Take Some ‘Me Time’ This Holiday Season
The current holiday celebrations, extensive to-do-lists and family gatherings is usually a hectic time of the year for many. But this year we can expect it to be even worse.
Whether you are battling the crazy crowds at the mall doing your last minute shopping, or trying to find a way to inform co-workers or family that you don’t particular enjoy holiday gatherings, or simply dealing with the stress of trying to do it all and be perfect at it, things are going to be just a bit more difficult this year with the incoming energy of Mercury Retrograde.
When you are compassionate with yourself, you trust in your soul, which you let guide your life. Your soul knows the geography of your destiny better than you do ~ John O’Donohue
This year, with family that is far away and the added cost of trying to get that special something for each grandchild and child, I realized that my energy was draining faster than I could bring it back. The joy of the season was slowly dissipating for me, and I found that the tears would flow more often than I was laughing. So, why has this season brought so much stress?
I looked at the readings of the planets, and of course, especially our old foe Mercury Retrograde, which can be a thorn in so many people’s sides every time it comes around. I then realized that I was allowing the negative energy and pull to overshadow my true self, and I was becoming one of those cranky, miserable people that you hate running into at this time of the year.
Over the next few weeks, try to take some time for yourself. Set aside a few minutes (an hour if possible) every single day to just concentrate on yourself. Spend this quality ‘me time’ in meditation, or a bath with salts and healing oils, or get a massage. You can also indulge in some silly chit chat with a close friend, or simply journal about your feelings. Just make sure you are making yourself a priority!
In my work, I am not immune to many of these feelings or emotions. I simply have to take time for self-care. It is imperative for me, and therefore I understand how important it is for everyone.
One of my daily routines is working with essential oils. I have long been an advocate of natural sources for the human body (inside and out) and through my years of working with crystals and oils, I have discovered several mixes which will calm me, or invigorate me – depending on my energy level. If you are interested in knowing some of the recipes or groups of oils for various areas of life, please feel free to contact me on Psychic Access and I will answer your questions.
Another area of my life includes experimenting with diverse spiritual practices and alternative healing modalities. They usually make me feel better and I highly recommend that you make yourself a priority and do the same. My favorites include Indian Head Massage, Reiki, Rainbow Technique, Reflexology, Massage, Drumming, Meditation and Journaling. Sometimes it’s simply doodling, or drawing.
To experience peace does not mean that your life is always blissful. It means that you are capable of tapping into a blissful state of mind amidst the normal chaos of a hectic life ~ Jill Bolte Taylor
Each one of us is unique. There is something that calls to you and that you either want to try, or have tried but just didn’t feel you were worth continuing with it or had the excuse of, “I don’t have time.” Do not let time pass you by. It is important to make the time for yourself and not wake up one day saying, “I wish I would have.”
You are here now. Your life, well-being and energy level matters. That is what creates a good space or negative space in your life. Take ‘me time’ to care for yourself and tell Mercury Retrograde you are not going to put up with the negative energy that this holiday season brings.
You do not have to get drawn into the negativity out there, simply say, “I matter.” And then do something about it. You do matter and I believe in you.
