Introduction To The Chakras

click here for a free reading at PsychicAccess.comThe chakras are energy vortexes or wheels of energy located throughout the body. They inter-penetrate our subtle energy body and weave together with the layers of our auric field. The word chakra originates from ancient Sanskrit and it basically means ‘spinning wheel.’

There are seven main chakras and each are associated with one of the spectrum colors. Each chakra color is a natural etheric light that shine from within us, and I like to think of them as the colors of the rainbow. Each chakra regulates certain organs in the body, and also governs certain areas of our life.

Just like everything else that needs cleansing, like our houses and cars, our chakras also need clearing and purification, so they can spin and shine at optimal frequencies.

One way to help keep your chakras clear and balanced is by listening to guided meditations specifically designed for the chakra clearing and healing. These types of meditations can help get those ‘wheels’ spinning again, so to speak. It helps to restore energy balance and flow, and reintegrates the body, mind, and spirit.

Root Chakra

Located at the base of the spine at the perineum area, the first chakra is associated with a cherry red color. It governs the colon, bladder, lower back, legs, and feet, and is the chakra that when balanced, makes us feel safe and protected.

The condition of our root chakra dictates how we allow and accept money and wealth into our life, as well as our overall, general health, and staying grounded. The Sanskrit name for this chakra is Muladhara and the seed sound is LAM (lahm).

Sacral Chakra

Located just below the navel, the second chakra is associated with a tangerine orange color. It governs all of the reproductive and lower abdominal organs, such as the intestines, bladder, kidneys, and all the reproductive organs.

When the sacral chakra is balanced, we are tapped into our creativity and our sensuality. This chakra allows us to express our sexuality and to be comfortable in our own skin and with our authentic self. The Sanskrit name for this chakra is Swadhistana and the seed sound is VAM (vahm).

Solar Plexus Chakra

Located in the abdominal area, the third chakra is associated with a sunshine yellow color. It governs the organs in the solar plexus region and works with our digestive system organs, including the stomach, liver, gallbladder, and pancreas. This is our power center and where we learn to assert our self. When balanced, there is a natural confidence that arises without being pushy or overbearing. The Sanskrit name for this chakra is Manipura and the seed sound is RAM (rahm).

Heart Chakra

Located at the center of the chest, the fourth chakra is at the center of all seven chakras. There are two different colors for this chakra. Whichever one you see or that resonates with you, go with it! Some people experience it as an emerald green color here, while for others it is pinkish, rose quartz color. Either one is fine and both extremely healing.

The heart chakra governs the heart, chest, lungs, and upper respiratory system. When balanced we feel a strong sense of universal love and compassion for all of life. The heart chakra is one that even Kundalini yoga teachers work to master throughout their life. It is by far, one of the most significant chakras to keep in check, as it is the center of our being. The Sanskrit name for this chakra is Anahata and the seed sound is YAM (yahm).

Throat Chakra

Located in the throat area, the fifth chakra is associated with an icy, light blue color. The throat chakra governs the thyroid gland, all of the muscles in the neck and throat region.

When balanced, we are comfortable speaking our truth. This is also where psychic listening and receiving happens. In Egyptian traditions, this was considered the ‘holy temple,’ where we needed to clear and find stillness. If you notice, when your tongue is still and you simply listen, you can hear the silence and become more clairaudient, meaning your psychic hearing is amplified here. The Sanskrit name for this chakra is Vishudhi and the seed sound is HAM (hahm).

Third Eye Chakra

Located in the center of the forehead, between the brows, the  sixth chakra is associated with an indigo purple-blue color. The third eye chakra governs both our physical vision and psychic seeing, as well as our pituitary gland. When balanced, we can see the world through clearer eyes, and we become more clairvoyant.

This chakra varies in degrees of psychic strength in that some people are just naturally more clairvoyant than others. However, we all have our personal psychic strengths and ways of envisioning things and spirit will help you develop this chakra and your gifts of vision through your unique purpose on earth.

In addition, when our third eye chakra is spinning and clear, we can sometimes see other peoples auras that surround their physical bodies, and we have vivid dreams too. The Sanskrit name for this chakra is Ajna and the seed sound is AUM (Ohm).

The chakras are specialized energy centers which connect us to the multidimensional universe. The chakras are dimensional portals within the subtle bodies which take in and process energy of higher vibrational nature so that it may be properly assimilated and used to transform the physical body ~ Richard Gerber

Crown Chakra

Located at the crown of the head, the seventh chakra is associated with ultra violet or white color. It is said there is a thousand petaled lotus at the top of the crown chakra and that when we reach full enlightenment, or self-realization, all thousand petals of this lotus open and we become fully integrated with this world and the world of spirit, as we transcend or ascend our consciousness.

The crown chakra governs our brain and thoughts, thus relating this chakra to depression. This is the energy center that connects us with the Divine, with the All and the Divine. When balanced, the crown chakra allows us to communicate with spirit, as well as download brilliant ideas and positive thinking.

When we feel depressed, this is the first chakra to check to see how the area just above the crown of your head is doing. Does it feel heavy or blocked? Then it’s time to clear out this area with some swirling, heavenly, white light. You will feel the difference after doing this and your mood will shift to a more positive one.

The Sanskrit name for this chakra is Sahaswara Padma and many think there is no sound for this chakra, but I will share with you a secret from some yogis in India who say it is, AGUN SACHAM OHHH (ah-goon-sash-ahm-ohhhh).

The best time to clear your chakras is in the morning, when you first wake up. You can chant the seed sounds to all seven chakras for better health and clarity. You will feel the difference and your chakras will thank you. Clearer chakras will reverberate out from your auric field too, making you appear more luminescent. You may be surprised how much more alive you feel and your friends may ask you what is your secret!
