Psychic Messages In Mediumship Readings

A few years ago, I received what I initially thought was an evidential message from a deceased relative during a spiritualist service. It came from a well-respected medium who often gives psychic readings on stage and to groups.

But I eventually realized that the reading she gave me was actually a psychic reading of a living person’s thoughts about me, not a spirit message from the afterlife.

During the demonstration, the medium looked at me and said that she was sensing my female relative, but that it was not my mother. She described her age, appearance, and singing ability.

She also mentioned that this lady lived in a terraced house in the north of England and that we were similar in our ability to get things done, keep a tune, and stay active.

I was puzzled by this information because I felt certain that this had to be my maternal aunt, my mother’s only sibling, whom she was describing. My mom’s sister fit the age and appearance perfectly, she lived in a terraced house, and she used to sing at weddings and other events! I had no other female relatives who fit that description. So, it had to be her!

But there was just one problem: my maternal aunt was still very much alive and living her best life up there in Northern England! I then realized the medium had psychically picked up my aunt’s thoughts about me at that time. Yes, it is not commonly known that it is in fact possible for mediums to pick up psychic information about or from living people during a mediumship reading or spirit channeling.

I wasn’t disappointed because I felt that there must have been a reason for her to connect with my aunt that day, and it was nice to know that a distant relative was thinking about me! We had lost touch because of my estrangement from my mother. Prompted by this reading, I reached out to my aunt and it turned out to be a very healing and meaningful experience for both of us.

It is not uncommon for mediums to sometimes pick up the thoughts and energy of the living. While a medium’s primary focus during a reading is to communicate with the deceased, they can also connect with the energy fields of the living. This causes them to sometimes receive impressions, thoughts, and feelings from those who are still alive. This is only to be expected, considering the often repeated saying that “all mediums are psychics, but not all psychics are mediums.”

Mediumship Reading

Mediums, on the other hand, are able to communicate with the spirits of the deceased. In mediumship readings, mediums use exactly the same psychic abilities, but the focus is on connecting with the spirit realm rather than the living. Mediums act as intermediaries between the physical world and the spirit world, delivering messages from deceased loved ones. This process is known as spirit communication, or channeling. These messages from the afterlife provide comfort, closure, and validation to those grieving a loss, as well as evidence of the continuity of life beyond physical death.

In other words, mediums possess the same psychic abilities as psychics, since they must access information beyond the ordinary senses in order to communicate with the spirit realm. Therefore, all mediums can also perform psychic readings if and when they choose to do so.
