A Black Bird Visits My In-Laws
A black bird is believed to be a good omen by some, while others see it as a sign of misfortune. My experience with a black bird sign proved to be both.
I was over at my in-laws’ house one day when we noticed this black bird trying to get into the room. I thought the bird might be injured the way it was acting. It kept hitting the window hard, trying to fly inside. I felt this must be some sort of omen, but decided not to share this notion with my in-laws.
At that moment I got a call on my phone from my ex-wife. Our son had fallen off his scooter and broke his arm. After the call, the black bird was still doing his thing, but eventually gave up and flew away. I thought then that this must be the news the black bird was bringing.
The reason birds can fly and we can’t is simply that they have perfect faith, for to have faith is to have wings ~ J M Barrie
They later told me that the next day, around the same time, the black bird came back to their house and was once again hitting the window to get back into the room. My in-laws are not the kind of people who believe in the supernatural or paranormal signs. But this bird changed their minds.
When I met my in-laws, while I was still dating their daughter, I knew there had to be a point I would have to tell her patents I do psychic readings. I faced the same challenge when I met her. I initially did not open up to my future wife to tell her that I did psychic readings. I kept it in the closet, so to speak.
What I did not realize at the time was that, before I met her, she went to a psychic who happened to live three miles from where I live. The reader told my wife the guy she was going to meet went to a certain school and that one of his relatives worked with her, and also that one of her best friends lived in the same place as this man. All if this turned out to be accurate and it all referred to me.
When my wife found out where I lived and went to school, she told me that she went to a psychic, and that everything she was told appears to have come to pass. She knew then I was the man the psychic predicted would come into her life. This gave me the opportunity and confidence to open up to her and tell her the truth about me. She was very accepting and understanding, but also said that when I meet her parents it may be best not to tell them that I do psychic readings.
I know noble accents and lucid, inescapable rhythms; but I know, too, that the blackbird is involved in what I know ~ Wallace Stevens
But when my future father in-law ask me what I did for a living, I could not lie. I told him about my regular job, but that I also do psychic readings for a living. The look on his face was a sight to see! He made it clear to me that he didn’t believe in psychics. Years later the black bird’s visit changed this forever.
The second day the black bird hit the window we got a call late that night to let us know that my father-in-law was in the emergency room. Two weeks prior my father-in-law had a surgical procedure done and he had developed a very bad infection.
We met them at the hospital and as my father-in-law came out he asked me if that black bird was there for a reason. I said yes and he asked me why I didn’t say anything sooner. I said, “because of the way you acted long ago when you found out I did psychic readings”. My wife then told him that I had a feeling that something bad was going to happen after seeing the bird and that I didn’t want to worry him.
My father-in-law is now more of a believer.
