How To Find Your Inner Peace
Around the world we are being faced with a crisis situation that is bringing many negative feelings to the surface. Fear, anxiety, sadness, confusion, mistrust, frustration, anger. How you are faring during this time? What emotional responses are coming to the surface for you?
I have been following the news around the world. I have seen some leaders scoff at and make light of the situation, while others take it extremely seriously. There seems to be no unanimity or consistency in the messages we receive, and there appears to be a lack of consensus among the leadership and experts.
How then can we as individuals find inner peace and unity in all this chaos? The following guidelines may be helpful to you in the days ahead.
Turn Off The News
First things first: reduce your daily exposure to the news, and fact check everything you do choose to pay attention to. Most of all, do not believe everything you see on social media! Many of the stories going around are false reports, conspiracy theories and fake news. Some media outlets are also creating more fear and drama than we should have to deal with. Remember that in many cases sensationalism often equals sales. Choose your sources carefully and listen to your inner guidance and follow your intuition.

Ground Your Energy
Next, center and ground yourself. Start with where you are right now. Look at your feet, plant them firmly on the ground. Look at those feet and declare, “I am grounded. My roots will keep me in the moment and not in the space of what if.”
Then look at your hands and place them over your heart. Can you feel it beating? Is it beating quickly, slowly, or just right? As you place your hands on your heart, declare, “I am at peace with myself. I am whole. My heart is beating in perfect timing for my emotions at the moment. However, I know my heart is perfectly calm when it needs to be. I am healthy, whole and will not fall into the what if.”
Now close your eyes, and in your mind, your third eye, scan your body for places that feel like they are rocking your core, by being out of sync with who you truly are. Declare in your silence, “I am at peace, I am safe and whole inside from the depth of my core, to the bottom of my feet, to above my crown. I am at peace and I will never fall into the what if.”
Take some deep slow breaths. Breathe in love, throughout your body, from your feet to your crown, and then from your crown to your feet. Take your time, this is not a race. Feel each breath energizing and clearing negativity, fear and anger from you and bringing you back to your true beautiful self. Feel the calm when you breath. Feel your heart beat slowing down. Feel your shaking dissipating.
What is the experience you feel when you breathe? If you feel nothing, do the entire process again, and remember, this is not a race. Do each step slowly and consciously.
To bear trials with a calm mind robs misfortune of its strength and burden ~ Seneca
Avoid Judgment
Right now is not a time to be judgmental, and yes, even I have found myself in that space lately and have had to kick it out of my psyche. If only our leaders would have acted quicker. If only I would have paid more attention. Why are they outside and I’m stuck in here? There are so many things we can judge, second guess or complain about at this time. However ‘what if’ has never solved anything, nor will it fix anything at this time.
Stay Busy
Be safe, believe in yourself and your ability to change your inner energy at this time, and practice finding your peace. This situation will not go on forever. Take time to do something useful or fun, finish those things you have been outing off for so long. Read that book, clean a room or a closet, call a friend or relative. Make this a time of personal growth. Do whatever feels good for you in this moment. Find your quiet space, your peace in this moment. Shine your light from the inside out!
