Energy Protection 101

Over time, it has become more than just a personal practice, as it is an integral part of my daily professional life as a psychic. It is also a spiritual necessity that I often emphasize with my clients.

In a world where we’re constantly interacting with different energies, maintaining our auric boundaries is essential.

Many of my clients, like me, find themselves drained by encounters with certain people, and I love sharing my tools and techniques to help them stay energetically protected. This is especially important when they are forced to share space or interact with those they would prefer to avoid.

We all experience times when we can’t avoid being around people who don’t have our best interests at heart. From personal experience and the stories my clients tell me, I’ve found that these challenging relationships most often occur in close-knit groups, such as family or neighbors – people with whom we must coexist despite underlying tensions.

But why does this happen? Based on my observations, it often comes down to control issues or unresolved emotional issues.

For example, family dynamics can bring out hidden tensions. Siblings may become resentful if they feel one isn’t doing enough to help an aging parent. It’s easy to assume someone isn’t pulling their weight without looking at the bigger picture.

Maybe the criticized sibling has health issues of their own, or they’re juggling family responsibilities, a career, or personal commitments. The resentment festers because no one is discussing these things openly, and it creates an emotional drain for everyone involved.

This dynamic is particularly damaging when it involves parents who feel entitled to the care of their adult children. Many of the parents in these situations exhibit narcissistic tendencies – they don’t recognize that their children are now adults with their own lives, responsibilities, and boundaries. Instead, they manipulate conversations and often pit siblings against each other to get what they want. This creates a toxic cycle that can lead to resentment, guilt, and emotional exhaustion for everyone involved.

It’s not just family relationships that can leave us feeling drained. Neighbors can also be a source of energy depletion. Some of the most difficult neighborly interactions I’ve encountered stem from jealousy or insecurity.

When someone feels inadequate or dissatisfied with their life, they may try to bring others down, causing unnecessary friction. These negative interactions often feel unavoidable because we live in such close proximity, but they can have a serious impact on our emotional well-being.

Over the years, I’ve cultivated a basic toolkit for staying energetically protected, even in situations where interactions with toxic people are unavoidable. These are some of my personal strategies for keeping my energy field shielded and intact:

The Phone Trick

When you know you’re about to encounter someone who is draining you, use your cell phone as an energetic shield. Hold it up to your ear as if you’re waiting for someone to answer or already engaged in conversation.

Most people won’t engage with someone who seems preoccupied. This simple trick allows you to create a physical and emotional wall between you and someone you’d rather avoid. It’s subtle but effective.

Tourmaline & Tiger’s Eye

Crystals are a great way to protect your energy. I always carry either black tourmaline or tiger’s eye.

Black Tourmaline is known for its ability to absorb negative energy, helping you stay calm and grounded in tense situations. It acts as a shield, ensuring that the negativity around you doesn’t penetrate your energetic field.

Tiger’s Eye, on the other hand, enhances clarity and courage, while also helping you to feel less conspicuous to those who might drain your energy. It’s like becoming energetically invisible to negativity.

Visualization

Visualization is one of the most powerful tools for energy protection. Before interacting with someone you know to be energetically draining, visualize a circle of protection around you. You can get creative with this-imagine yourself surrounded by a sphere of light or a rotating shield.

I like to visualize a golden outline around the protective shape because gold is known for its high vibrational energy. This visualization acts as a barrier between you and anyone who might try to interfere with your energy.

Affirmations

Affirmations are another simple yet powerful tool to keep your energy intact. You can easily find protective affirmations online, or better yet, create your own. For example, saying “I am divinely protected; no energy can harm me” throughout the day serves as a reminder of your boundaries and energetic sovereignty.

Repeating such affirmations strengthens your mental and emotional defenses, making you more resilient in the face of toxic interactions.

Empowering Sleep

Perhaps the most underrated energy protection tool is proper sleep. Sleep restores your physical and energetic body, making you more resilient to external influences. Prioritizing rest strengthens your energetic field, making it harder for others to drain your energy reserves.

When you’re well rested, it’s easier to avoid being emotionally triggered by draining people. You’ll also have more mental clarity to set boundaries and say no to invitations, offers, or situations that feel energetically off or unsafe.

It’s important to recognize that energy protection is not just a spiritual practice – it’s a form of self-care. Just as you might take a shower to cleanse your physical body, energy protection cleanses and strengthens your energetic body. Without it, we can become overwhelmed, exhausted, or even sick from the negative energies of others.

If we don’t take conscious steps to protect ourselves, we risk absorbing the stress, anger, jealousy, and negativity of those around us. Whether it’s an overbearing parent, a critical sibling, or a neighbor who seems bent on causing trouble, these interactions can take a toll on our emotional and physical health. Practicing energy protection on a daily basis ensures that we remain in control of our well-being, no matter who or what we encounter.

By incorporating simple yet powerful tools such as visualization, crystals, affirmations, and proper sleep, we can stay grounded and energetically sovereign. It’s about recognizing our own value and choosing not to let anyone drain or diminish our energy. Protecting our energy is not selfish – it’s a necessary act of self-love and self-preservation.
