Empower Yourself With Astrological Intention
Astrology is to me like a metaphysical best friend. It is a way to reflect in the mirror and expand my personal growth. By applying it daily over the past decade my life has become more mindful, and miraculous. I’ve also noticed that challenging astrological aspects, such as squares and oppositions, have become easier for me to deal with.
An astrological square is considered one of the more adverse aspects in a chart. This placement is when two planets are separated by three zodiac signs and therefore positioned at a 90-degree angle in the chart at the time of birth. This creates competing tension between the energies of these two planets which neither can win, forcing them to compromise and somehow meet each other halfway.
An astrological opposition is another extremely challenging aspect in a chart. This placement happens when two planets are exactly opposite each other in the zodiac at 180 degrees apart. This means these two planets are in opposing signs and as far apart as they can possibly be on the astrological wheel. Their unique energies are therefore polar opposite, causing conflict, drama, and power clashes.
I keep track of these events in my chart because I incorporate daily astrological intentions in my life as part of my spiritual routine. My practice is to map out each day’s relevant transits and to then meditate on the significant aspects. I also pray for assistance where needed, such as with the significant squares and oppositions in my daily chart. Then, I go about my day.
Astrology is like a weather report; it tells you what conditions you’re likely to face in the future. If the weatherman says it’s probably going to rain, you bring an umbrella. If you follow that advice, you won’t get wet. ~ Lee Goldberg
If I stumble and fall throughout the day, I slow down or stop to reflect. I also end the day by contemplating the various challenges I faced and how I overcame them. If I didn’t fully overcome them, I pray for courage and support to make amends for those mistakes. I also ask for guidance on the wisest methods to make amends. Often, the best amends is changed behavior in the future, rather than going back to fix past mistakes.
I believe the main reason I can more easily navigate the effects of such challenging astrological energies in my life is due to the fact that I’ve done a lot of work to raise my energy frequency and consistently maintain a higher vibration.
Investing daily in spiritual practice and self-care augments the favorable transits in our chart, while offsetting the more stressful aspects. Another way of looking at it is seeing the ‘glass half-full’ concerning one’s chart. For example, Mars will enter a troublesome square with my natal Mercury in the next few weeks. Now, I can waste time and energy by dwelling on how bad this is going to be or lamenting my terrible fate, or I can prepare myself by taking proactive steps to minimize potential stressors related to Mercury, such as travel, communication, and technology.
I can also choose to focus on how Mars forms a redeeming aspect to my natal Jupiter in the third house (whose natural ruler is Mercury) during the transit. Jupiter’s energy is forgiving and graceful. I may even realize creative comebacks by transcending this Mars-Mercury aspect, instead of allowing it to make me stumble!
Spiritual growth is like learning to walk. We stand up, fall, stand up, fall, take a step, fall, take a couple of steps, fall, walk a little better, wobble a bit, fall, run, and finally, eventually fly ~ Geri Larkin
Another key to constructively dealing with challenging astrological transits is to be comfortable making mistakes. Nobody is perfect and we are most admirable and beautiful when we are vulnerable and humble. Embrace your lessons and roll with the punches. We are all amazingly flawed works in progress. ‘Mistakes’ create wonderful opportunities for reflection, growth, and wisdom. If we lack the courage to make errors, we stop growing and become harsh, inflexible, tyrannical, and thick-headed.
Also, when we put our belief in the higher power of God, Source, Spirit, the Divine to support, protect and guide us, no obstacle is too great, and no faith too small. Continuing to open our chakras during times of crisis ensures our progress. We extend our minds toward endeavors we once thought impossible.
Many spiritually enlightened individuals proudly proclaim “positive vibes only!” As if negativity never existed? I see things quite differently. Spiritual resilience and self-love act as a sponge or shock absorber for all negativity. It empowers you to snuff any flame of negativity, without burning or even noticing the heat.
