Learning To Trust Your Inner Truth
Have you ever noticed that whenever you’re really enjoying what you’re doing, it’s as if there’s an amazing energy flow or undercurrent carrying you along?
In these magical moments it feels as if the universe itself is moving with you, effortlessly aligning circumstances, people, and opportunities in your favor.
Don’t you wish you could live like this all the time? Imagine a life where every decision you make feels right, where your inner compass is so attuned to your truth that you rarely second-guess yourself.
Unfortunately, we too often worry about what others might think of us, or we choose the practical path – the road most traveled. We fall into the trap of following the opinions of others instead of tuning in and listening to our own inner guidance.
The fear of rejection or failure too often looms large, keeping us tethered to a path that feel safe but uninspiring. We convince ourselves that following our soul’s calling is a luxury rather than a necessity.
Following your inner truth is not selfish. Following the flow of what is true for you also doesn’t mean you’re shirking your responsibilities. It simply means that you are choosing, moment by moment, what feels right for your soul.
Society bombards us daily with standards and our families with expectations of what’s right and acceptable, yet how often do we stop and do a self-check-in? How often do we ask ourselves, “Is this really what I want?” instead of “Is this what I’m supposed to want?”

Why We Don’t Hear Our Inner Voice
There are many reasons why we don’t listen to our inner voice or follow what feels true to us. One major reason is fear of judgment. The expectations of society and the opinions of others can weigh heavily and make us question our intuition. We may fear that if we follow our inner voice, we’ll be seen as selfish, reckless, or out of touch, and this fear can drown out what our soul is trying to say.
In addition, the noise of modern life can make it difficult to tune in to our inner world. Our inner guidance is overshadowed by the chaos of the world. With the constant distractions of technology, work, and social obligations, it’s easy to neglect the quiet moments that allow us to reflect and connect with our inner being. In this whirlwind of external noise, our inner voice gets lost.
There’s also a tendency to doubt ourselves. We often question whether our inner voice is reliable or rational, especially when it contradicts conventional wisdom or leads us down an uncertain path. This self-doubt can lead us to prioritize logic, external advice, or societal norms over our own truths.
In addition, following our inner voice often requires courage and vulnerability. It may ask us to take risks, step out of our comfort zone, or make difficult choices. This can feel daunting, and as a result we sometimes choose the safer or more familiar path, even if it doesn’t align with our authentic self.
Many of our deepest fears, I believe, also come from past life events and crises. These deep-seated fears are shaping our current reality, often without our realizing it. In this lifetime, we are meant to transcend many of these core fears that unconsciously control our behavior and actions.
For example, if you experienced some form of abandonment in a past life, you may make choices in this life that benefit others more than yourself. You may be reluctant to follow what is true for you simply because you don’t want to risk losing people in your life.
The irony here is that when you choose what’s right for you, the right people tend to show up in your life and the wrong ones fall away. This may seem daunting, but when you think about it, it’s much more disturbing to live a life without true joy, a life dictated by the need to please others rather than by your soul’s longing.

Learning To Trust Your Inner Truth
Ultimately, not listening to our inner voice can leave us feeling disconnected or unfulfilled. Learning to trust and honor it takes practice, patience, and self-compassion. When we do, we open the door to a life that is in alignment with who we truly are.
When I say that we should do what “feels right” for us, there are several ways to practice this. Let’s say you have to choose between two jobs and you’re not sure which one to take. One job pays more money and seems to offer good opportunities for advancement. However, when you tap into your intuitive sense, you feel an uneasy tightening around or just below your waist, almost like a belt being pulled tighter. Your mind may be excited about this job because of the financial security it offers, but your body’s signals tell a different story.
Your body is a wise guide in this process. It communicates through sensations, emotions, and subtle energetic shifts. If something is a “yes” and you think about it, you will experience a peaceful, light feeling or a sense of happiness and joy for no apparent reason.
However, if the feeling of happiness feels more like excitement mixed with anxiety – almost like being lured by temptation – then it may not be the right choice. The distinction between true alignment and fleeting excitement is key.
Check in with your body. You can have conversations with it. Your body has its own wisdom and built-in intelligence. When your mind says yes, but your body says no, it’s time to listen closely and trust what you’re getting. The body often knows before the mind catches up!

Making Time For Self-Reflection
We all have responsibilities-caring for loved ones, working long hours, continuing our education, and fulfilling social obligations. But no matter how demanding your schedule may be, it is important to take time for yourself.
Prioritizing spiritual self-care doesn’t require drastic changes to your daily routine; small and intentional steps can make a significant difference. Here are some practical ways to carve out “me time” in your busy schedule:
Wake up a little earlier: Starting your day just 15 to 30 minutes earlier offers a peaceful window for activities you enjoy—whether it’s reading, meditating, or simply savoring your coffee in quiet reflection. Alternatively, streamlining your daily routines can help create more personal time. And if it feels like there’s no extra time in your day, consider how much of it might be lost to mindless scrolling on social media.
Unplug from technology: Dedicate moments to disconnect from digital distractions. This can help you stay present and create mental space for relaxation or creative pursuits.
Learn to say no: It’s okay to decline commitments that don’t align with your priorities. Setting boundaries can help you avoid overextending yourself and free up time for the things that truly matter, including your own well-being.
Plan and prioritize: Use a calendar or planner to block out time specifically for yourself. Treat this time as an essential appointment you cannot miss. By scheduling it, you’re more likely to follow through.
Combine activities: Look for opportunities to pair self-care with other tasks. For example, you could listen to an inspiring podcast while commuting or practice mindfulness during a walk.
Delegate tasks: Share responsibilities with others at home or work. Delegation not only lightens your load but also allows you to focus on activities that bring you joy.
Moments of mindful contemplation and self-reflection allow you to reconnect with your inner wisdom. Life will never be without its imperfections, but the more you align with what truly resonates with your soul, the more you cultivate a flow that opens spiritual doors. These shifts first appear subtly-through intuition, insight, and energy-before they manifest in tangible reality.
This flow is the current of your soul’s highest alignment. It is a divine rhythm that moves through you and guides you to your true path. Following it does not mean a life without challenges, but it does mean that you will navigate those challenges with greater ease and clarity. As you embrace your inner guidance, you will notice synchronicities unfolding – being in the right place at the right time, meeting people who uplift and inspire you, and experiencing an underlying sense of ease even in difficult moments.
Imagine standing on the shore and watching the waves ebb and flow. If you resist the tide and fight against the natural rhythm of the water, you exhaust yourself. But if you surrender and go with the flow, you discover that the ocean itself supports you. Life is much the same. Resisting what your soul knows to be true creates struggle, while surrendering to your inner wisdom allows you to move forward effortlessly.
Perhaps the greatest lesson in all of this is trust. Trust in yourself. Trust that the universe is conspiring in your favor. Trust that when you make choices that align with your deepest truth, the path will unfold before you in ways that you could never have orchestrated on your own. The more you practice tuning in and following what feels right, the stronger this trust will become.

Practices For Inner Clarity & Alignment
So, how can you begin to implement this in your daily life? Start small. Take moments throughout the day to pause and check in with yourself. Before making a decision, take a deep breath and notice how your body responds. If something feels light and expansive, it is likely in alignment with your highest good. If something feels constricting or heavy, reconsider.
Spend time in nature. The natural world is a reflection of divine flow. Observe how the trees grow effortlessly, how the rivers make their way without resistance. Nature does not force; it simply follows its own wisdom. You also have this wisdom within you.
Meditation and journaling are powerful tools as well. Ask yourself, “What is true for me in this moment?” and allow the answer to come naturally. In time, this practice will become second nature.
Ultimately, the more you align with your truth, the more vibrant and fulfilling your life will become. You were never meant to live in a state of constant compromise. Your soul came here to experience joy, expansion and deep connection.
Your ancestors, guides and the angels support you as you step into your authentic self. Spirit and the divine protect you as you navigate this journey. And the universe provides for you as you trust and move with your divine purpose and inner truth.
When you honor what is true for you, you open the door to a life of infinite possibilities, where every moment is filled with meaning, purpose and grace. So, trust yourself, follow the flow, and allow your soul to lead the way.
