The Who’s Who Of The Spirit Realm
Communicating and working with Spirit can become confusing when you need to discern who exactly it is that you are engaging with. Terms like Spirit Guides, Ascended Masters, Angels, Ancestors, among other, are often used in this context, but the distinction between these entities is not always made clear. It can be very confusing. For this reason, I have compiled a quick guide to the ‘who’s who’ of the spirit realm, and how to best work with each group of spirit energies.
Angels
Angelic beings are pure Love and Light. Angels have never experienced a human incarnation. They serve as our guides and protectors. Angels are our constant guides, steering us on our journey through life and helping us to achieve our dreams and goals.
They gently nudge us forward along our life path and deliver to us unconditional love from the Divine, but only if we ask for their support. They never overstep the Law of Free Will, unless it is a life-threatening situation that demands divine intervention.
You know you are in contact with an Angel if you feel warm ‘tingles,’ and a sense of unconditional love, inner peace and well-being.
Ascended Masters
Unlike Angels, the Ascended Masters are loving teachers. They are guides who have experienced human life on Earth. These beings have achieved self-actualization, enlightenment, or an ascended state of being. They have come into full alignment with their Higher Self.
Working with an Ascended Master is an opportunity to resolve our karma and release any limiting beliefs that may be hindering our soul’s journey towards realizing our God Self.
Like Angels, you know you’re communicating with an Ascended Master when you feel a sense of inner peace, certainty and well-being. I find that Ascended Masters also give repeated clues or signs of their presence in your life, such as books ‘coincidentally’ finding their way to you, or overheard conversations.
Our spirit guides are there, working on your behalf behind the scenes, whether you sense them or not. Sometimes it’s during the most challenging times in our lives that we can feel disconnected from Spirit, yet this is when Spirit can and wants to help us more than ever ~ Tanya Carroll Richardson
Loved Ones
Our departed Loved Ones in Heaven are often confused with Angels and Ascended Masters. They are the soul energies of our deceased soulmates, family members, relatives, and friends. They are a part of our soul family, or bound to us through love or unfinished business. They support, comfort and guide us in a similar way they would have while they were in this life.
You know you are working with a Loved One when you are given signs that have a special meaning unique to them, such as their favorite flower, smelling their perfume, or hearing their most-liked song on the radio.
Ancestors
Some of the Loved Ones who come forward to guide us are not necessarily relatives we personally knew in this life. Some of them are our Ancestors from previous generations, from great grandparents to the ancients. They remain active participants in the lives of their descendants and keep our family traditions and heritage alive.
Unlike our recently departed Loves Ones, our Ancestors have gathered more spiritual insight, wisdom and perspective. They are especially helpful in the healing of generational trauma and gaining a better understanding of our soul lineage and our place in history.
Spirit guides exist in the realm of infinite possibilities and are not confined by time or space. There is no limit to what they can do for us. In fact, the more they help us, the more they ascend ~ Deganit Nuur
Spirit Guides
In my view, Spirit Guides is a catch-all phrase used to represent all these allies in Spirit: Loved Ones, Ancestors, Ascended Masters, and Angels.
However, some prefer to define Spirit Guides as a category of beings who guide and serve us, and who like the Ascended Masters and our Ancestors, have all experienced lifetimes on Earth. However, unlike Ascended Masters, they have not ascended and may still be working off some karma, or other lessons while in our service.
I invite you to follow your own intuition to determine which of these definitions resonate most with you.
The safest way to work with Spirit Guides is to always request the Highest Guide available to you, who is in alignment and integrity with your Highest Good and Purpose. This will ensure you are communicating only with benevolent beings of Love and Light.
Never hesitate to ask for clarity and assistance if you are in any way confused or uncertain about who it is you are working with. Any God-sanctioned Guide or Divine Messenger must disclose their identity to you to serve your Highest Good. Their advice and guidance will never bring harm to you, or anyone else.
