Connecting With Your Inner Wisdom
In a world rife with uncertainty and daily challenges, most of us are bound to turn to other people in our life to help us deal with our problems or regain a sense of direction. While this is perfectly normal and human to do, spirit teaches that it is best we also connect with our higher self to find the answers we are seeking.
Unfortunately, trauma and stress can significantly block the clarity of our intuition, prevent us from gaining access to our inner wisdom and divine guidance. The following strategies can help us reconnect with our inner being and build a stronger connection with our inner guidance system.
Ignore The Noise
Stop listening to the opinions and views of others. I am not suggesting that you should never take good advice, but be selective about who you choose to listen to. And if their opinion does not resonate with your inner being, walk away.
Too much external ‘noise’ can really block your instincts if you become preoccupied with what others think. There is also the fear of upsetting others or not living up to certain social norms or family expectations. If you were to give in to this, you may very well find yourself living other people’s dreams and ambitions instead of your own.
Avoid the kind of ‘well-meant’ advice that usually only serve the needs of the one advising you. Politely thank them for their interest and concern, but disregard their opinions and simply go ahead with what your inner voice advises. The Chinese Philosopher Lao Tzu said, “He who knows others is wise; he who knows himself is enlightened.”

Open Your Mind
Try to be too a little more open-minded and adventurous in your thinking, goals and your beliefs, and a little less logical and skeptical. In our modern world it is generally argued that if something cannot be proven or measured by science, then it cannot and should not be trusted, and doing so could only lead to failure and disaster.
Indeed, we have to generally be pragmatic and go with our logic when living our day to day lives. Otherwise, chaos could ensue. However, if you were to ask many successful innovators, entrepreneurs, and artists, they would more than likely tell you that much of their success is due to them following their own intuition above all else.
Improve Your Listening
There are so many practical ways to better connect with your intuition. Doing so will lead to a more empowered life of confidence and abundance.
For example, if your body becomes tense when you are asking your intuition a question, the answer is probably no. Should your body become relaxed when you ask the question, then the answer is most likely yes!
Another practical way to do this is to simply focus on what you instinctively sense to be the truth. What feels authentic and proper is usually the right way to go.
Identify Your Style
We all have our own style of receiving guidance. Personally, I know my intuition is at work when I get flashes of images in my mind’s eye. I also hear an inner voice that sounds a lot like me. It is different for all of us, and there are no rules or restrictions to what your personal intuitive method can be. Meditate on it, or pray, and ask spirit to reveal it to you and teach you how to make use of it.
Journaling is another excellent way of not only expressing yourself but also collecting information that can ultimately lead you to figure out how your hunches work. Keep notes of your inner perceptions and review how accurate they were over time. Chances are your will discover new insights and even a few surprises.

Trust Your Gut
As a practicing psychic, my clients often say they do not know whether it is their gut they are listening to, or their mind. Am I believing this because I want to believe it, or because my gut is telling it is true?
Getting into the habit of trusting one’s gut is not easy in the world we have been raised to live in. Our primitive ancestors were much better at this. However, making a real effort to check in with your inner guidance more regularly, and being more open to receiving consistent messages from spirit when you do so, you will in time come to know more inner wisdom with more certainty.
Has your gut failed you in the past? Our gut is never wrong. Our higher self does not make mistakes. If it seems that your intuition may have failed you, carefully consider what really happened at the time. You will probably find that your ego or your lack of attention was the true cause. If so, don’t dwell on this too much or believe that this will always be the case.
Don’t shut the door to your inner wisdom by losing your self-trust or self-belief. Instead, see past failures as simple learning curves and continue working on building your higher self connection.
Face The Truth
There is no way your higher self can be hoodwinked or negotiated with. Therefore, whenever you are tapping into your inner guidance system, be prepared to listen to what it has to tell you – even if it is not exactly what you want to hear.
Take Some Action
What is the point of listening to your hunches and gut feelings, but then not acting on them? Your intuition is your internal GPS. It points you in the direction of your dreams. It will not, however, do the heavy lifting for you. For that you will need to take some action yourself to begin turning your dreams into a reality.
For example, if you want to start your own business, but your inner voice says that now is not the right time, rather than give up, start preparing yourself for when the time is right. Don’t just sit around and wait for better days. Start doing something.
