Forgiving Yourself Is A Spiritual Necessity
Self-forgiveness is more than just a mental health recommendation – it is a spiritual necessity. It is vital for the spiritually aware person to release guilt, self-blame, and self-criticism, because forgiving oneself is crucial to both personal well-being and spiritual progress. Self-Forgiveness Exercise
If you are not sure where to begin, here is a simple yet powerful exercise to help you open up to self-forgiveness:
Create a sacred space: Find a quiet, special place where you feel comfortable. Enhance the atmosphere with a few candles or your favorite meditation music. You can also use an essential oil diffuser with some lavender, rose, ylang ylang, or chamomile to promote compassion and emotional healing. If you enjoy working with crystals, hold a piece of luvulite, peridot, okenite, or chrysoprase.
Center your energy: Take slow, deep breaths, inhaling through your nose and exhaling through your mouth. Focus on your breath, feeling the rise and fall of your chest. Focus on the present moment. Let go of any thoughts or worries and focus on the sensations in your body and the rhythm of your breath.
Ground your energy: Imagine roots growing from the bottom of your feet or the base of your spine, anchoring you to the earth. Visualize these roots sinking deep into the ground, providing stability and support.
Call upon higher guidance: Invite your ancestors, guides, the angels, or your higher power to help you navigate toward greater healing and spiritual evolution.
Identify your feelings: Reflect on the situation that is troubling you. Note where you feel the most anger, guilt, or resentment.
Acknowledge your role: Acknowledge that the only person you can change is yourself. Consider how your actions may have contributed to the situation and what you can do differently in the future.
Forgive and release: Place your hand over your heart and visualize all negative emotions dissolving. Forgive yourself and the other person for your role in the situation. Repeat to yourself: “I release all toxicity from this situation. I am clearing my heart and mind of guilt and self-blame. I am open to healing and growth.”
