that habit formation is a gradual process that requires consistent repetition over time.

For example, one longitudinal study found that participants who consistently performed a desired behavior over a 90-day period were more likely to form lasting habits. However, self-control alone was not a significant factor in habit formation; instead, creating an environment that supports the desired behavior was critical.

On the other hand, research has also identified common pitfalls in habit change. One major challenge is the conflict between short-term desires and long-term goals. People often struggle to resist immediate temptations, which can derail their efforts to adopt new habits. In addition, fickle motivation and lack of immediate rewards can hinder the process of breaking old habits and forming new ones. Effective strategies often include setting clear, achievable goals, creating a supportive environment, and using tools such as habit tracking to maintain consistency.

How To Change A Habit

By combining practical strategies with spiritual tools, you can create lasting, meaningful change that aligns with your highest self and spiritual goals:

ACKNOWLEDGE THE PROBLEM

Identify the bad or unwanted habit you want to change and why it no longer serves you. Awareness is the first step to change. Reflect on how this habit aligns with or blocks the intentions of your higher self. Ask yourself: Does this habit support or hinder my well-being, joy or personal fulfillment?

IDENTIFY TRIGGERS AND PAYOFFS

Reflect on the situations, emotions, or thoughts that lead to the habit. Consider what external circumstances or internal states consistently precede it. Then look more closely at the “payoff” of the habit-what reward or benefit does it offer for you. Does it provide comfort, distraction, or a sense of control? Identifying the payoff helps you address the underlying need in a healthier, more constructive way.

Unresolved karmic debt and unhealed trauma wounds often manifest as unwanted habits because they serve as coping mechanisms to deal with unresolved pain or unmet needs. These habits can act as temporary “Band-Aids” that provide a sense of relief, distraction, or control in the face of deeper emotional or spiritual imbalances.

For example, a habit may be formed to numb feelings of guilt, shame, or fear rooted in past-life experiences or unresolved trauma from this lifetime. The payoff lies in the habit’s ability to temporarily soothe these wounds, even if it ultimately hinders growth. By recognizing the karmic or traumatic origins of these behaviors, we can begin to heal the underlying wounds, making it possible to release the habit and cultivate healthier, more aligned patterns of action.

Explore whether the habit you want to change may be due to unresolved karmic cycles, inherited ancestral patterns, or energetic blockages in your aura or chakras. Ask yourself: Does this habit reflect generational wounds or a spiritual imbalance? Practices such as shadow work, which involves confronting and integrating repressed aspects of yourself, can reveal emotional or energetic roots. Similarly, past-life regression can uncover recurring themes or soul lessons associated with the habit, providing insight into why it persists. By addressing these spiritual layers, you can release the habit at its core, creating space for true transformation.

SET A CLEAR INTENTION

Define the new habit you want to adopt or cultivate. Be specific about the change you want to see. Set your intention with awareness and energy. You can write it down or speak it out loud, channeling your higher self. Ask your guides and angels for support. Use affirmations to anchor your intention, such as “I release patterns that no longer serve me. I am aligning myself with my highest good.

Replacing an unwanted habit with a better one is often the most effective strategy because habits form through repetition and meet specific needs, whether physical, emotional, or psychological. Simply eliminating a habit usually leaves a void that can cause discomfort or temptation to return.

By introducing the old habit with a positive replacement, you redirect the same energy and intent into constructive behavior that aligns with your goals and values. This approach not only changes your actions, it also rewires your brain, creating new neural pathways that reinforce the desired change, making it more sustainable and fulfilling.

CULTIVATE A NEW HABIT

Start introducing the healthier or more constructive behavior to gradually fill the void left by the old habit and replace it with a new way of being. Infuse your new habit with positive energy and accountability check-ins every day using your preferred spiritual practices, such as affirmations, prayer, mindfulness, candle magic, crystal healing, breathwork, journaling, and so on.

Develop a consistent routine to support the change. Incorporate rituals, such as lighting a candle or meditating, to symbolize your commitment. Use tools such as crystals (e.g., amethyst for transformation) or sigils that represent your desired outcome. Use divination (such as tarot or oracle cards) to gain insight into your path forward. Visualize yourself successfully embodying this change and surround the process with a high vibration of gratitude, love, and peace. Stay present and observe your thoughts and actions without judgment. This awareness can prevent relapse.

SEEK SUPPORT

Share your goal with trusted friends, family, or mentors who can provide encouragement and accountability. Call on your spiritual allies, such as your ancestors and loved ones in spirit, the angels, spirit guides, deities or your higher power for strength and clarity.

Another helpful step when embarking on a personal transformation is to seek a psychic reading from a reputable psychic or medium. They can provide unique insights and guidance to help you gain clarity and confidence in your journey. A skilled reader can illuminate areas of your life that may need attention and offer spiritual support as you move forward.

Engaging in energy healing practices, such as Reiki or chakra balancing, can help clear energetic blockages that may be contributing to the habit. In addition, practicing forgiveness – of yourself and others – can release emotional burdens associated with the habit and support your healing journey.

If you feel overwhelmed or are struggling with deep trauma or mental health issues that reinforce the habit, consider seeing a therapist, counselor, or medical professional. They can offer tailored strategies and emotional support to help you effectively address the root causes.

For habits that involve serious substance abuse or other forms of addiction, it’s important to seek specialized help, such as addiction counselors, recovery programs, or support groups like Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) and Narcotics Anonymous (NA). These worldwide, community-based organizations support individuals seeking recovery from alcohol and drug addiction. Both use a 12-step program that emphasizes mutual aid, personal responsibility, and spiritual growth to help members achieve and maintain sobriety. These programs provide structured guidance, a supportive community, and tools to help you manage cravings and rebuild your life.

FORGIVE YOURSELF

If you slip, acknowledge it without guilt and recommit to your goal. Growth is a process. View setbacks as part of your soul’s learning journey. Forgive yourself with compassion, understanding that you are healing and evolving. Whatever happens, center and ground yourself, renew your commitment to change, and get back on track as soon as possible. Remember, it is a process.

ACKNOWLEDGE YOUR PROGRESS

Evaluate your progress regularly and refine your approach as needed. Journal about how this change aligns with your soul’s purpose. Celebrate small victories and reflect on how the new habit is taking root and improving your life. Honor your successes or breakthroughs with gratitude rituals, no matter how small or humble they may be. Visualize your new habit radiating out from your energy field, raising your vibration.

Consistency is key – practice your new behavior every day and be patient with yourself if you falter. Remember that change is gradual and setbacks are part of the process. Support yourself by creating a positive environment, seeking encouragement from trusted friends, and celebrating even the smallest victories.

Always remember this: You are a beautiful spiritual being on a fragile human journey. You are completely perfect just the way you are. Embrace and love yourself as you are now, as flawed as you may seem, and let self-love and your higher self guide you in creating your best life.
