We Choose Our Way Of Being In The World
Our material belongings reveal much about how we tend to operate in this world. For example, I can look at the make of a person’s vehicle, as well as the model, size, and color, and instantly get a sense of how they navigate through life. I further believe we also choose our way of being in this world, based on our spiritual mindset.
A good friend and I own the same make of car, but different models. Mine happens to be a smart car and hers is a jeep. This makes perfect sense to me in terms of our personalities and lifestyle.
I am small in stature, so it is only logical that my preferred vehicle would also be small, snug and space efficient. She, on the other hand, frequently has to transport passengers, as well as plants, clothes and a variety of household items that belong to the members of her family.
More interestingly, however, is that both of us have experienced the exact same technical problem with our cars. There was a time when both our cars suddenly indicated that the brake lights were no longer functioning.
When that little warning light came on in my car, I immeditately sensed the worst, but I secretly hoped that only the bulbs might need to be changed. To my shock and horror, the entire panel eventually had to be replaced. The day I took the car in to be fixed, I miraculously escaped a major traffic accident on my usual route at my usual travel time, because my car happened to be in the shop. Yes, sometimes a malfunctioning brake light can in fact save your life!
I trust in the ebb and flow of the universe. I trust that life’s bigger than what I can see. I trust that there is a divine order beyond my control. And I trust that no matter what happens, I will be all right ~ Oprah Winfrey
My friend chose the path of resistance when her car’s dashboard started acting up. Not accepting that this is how things sometimes go with material things, she feared having to face a massive repair bill and chose to ignore the problem instead. In the end, it cost her much more due to further electrical damage, as well as having to pay a traffic fine for broken tail lights!
These events confirmed for me once again how people face setbacks in life differently and how some of us readily go with the flow and accept the things we cannot be change or control, while others live a life of perpetual resistance, frustration, anger, anxiety, self-sabotage and fear.
I am a firm believer that we always have the choice to change our thoughts, feelings and actions in any given situation. There is only one thing in life we totally control, and that is ourselves. How we operate in this world comes down to what we choose to believe and how we choose to manage our lives.
Had my choice in this matter been off, I would have to seriously consider what was going on in my life that I was neglecting all the cues and signs that are freely given to me by God, Source, Spirit, the Divine. If I were to ignore or steamroll over what I was supposed to be paying attention to, it would not only have been thoughtless on my part and disrespectful to my own spirit, but also thoroughly ungrateful towards the benevolent guidance, support, and protection of a higher power.
No matter what annoyances or even serious issues you may face, there is always an element of grace involved. All aspects of your life experience can be fulfilling and blessed, if you choose to see them as such ~ Leo Carver
When we are in alignment with our inner guidance and aware of spirit’s presence in our life, we never need to feel unnerved or devastated by the stoppages, hurdles and obstacles that physical life may bring.
In an everyday state of mindful higher consciousness, we trust that the universe always has our back and that everything happens for a reason. There is no need to live in a pessimistic world of constant fear, anxiety, and worry. And if adverse situations and life challenges are repeatedly being presented to us, we need to contemplate what the universe may trying to tell us.
