Are You Living An Unexamined Life?
According to Socrates, “The unexamined life is not worth living.” This statement is very powerful, yet it has a very simple meaning. What you do not change, does not change you. When your actions remain the same, so do the results. If you cannot examine the things that are eating at you, the things that have gone wrong in your life, and even the things that have gone right, nothing changes.
We must look at our life and go behind the mask that we may be wearing, to cover up the fact that we are vulnerable inside. There are often so many aspects to our life that requires change in order to move forward to a better place.
For example, are you repeatedly settling for the same type of person as a partner and find it constantly failing? Are you going to a dead-end job day in and day out, that you hate so much that merely entering the workspace already makes you despise the day before it even starts? Do you look in the mirror and see things about yourself that makes you miserable?
Take off the mask of pretension and make an effort to change what isn’t working. Examine why you keep repeating the same patterns.
If you are ending up with the same type of person every time, ask yourself why? Are you trying to meet someone in the same way? Are you settling for someone that is not all that you would like, but feel it’s better than to have no one at all? Are you compromising on what you want? If they are not what you seek, cut them loose. They are not going to suddenly change.
Push yourself to do more and to experience more. Harness your energy to start expanding your dreams. Yes, expand your dreams. Don’t accept a life of mediocrity when you hold such infinite potential within the fortress of your mind. Dare to tap into your greatness ~ Robin Sharma
If you are miserable at your job, examine why. Is it the actual job, or the people around you? Is it your boss or the work environment? Is it mundane or stressful? Is it aligned with your life purpose? Examine this and figure out what you need to do to change it. If you need additional schooling to move forward, take steps to change that aspect of your life. Even if it’s one course at a time, it is a step forward. If it is the people, start putting a bigger smile on your face when you get to work and aim to exude joy, even if it’s not what you truly feel. They will start to see a better side of you and eventually they will exude that same joy around you.
When you look in the mirror, simply love every inch and aspect of who you are. That wrinkle or gray hair means you have truly lived life. You have taken chances and overcome challenges. Embrace yourself and your inner, as well as outer beauty, because you truly are beautiful. Accept yourself first, before asking others to accept you. Spirit, God, Source, the Universe loves you unconditionally for who you are, and when you love yourself in that same way, your life will change.
You will be a whole new you if you allow yourself to change. Trust in spirit and trust yourself. Trust also that there is much goodness in the world, that spirit supports you every day, and that change for the better is always possible and within your reach.
