The Powerful Practice Of Eye Gazing
Eye gazing, also known as ‘soul gazing,’ is a powerful meditative practice that can be done on your own, or with a partner. Eye gazing is an ancient tantric practice of looking deeply into someone’s eyes to foster a spiritual connection.
Eye gazing is a potent means of connecting with yourself and others to build genuine connection in your life. It is also an exciting way to build meaningful intimacy with a romantic partner. If you have trouble opening up to others, eye gazing can be an effective tool to help you get comfortable and confront any fears you may have around being seen. It can be done alone, with a friend, or with a romantic partner.
It is also a powerful tool for discovering how past lives may be helping or hindering you in your current incarnation, and for receiving messages directly from Spirit. It can be used as a method for communication with your guides and higher self.
Anyone can eye gaze, and I feel everyone should try it at least once! Whether you do it alone or with a partner, eye gazing can offer some profound insight and create potent shifts in our perspective that allow you to break limiting patterns in your life.
Eye gazing requires no special equipment or paraphernalia to set the mood, although it can be pleasant to light some incense or candles if desired. You can also use music but ensure that it is meditative, gentle, instrumental music without lyrics that will not distract you. The only thing you really need is a timer, as well as a partner, or mirror if you are gazing by yourself.
Typically, I encourage people to start gazing for just a few minutes at a time, but as you become more comfortable you can certainly increase the length of your gazes.

Solo Gazing
Sit comfortably in front of a mirror so that you can see your eyes and face clearly in the reflection.
Set a timer for anywhere from 7 to 11 minutes.
Start the timer, then begin by focusing on your breath, ensuring a slow, comfortable rhythm.
Fix your gaze on your eyes and simply look without any expectations. If thoughts come into your mind, let them come and go. Try not to engage with the thoughts, just let them pass. This is your time for you.
Allow your gaze to drift from one eye to the other, if you feel drawn to do so.
Afterwards it can be helpful to write down any mental impressions and feelings that came up during the gaze.
Gazing With A Friend
Sit comfortably across from one another. If you are seated cross-legged, you may find it’s easiest if you are close enough that your knees are touching.
Set a timer anywhere from 7 to 11 minutes.
Take a few calming breaths together, to align with each other’s energy, then ask if your partner is ready.
Start the timer and fix your gaze on your partners eyes. You may find yourself drawn to one eye more than the other, or that you wish to drift between your partners two physical eyes and the third eye. It’s best to move with your intuition here, just don’t break the eye contact.
Once the timer goes off, debrief with your partner. Share your experience truthfully with each other. What did you feel? What impressions did you get? Did you receive any intuitions or messages?
I find that I often receive messages directly from Spirit on behalf of my gazing partners. I also perceive insights around past lives and concurrent lives and uncover where some of these energies are influencing them in this incarnation.
Once someone understands why they are affected as they are, this helps to create seriously powerful shifts and break limiting patterns. By reintegrating those old experiences, which may have been difficult or traumatic in past lives, we essentially take the charge out of those experiences. They become energies which help to raise our vibration and consciousness, rather than hold us back.

Gazing With A Romantic Partner
Sit comfortably across from one another, close enough that your knees are touching.
Set a timer for 7 to 11 minutes and start it when you are ready.
Place your hand over your partner’s heart, and let your partner place their hand over yours. With your other hand cover your partner’s hand that rests on your chest, and vice versa.
Fix your gaze on your partners eyes. Match the rhythm of your breathing; as your partner exhales, you inhale, and as they inhale, you exhale. Maintain this rhythm of breath throughout the gaze.
Allow yourself to drift between each other’s two physical eyes and the third eye, as it feels natural.
Once your timer goes off, debrief with your partner. Share your experience with each other. What did you feel? What impressions did you get? Did you receive any intuitions or messages? Have them share their experience with you too.
You can also use this technique in a sexual context with your partner to deepen sensual intimacy. Try eye gazing while in the nude and allow the experience to evolve as it will. If you wish to carry the energy of the gaze into a sensual act, remember to still debrief afterwards.
Eye gazing can be used as a modality for healing, deepening spiritual understanding and self-awareness, and meaningful connection with others. Eye-gazing is easily one of my favorite spiritual practices to facilitate spiritual, personal, and transpersonal healing and growth.
