Frankie, My Furry Protector In Spirit

I often say, if there is a cat in your house, you are never alone. And this reassuring notion not only applies to cats that are in this life, but also those who have passed on to the next. Just recently, I have received another wonderful visitation from a dear furry friend of mine who passed 25 years ago!

Frankie, a beautiful Blue Point Siamese, was my fur friend and my only ‘sister.’ Growing up she was always there. I picked her out of a litter when I was only two years old. Frankie lived a long, happy life, and in her final days her meowing sounded to me like she was saying, “Maryella.” So, that is what I named my next kitty: Maryella.

So, Frankie came to me the other night and told me that she is friends with the four cats that I own now, and that she is still around after all these years. She even showed me where she hangs out these days. It is a colorful place with a bridge. I will leave it at that.

Frankie told me that she has been my spirit animal for a very long time. I was not surprised, as I have seen her from time to time over the years. She always seems to show up during times when life seems to not be going so well for me. I have certainly felt her warmth and her compassionate, loving energy around me when times are tough.

I have also dreamt of her many times, but the other night was not a visitation dream. It was a full-on apparition. I was looking out the large picture window in my living room, and there she was… walking casually across the deck outside. Then she stopped, sat down, and looked directly at me. She stared right at me.

I pointed her out to other people in the room with me, but nobody else could see her…except my cats! All four of the cats that live with me suddenly came to the window one by one, to stare back at the mysterious visitor outside.

Yes indeed, cats can sense things most humans cannot. My four cats very quietly at that window, like little buddhas, communing with the soul energy of my special spirit friend outside – the cat I grew up with and always referred to as ‘my sister.’

Frankie briefly looked at each cat, then she completed her walk across the deck…and vanished. A wonderful sense of calm instantly descended over the house. The street outside now also seemed much more quiet and peaceful.

There had been a lot of stress in my neighborhood recently, as there had been a felon living in my street, secretly harbored by a neighbor. I learned later that day that he had finally been arrested. Apparently drugs and weapons were also found in that home.

Animal messengers travel through the dimensions of time and space to be with us. We do not have any control over this process and cannot make it happen, but when the meeting does take place, we are invited to enjoy every second of it ~ Margrit Coates

I truly believe Frankie is always around, meowing, whenever shady people come near my home. And I have been hearing her meowing a lot lately, although I never actually saw her. I recognize her meow, as it sounds just like someone saying, “Maryella.” Around this time we repeatedly witnessed police activity in the area.

Cats are not only teachers and healers, but they are also protectors. In the flesh, and also in spirit. Thank you, Frankie, for being there for me time and time again. I will always love you, and I love that you are still around. You remain my sweet sister. Forever, and always.
