I used to live by a beach that was covered in agates. I collected them and revered them, somehow instinctively connecting to their magic at an early age. Years later I began using a large variety of agates in my healing practice.

Black or Banded Agate. This agate helps to center the first chakra. It is a great stone for combating anxiety and to ground the physical body. Use this stone for self control, physical energy, grounding, and resilience.

Orange Band Agate. This stone works with the second chakra, so it can help to heal sexual trauma. Meditation with this stone, and using it for healing, will help tap into your creativity. It can inspire that unwritten novel, help you finish a challenging painting, or help you to get back into those singing lessons! It also helps us in times of depression, loneliness, and boredom. It is a great, uplifting  emotional stimulant. Orange helps to bring physical energy, joy and vitality. Orange has the love from red and the wisdom from yellow and it is useful for stimulating blood supply and energizing the nerves. It is beneficial in the treatment of kidney and gall stones, hernia and appendicitis. It is also used to stimulate a mother’s milk production after childbirth.

Moss Agate. This one is my favorite! You can actually see the preserved moss fibers embedded in the agate itself. It comes in many different shades of green and it connects one to Nature. Translucent, transparent agate containing inclusions of minerals, that look like moss or foliage, works with the fourth chakra. It helps to diminish the ego and improves self-esteem. This stone can help you regain some emotional balance. This stone can open the fourth chakra making one more capable of unconditional love. . Allows one to see all the of the beauty in the world. This stone gives one a sense of well-being and a feeling that everything is going to be ok. Moss agate is known to transmute anger, diffusing it the longer your hold it. In healing practice it is also very helpful in overcoming a tumor.

Blue Band Agate. This agate helps to center the fifth chakra. Use it when you are needing effective communication with others. Blue agate brings with it a sense of calmness, purity, clear communication, beauty, serenity, meditation, dignity and peace. This stone can help with stress, anxiety, nerves, impatience and impulsive behavior. It’s also great for meditation.

Blue Lace Agate. This stone is similar to the Blue Band Agate in that it works with the fifth chakra. This stone helps you to find your inner source of love. When finding and tuning into self-love, you can love others more deeply. It also works with the skeletal structure and any issues with arthritis and joint pain. This tone is transformational and inspirational.

Pink Agate. This stone resonates with the heart chakra and therefore is a promoter of love. Pink agate is the blend of red and white. The energetics of pink will depend on the amount of red that is added to white. White represents the entire visible light spectrum that a human can see. It is all the colors together. It represents the Source and our spiritual connection. Red is the color for grounding, physical healing and centering. This stone will help you to forgive, release anger and calm the spirit.

Purple Agate. This is a stone of meditation and spiritual transformation. This stone works on the upper sixth Chakra and will help you to expand, trust and work with your own spiritual wisdom and intuition. Great for times when you need answers to serious questions, or when you need to make a difficult decision. Meditation with this agate will help you to keep your dignity and grace through adversity.

It is recommended for firefighters, people who smoke, chefs, and for anyone who comes in regular contact with excessive amounts of heat or smoke. Fire Agate. Most often found in North America, it is recommended for dentists, optometrists, doctors, nurses and those in the medical and other healing professions. It comes in shades of orange, brown, blue, or green. This stone has a strong connection to the energies of the Earth and an excellent stone to use before meditating, because it induces a feeling of relaxation.
