Always Choose Your Gut Over Your Heart And Mind
We all have a higher purpose in this lifetime, and yet many never awaken to it, much less achieve it, because their ego has become more prominent in their lives than their higher self.
How do you know if what you are doing is for your highest good? How do you make sure you are aligned with your soul purpose? How do you know if what you want out of life is based on your worldly desires instead of your spiritual mission in this lifetime?
Well, you listen to your inner guidance. You trust your intuition. You follow your gut.
When you were born, a deep-seated dream was placed within you. As children we are often more in touch with our true calling or purpose, but many of us lose that awareness as we grow older. Unfortunately, it has been buried by the expectations of society and the many distractions of the material world.
Often our parents, peers, teachers, and mentors play a significant role in this process of shutting down our spiritual awareness. Has anyone ever laughed at you when you told them what you wanted to do or be? Did someone say, “Go back and think about that because it will never happen”? Each of us has a different story as to why we do or don’t achieve our dreams in life.
Today is the day to decide, “I will achieve my dreams as long as they come from the spirit and are for my highest good.” It is time to look at your dreams for your life from a deeper perspective.
How do you feel when you take one of your dreams and really look at what it is? Do you feel lost? Do you feel hopeless or too late? Do you feel like it can never happen? Or are you filled with an optimistic energy that says, “I can do, be or have anything that is for my highest good.”
Intuition is the supra-logic that cuts out all the routine processes of thought and leaps straight from the problem to the answer ~ Robert Graves
When you take an “I can” attitude and know in your gut (not your heart) that your decisions are made with the help of your guides and angels, things will fall into place for you. Doors will open and opportunities to connect with others will present themselves.
When you are in a mindset of “I can,” you will feel a new energy deep in your gut from spirit urging you to move forward and follow your dreams. Your gut knows. It is a large part of what is needed to move forward on our soul journey.
When you feel the calm or even excited anticipation coming from your gut, you are on the right path. If your gut is telling you no, listen to it too. It is not saying that your dream is unattainable; it is simply saying that the way you are doing something is not for your highest good.
Each of us has the ability to connect on a soul level with spirit and our higher self to receive the messages and guidance we need, but we must be careful not to confuse what’s in our heart or our brain. It’s what’s in our gut. The brain is the center of our mental awareness, logic and rational thought, while the heart is our emotional center. Both the brain and the heart can send conflicting signals, as the brain can over-analyze or rationalize, and the heart can be clouded by negative emotions such as sadness, anger, jealousy, or revenge.
The gut, however, is the center of our intuition, the pure connection to our higher self and inner guidance. It’s more trustworthy in spiritual matters because it transcends emotional and mental confusion and offers direct insight from our soul. When we learn to listen to our gut, we align with our higher guidance, which leads us to deeper truths that can help us navigate life and relationships more authentically.
This is why so many relationships fail. Listening to the heart when the gut is telling you the opposite is often devastating. For example, many people get married when their gut says something is wrong, but their heart or mind says, “But I love him. A few years later, you wake up to find that your spouse has left you for someone else, and you are stunned as to why?
Simply put, you chose to listen to your temperamental or sentimental heart and your persuasive mind over the warnings of your gut. We often ignore the inner guidance to which we should pay attention.
This does not mean ignoring your thoughts and feelings. They are necessary for you to relate to yourself or others. They also play an important role in making sound decisions and choices. It is simply a matter of learning to differentiate what to pay attention to and when. Always go with your gut first and your heart and mind second.
Listen to your gut when making decisions, whether it is about your love life, career, material needs, spiritual growth, or life in general. You will always get the pure answers from spirit there, and the guidance will always be for your highest good.
The head and heart may be in denial of your human needs, but the gut will always carry the wisdom of your needs met and unmet, and thusly respond ~ Martha Char Love
Try some of these strategies to make sure you listen to your gut when making decisions in all areas of your life:
Mindfulness: Practicing mindfulness helps quiet mental chatter and emotional turmoil, making it easier to tune into your intuition without the distraction of overthinking or overreacting. Focus your attention fully on the present moment, observing your thoughts, emotions, and sensations without judgment or distraction. Take moments of silence, especially when you are facing a big decision. Silence helps you hear your inner guidance without external noise.
Energy Awareness: Pay attention to how your energy feels when you consider different choices or life situations. If you feel drained or heavy, it may not be in alignment with your higher self, but if you feel energized or uplifted, it’s usually a good sign. Doubt and fear also cloud intuition. Work on releasing them through prayer or grounding exercises so you can better listen to your gut.
First Impressions: Intuition speaks directly, quickly, and clearly. Pay attention to the immediate feeling you get in your gut before logic or emotion takes over.
Physical Sensations: Your gut feelings often manifest as physical sensations, such as a tightness in your stomach, a sinking feeling, or a sense of lightness. Learn how to read and trust these physical cues.
Direct Questions: When faced with a decision or difficult situation, ask your gut directly. Be still and listen without rationalizing or seeking reassurance from outside sources. Make sure your gut’s guidance is aligned with your core values and spiritual beliefs. Intuition will always lead you to decisions that are in alignment with your higher good.
Journaling: Writing down your thoughts and feelings can help you distinguish between heart, mind, and gut reactions, providing clarity and strengthening your intuitive awareness over time. Also reflect on past choices and mistakes. Think about times when you followed (or ignored) your gut. Reflecting on these outcomes can strengthen your trust in intuitive guidance for future decisions.
By practicing these techniques regularly, you can strengthen your ability to listen to your gut and ensure that your clearly receive the guidance for your highest good.
