How To Support The Awakening Psychic

Guiding and supporting someone through their psychic awakening and development process can be quite a challenge, as the way different people receive their messages from spirit can be unusual and unexpected, even to the awakening psychic themselves.

Over the years, I’ve learned that psychic ability is highly individual and different for each person, and that everyone’s path of development is unique.

This uniqueness stems from the fact that psychic abilities are gifts or talents that are mostly beyond our everyday understanding. Most experienced psychics will tell you that they do not really know how or why they are able to know, feel or sense things – somehow we just do.

Every psychic journey is therefore deeply personal. Often we start out receiving messages in a certain way, only to have other ways emerge as we grow and evolve. How and what we perceive is always unpredictable, and some abilities may strengthen while others fade over time.

For example, I started out with a lot of clairsentient “sensing and feeling,” which was soon accompanied by claircognitive “knowing”. Then one day I suddenly noticed that I was beginning to also “see” more and more clairvoyantly with my mind’s eye.

Helping someone on their psychic journey can be challenging, but it is also a profound and rewarding journey. It takes patience, understanding, and a deep commitment to help nurture their growth, but it is very, very gratifying to empower and help others to step into their full potential as lightworkers, wayshowers, channels, and healers.

When supporting someone’s psychic awakening, it is crucial to understand and honor their unique path. Psychic abilities manifest in different ways – through clairvoyance, clairaudience, clairsentience, claircognizance, and more. Each person has their own blend of these abilities, shaped by their experiences, beliefs, personality, and willingness to accept and embrace their innate gifts.

Cultivating Trust

Helping someone embrace their psychic gifts can be especially challenging if they are fearful. Fear of the unknown is a common obstacle. For example, one woman I worked with was initially very afraid of the unknown and wondered if “dabbling in psychic stuff” would hurt her.

As an empathic life coach, she already had a valuable background in dealing with clients’ moods, fears, and diverse personalities. But when it came to the mystical and unseen she hesitated. Despite her fears, I encouraged her to embrace her true path.

“This is what you are meant to do on this earth. Spirit is encouraging you to get on board,” I said.

This encouragement helped her overcome her fears, and after six months of initial resistance, she finally realized that most of her fears were unfounded and all in her mind. Once she accepted the message that she was a Lightworker meant to serve as a psychic and healer, she began to pay attention, learn and do her own research. She began to practice, and soon she was fully engaged in her psychic work.

Taking baby steps was crucial for her because the key lesson for us as psychics is trust. It all comes down to trusting ourselves, trusting what we are given, and trusting that the messages we hear, see, or receive in whatever form are accurate and meant for the client. Once the hurdle of trust is overcome, everything else falls into place.

Trust is the cornerstone of psychic development. As mentors, we need to help individuals build this trust in their own abilities. This includes encouraging them to trust their intuition, the messages they receive, and the guidance of their psychic team. It’s important to create a safe and supportive environment where they feel comfortable exploring and expressing their gifts.

Regular Practice

Psychic abilities, like any other skill, require practice and refinement. Awakening psychics need to practice regularly, especially by reading for friends and family or participating in a development circle. Constant practice not only hones the awakening psychic’s abilities, but also helps to build confidence. As they practice, they’ll notice patterns and gain a deeper understanding of how their unique gifts work.

Continuous Learning

The journey of psychic development is a continuous one. There is always more to learn and explore. The developing psychic should continue to seek deeper knowledge through books, workshops, and interactions with other psychics. The more they learn, the more they can expand their abilities and deepen their wisdom and understanding.

Client Relationships

Guiding someone in their psychic development also involves teaching them how to navigate client relationships. Reading for others is an important responsibility. Psychics must learn to deliver messages with compassion, clarity and integrity. It’s important to remind them that they are messengers, not fixers. Their role is to provide guidance and insight, not to dictate actions or outcomes.

Not everyone will welcome psychic messages with open arms. Some clients may be skeptical or even critical. It’s important to prepare aspiring psychics for this reality. Teach them to stay grounded and centered regardless of the client’s reaction. Remind them that their role is to share what they receive, not to convince others of its validity.

Self-Care & Boundaries

Psychic work can be energetically draining. Encourage individuals to practice self-care and set boundaries to protect their energy. This can include regular grounding and cleansing practices, taking breaks when needed, and not overworking themselves. Self-care ensures that they can continue their work without burnout.

I believe we are guided to do this work for one primary reason: to help individuals find the answers they seek. Once they receive these answers, they can look at their situation and decide how to proceed. We are messengers from beyond. It’s important to note that sometimes people don’t like the answers they receive and may get upset with us. However, they should examine their situation closely and learn from it rather than place blame.

Psychic readings are not always quick fixes; they are a process of free will choice, personal learning and spiritual growth. Clients may come seeking immediate, easy solutions, but the true value of a reading lies in the long-term insights and guidance provided. These insights take time and reflection to fully integrate.

Psychic work is a sacred calling, and with the right support, individuals can navigate their unique path with confidence and grace, bringing light and insight to those they serve.
