Chakra Balancing Is An Essential Self-Care Practice

Click Here NOW for a FREE psychic reading at PsychicAccess.comI recently attended a very informative talk given by a couple who are both energy healers. The husband is also a respected medium in our area. The topic was the chakra system and how to use it in an energy healing practice.

As a psychic practitioner, I already know a lot about the chakra system, but I am always open to other people’s perspectives and possibly even learning something new. I think it is important in any profession to keep an open mind and to have the desire to learn as much as possible. You are never too old, too wise, or too experienced to gain new insights!

So, I was pleasantly surprised that this talk turned out to be a wonderfully informative experience. In particular, the session reminded me of the importance of keeping one’s chakra wheels ‘in tune’, especially if one is in the business of healing or doing readings.

Clearing and balancing the chakras is vital because when a chakra is deprived of harmonious, free-flowing energy, it becomes unbalanced or even blocked, causing dysfunction in the organs and other mind-body functions associated with that chakra, as well as dysfunction throughout the rest of the entire chakra system.

As the two speakers explained, the chakras basically need to be “vacuumed, washed and treated” frequently, much like the carpets in your home or the interior of your car, to keep it clean and functioning optimally!

The speakers also emphasized the importance of “slowing down” our chakras when they become overstimulated. Some practitioners use the term “shutting down” the chakras, but as the speakers pointed out…we would actually be “dead” if that were the case!

The chakras are the energy centers in our body, each feeding a specific set of nerve bundles and major organs. There are seven major or primary chakras located along your spine, beginning at the root or base of your spine and extending to the top of your head. Each chakra is also associated with a specific color spectrum and soundwave frequency. The seven primary chakras are:

ROOT CHAKRA

Located at the base of your spine, it is associated with the color red, the sound frequency 396 Hz, the adrenal glands, kidneys, and spine, as well as our sense of survival, grounding, security and stability in the physical world. Feelings of fear, insecurity and even paranoia can result when this chakra is out of balance.

SACRAL CHAKRA

Located just below the navel, the color orange it is associated with the color orange, the sound frequency 417 Hz, the reproductive glands and organs, bladder, kidneys, gall bladder, bowel, spleen, as well as our sexuality, creativity and pleasure. Problems with sexual intimacy, lack of creativity and addictive behavior are some of the problems that can result when the sacral chakra is out of balance.

SOLAR PLEXUS CHAKRA

Located in the abdominal area, it is associated with the color yellow, the sound frequency 528 Hz, the pancreas, liver, bladder, stomach, upper spine, as well as our confidence, personal power, self-esteem, determination and sense of purpose. Insecurity and a tendency toward obsessive behavior can occur when the solar plexus chakra is out of balance.

HEART CHAKRA

Located near the heart, it is associated with the color green, the sound frequency 639 Hz, the thymus, heart and lungs, as well as our ability to love and show kindness, empathy and compassion. The inability to receive and give love unconditionally can result from an imbalanced heart chakra.

THROAT CHAKRA

Located in the throat it is associated with the color blue, the sound frequency 741 Hz, the thyroid, parathyroid glands, tonsils, vocal chords, esophagus, trachea, larynx, epiglottis, as well as our self-expression, authenticity and ability to communicate effectively and speak our truth. An inability to speak your mind and be honest with others, or a tendency toward people-pleasing and insincerity can occur when the throat chakra is out of balance.

THIRD EYE CHAKRA

Located between the eyebrows, it is associated with the color indigo, the sound frequency 852 Hz, the pineal gland, brain, nervous system, eyes, ears, as well as our intuition, inner vision, and spiritual awareness and insight. Lack of imagination, inability to trust your intuition, overthinking, anxiety, and even paranoid delusions are some of the problems that can result from an imbalanced third eye chakra.

CROWN CHAKRA

Located at the top of the head, it is associated with the color violet, the sound frequency 963 Hz, the pineal gland, brain and nervous system, as well as our higher self, enlightenment and our connection to the universe and higher consciousness. Feeling disconnected from your spiritual beliefs, apathy, cynicism, depression, and existential loneliness and isolation are all possible signs of an imbalanced crown chakra.

The chakras must remain open, clear, and balanced to promote physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual well-being. When the flow of energy in a chakra is obstructed or blocked, we may experience a variety of physical, emotional, mental or spiritual symptoms associated with that chakra. Good energy flow and perfect alignment of the chakras is therefore essential to every aspect of our health, happiness and well-being.

There are many techniques and practices for balancing the chakras. Here are some of them:

Visualized Meditation

Meditation is a powerful, classic tool for clearing and balancing the chakras. You can download or stream guided meditations that focus on each chakra, or do it the old-fashioned way by doing classic mindful meditation combined with visualization.
Begin by focusing your attention on your breath, relaxing your body, and observing your thoughts and emotions without judgment or engagement. Next, create a vivid mental image of each chakra being cleansed, balanced, and filled with the appropriate light and color.

As you focus on each chakra, hold your intention there for a few moments. You can also add affirmations to suggest that “cleansing and clearing” is taking place and that the chakra is now in perfect health.

The technique recommended by the speakers is to imagine a healing ball of divine white light entering your body through your crown chakra at the top of your head.
Visualize the crown chakra lighting changing from the white ball to a bright violet ball of light, followed by a color change for each chakra as the healing energy descends through the rest of your body, namely a bright purple ball of light, followed by a blue light, a green light, a yellow light, an orange light, and then a ball of bright red light.

Finally, place your feet on the ground and imagine the red ball of light growing roots into the ground. This will help to further ground you and stabilize the flow of energy throughout your body. To end the visualization, affirm that all of your chakras are now in balance and spinning harmoniously. Trust that the healing has spread throughout your body.

Nature Meditation

Mindful nature meditation is another form of meditation that is very beneficial for chakra balancing. It focuses on connecting with the natural world around you. This can be done by sitting or standing in a quiet place outdoors, or by listening to a nature soundscape or guided meditation indoors. Spending time mindfully in nature is a great way to connect with the earth’s energy and balance the chakras. The fresh air, sunlight and natural surroundings are very healing and balancing.

Yoga

Yoga is another ancient way to balance the chakras. Each yoga pose is designed to stimulate a specific chakra and promote balance in the body. For example, the tree pose is great for balancing the root chakra, while the cobra pose is great for balancing the heart chakra.

Breathwork

Breathing exercises, such as yoga pranayama, balance the chakras by increasing the flow of oxygen and energy throughout the body. Try alternate nostril breathing, also known as nadi shodhana pranayama, which is a yogic breathing technique that alternates between breathing through the right and left nostrils. It is a powerful technique for relaxation, stress reduction, and mental clarity.

Reiki

Reiki is a form of energy healing that can be used to balance the chakras. During a Reiki session, a practitioner places their hands on or near your body to channel energy and promote healing.

Sound Therapy

Sound therapy uses sound waves to balance the chakras. You can listen to music specifically designed to balance the chakras, or use singing bowls or tuning forks to create sound vibrations that promote healing.

Crystal Healing

Crystal healing uses crystals to balance the chakras. The energy profile of each crystal is associated with a specific chakra and can be used to promote balance and healing in that energy center. For example, amethyst is great for balancing the crown chakra, while rose quartz is great for balancing the heart chakra.

Aromatherapy

Essential oils also have vibrational energy signatures that can be used to balance the chakras. Each chakra is associated with a different type of essential oil, and diffusing or applying these oils can help promote harmony and balance.

Color Therapy

Color therapy is another popular technique for balancing the chakras. Each chakra is associated with a specific color within the spectrum, and using the frequency of that color will balance the energy of that chakra.

A fascinating new fact that I have learned about the energy vibration of colors is that there are some studies that suggest that blind people may be able to distinguish between different colors by touch alone. For example, a study conducted by Johns Hopkins University found that blind people could distinguish between two bananas of different colors by touch alone.

The color spectrum is the range of colors produced when white light is dispersed through a prism or similar device. It is a continuous band of colors arranged in order of wavelength, from violet at the shortest wavelength to red at the longest wavelength.

The seven primary colors of the visible spectrum are red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, and violet. The color spectrum is a fascinating and beautiful part of nature. It has been studied and appreciated by artists, scientists and philosophers for centuries.

The concept of chakra colors is based on the principles of Ayurveda, an ancient Indian system of medicine and philosophy. In Ayurveda, the colors of the spectrum are associated with different doshas, the three basic energies that govern the body and mind. The doshas are

Vata: Associated with the elements of air and ether and the color blue. Vata is characterized by movement, ease, and adaptability.

Pitta: Associated with the elements of fire and water and the color yellow. Pitta is characterized by warmth, energy, and digestion.

Kapha: Associated with the elements of earth and water and the color green. Kapha is characterized by stability, groundedness, and lubrication.

The chakra colors are thought to influence the balance of the doshas in the body. For example, the root chakra, which is associated with red, is believed to be associated with Vata. Red stimulates and energizes the body, which helps balance Vata’s tendency toward dryness and lightness.

The association between chakras and colors is a complex and nuanced topic, and there is no single definitive explanation for why it exists. However, the belief that colors have their own unique vibrational energies is a common theme in many cultures and traditions around the world.

Here are some ways to balance the chakras using color-based techniques:

Clothing. Wear clothes of the corresponding color. For example, wearing red clothes can help balance the root chakra, while wearing blue clothes can help balance the throat chakra..

Lights. Using colored lights in your living environment or sacred space help to balance the chakras. You can use a colored light bulb or a colored lampshade to create a soothing atmosphere in the room. For example, using a yellow light can help balance the solar plexus chakra, while using a blue light can help balance the throat chakra..

Food. Your diet and nutrition is a powerful tool for chakra balancing and improving energy in your body. It becomes even more effective if you choose foods with specific colors that correspond to the specific chakras you aim to restore to balance. For example, to balance the root chakra you can aim to incorporate more red spectrum foods in your diet, such as tomatoes, red bell peppers, strawberries, raspberries, watermelon, ruby grapefruit, red chili peppers, radishes, and so on.
