The Manifesting Power Of Mindful Mornings
Mornings are special. The energy of the morning is different than at any other time. When the sunlight is still fresh and gentle, the world is calm and quiet, there is a magic to this time.
The first few moments of our day help to set the tone for our experiences throughout. Becoming aware and attuned to this fresh universal energy can be as simple as creating a small morning routine.
Now, I realize not everyone loves the morning as much as I do. If this is the case for you, the idea of creating a morning routine may not sound appealing at all. Starting with small, quick steps can make all the difference here.
Your morning routine is meant to set you up for success. It is about doing things you like in the morning, that get you in the right frame of mind and heart.
Bringing a bit of mindfulness into your morning can set you up energetically to respond more effectively to your experiences throughout the day.
Below is a list of things you can do in the morning to create a personalized routine that works for you. You certainly don’t have to do all them! Just pick one or two to get started and build from there.
While consistency is important, if something is not working for you, change it up and try something new. This routine should be fulfilling and meaningful to you.
Affirmations – Start saying ‘I AM’ affirmations. As you are getting ready in front of the mirror, look yourself in the eye and speak aloud three ‘I AM’ affirmations, for example: I am learning to let go of fear and negativity. I am worthy of abundance and fulfilment. I am grateful for all the good things in my life.
Gratitude – Place a note somewhere you are going to see it in the morning that reads: ‘What am I grateful for today?’ Every morning you see it list three things aloud.
When you arise in the morning, think of what a precious privilege it is to be alive, to breathe, to think, to enjoy, to love ~ Marcus Aurelius
Smile – The moment you wake up, smile. Even if you do not feel like you have a reason to, or you feel grumpy, smile anyway, just for a few seconds. Believe it or not, this can help to shift your brain into a more optimistic mindset.
Breathe – Take a few moments to practice some breathing exercises for centering and grounding. Coming at the day from a grounded mindset can make a huge difference in how we react to our experiences.
Meditate – Even if you do this for only 3 to 5 minutes. Bring your awareness to your heart and ask to bring that heart-centric energy into every moment of your day.
Mindfulness – Often when we wake, we just hit the ground running. Be mindful and present. Bring yourself back into the now. Spend a minute with yourself to regroup.
Pets – Cuddle your pet, if you have one. Pets are pure unconditional love and fantastic helpers to shift you into a higher energy vibration. A few morning cuddles can be incredibly beneficial both to us and them.
Stretch – This may be a bit ambitious if you don’t enjoy mornings. Still, a few gentle stretches are good for our body and our mind.
Intention – Set your intention for the day. What kind of day are you going to have? It is your choice! Speak up, say it out loud. Today is going to be…what? Productive? Fun? Peaceful? Set your intention and bring it with you for the day.
Journal – This one can be incredibly impactful if you can find the time to work it into your morning. I often encourage clients to keep a notepad by their bed and write down any dreams that stay with them after they wake.
It is in the early morning hour that the unseen is seen, and that the far-off beauty and glory, vanquishing all their vagueness, move down upon us till they stand clear as crystal close over against the soul ~ Sarah Smiley
Journaling in the morning can also serve another purpose. When we are sleeping our subconscious takes over. We are working through our experiences from a different level of perception. When we wake, we can potentially tap into this subconscious insight through something called free-association or automatic writing. Write whatever comes to you without judgement, just flowing with it. It can bring forward surprising and powerful insights.
While you may have to get up a few minutes earlier than usual to incorporate some of these practices in your morning routine, doing so can have a powerful impact on the rest of your day. As you make a habit of this practice, I suspect you will find yourself looking forward your time in the mornings. Even if it is only a few moments here and there.
As we get lost in our daily lives, prioritizing our own energetic imprint is something that we can forget to do. But as we are co-creating our reality, we must ask ourselves if we are projecting our intent for creation, or are we merely responding to what is already created? And which would you rather be doing?
I think about setting up my energy for the day the same way I think about brushing my teeth. Just like we have a daily personal hygiene and beauty routine, we also need to take care of our daily spiritual hygiene.
What is your intent for today? What do you wish to make of this new day? What will you do today with your incredible power to create and manifest?
