Love Your Neighbor As Yourself

I read an article recently that brought my attention to the hurricanes, tornadoes, floods, tsunamis, and earthquakes happening on our earth, which said this was all prophecy and that it is God’s way of cleansing certain parts of our world. The article quoted scripture, from the book of Job, however it was used to the benefit of the author.

Why would one area be cleansed over another? I pondered this for quite a while, especially after seeing recent reports on extreme natural events in the Caribbean Islands, Florida, Texas, Mexico and Japan. Why just those areas? Why not the entire earth’s population? Surely, none of us are without fault? Every community has a dark side, every nation a history of wrong-doing.

The more I thought about this, the more I realized, this is simply weather! Yes, it is cleansing in a way. Where trees were ripped up, new saplings will appear and plants will grow again. Freshness will come to the air and people will witness kindness and goodwill in others, in the wake of all this destruction.

The mainstream news media is rife with violence, hatred, racism and negativity, however see what often happens in a crisis situation – people come out to rescue, to help, to rebuild. Many countries send prayers and those that can, send aid. I am in Canada and we have sent aid by way of our building centers, hydro trucks and electricians – people like you and me who just want to help. Financial aid has been sent, medical supplies, and so on. It was not our country that had this issue, however we gathered together to send help.

I see the fighting, the name-calling, the horrible racism and the bigotry on the news, and then I see men of diverse races and nationalities carrying people to safety – saving lives while risking their own. They are courageously going into the storm, so to speak, with only the belief that they can make a difference, while putting their own lives at risk. These are not professional firefighters and rescuers; these are ordinary, everyday people that see the goodness in others and know that they are obliged to at least try to make a difference.

I write this because many adversity and challenges come towards each one of us on a daily basis, and it is hard to move forward at times not knowing what the outcome will be. At times we feel buried with no way out. However, remember this, there is always a way out of a dark hole. There is always a way out of a dark place inside your soul. Whether a major natural disaster, or simply a relationship break-up or the loss of a loved one, the pain and suffering is real for all of us.

Take time to love yourself each and every day. Take time to treat yourself kindly, as well as at least one other person, as if they are the most important person in the world, and then take note of how your world starts to change. It will not be as difficult as it may seem. The dark times will begin to see the light of your being spreading outwards and surrounding you.

This is how your angels are with you. No matter how dark your life or thoughts may be, they love you. They are there to hold you up and support you, and they only want to see success from you on all levels. Believe you deserve that, and let your love shine to the world.

Yes, we can all send prayers, healing and love to others, however it is time to start with yourself. You deserve to be loved by you and then send it out to the rest of the world. You matter. You will make a difference. We as a group on this planet will make a difference.
