The Blind Lady Who Looked At Pictures
An old friend of mine, who I have not heard from in a long time, called me recently and left a message on my voice mail to call him back. When I checked my messages I was surprised to hear from him after so many years.
I asked him how he got my number, since I have not talked to him for so long. Apparently he ran into my brother John at the gas station and asked him for my number. We made some small talk at first, and then told me he had some sad news – Sharon had passed away.
Sharon is my cousin and I was very shocked to hear this! But he quickly realized his mistake and pointed out that it was in fact not my cousin; he was referring to Sharon “the blind lady with the pictures”. Oh man, I have not seen her since my childhood, I exclaimed.
It is more or less a given that nothing is less favorable to clairvoyance than the bright sun: physical light and mental light coexist on very poor terms ~ André Breton
He ask me to go to the funeral with him, and since we live far apart he asked me to meet me at my brother’s house. When we went to the funeral home I was surprised to see that so many people showed up. She must have touched so many people and hearts in her lifetime to have such a turnout.
Her daughter went up and talked about the joy of life her mother had with so many lives in the years she had on this Earth, and how she was also impacted as her daughter. Behind her daughter was a television screen and they were projecting a video compilation of photos, like a movie of her life. About five minutes into the video an old snapshot came up of a group of kids. One kid had this ugly stripe shirt on and was holding a picture of a fireman. It was in black and white. I immediately realized that it was a picture of me and some of my childhood friends!
For a moment I was struck like a deer in the headlights. Then I had a flash back going back in time. I can remember us kids wanting to take our own pictures and see what she could tell us about our pictures. My friend Jeff took a picture of himself with his dog Baron that day. I look at Jeff sitting next to me at the funeral. Did you see us with the other kids in those old pictures, I asked. He nodded.
As I have said often, evidence of clairvoyance, telepathy, or whatever, are not eccentric, isolated instances occurring in man’s experience, but are representative of natural patterns of everyday behavior that become invisible in your world because of the official picture of behavior and reality ~ Jane Roberts
You see, Sharon was a fascinating lady. Although she was blind, she has the ability to touch a photograph and tell you things about the people in it. Sharon had the gift of ‘second sight‘. I remember, when I gave her that picture of myself with my dad, I was thinking at the time there would be no way she could know my dad was a fireman. But she took the picture and ask me to hold her left hand, and with her right hand she slowly brushed her fingers over the black and white image for a couple of seconds. Even though she was blind, she look straight at me and said, you’re afraid of your father being a fireman, are you not? I said yes, I am. She then said, don’t worry, your fears and bad dreams about your dad being hurt by a bad fire will never come true, because he is being protected by Angels from Heaven.
I was over the moon with joy! I ran home and told my mother, because I knew she was having nightmares about my dad being injured in some fire. After the blind lady’s prophetic words my childhood nightmares stopped. It did change my life to feel a sense of certainty that my dad would be okay when he had to go to work. He would be safe when the bell rang for him to get into the fire truck to put out yet another fire.
We do have Angels in our lives. It can be the person we work with, or the old man from next door who walks his dog, or someone that simply gives us that smile that changes our day. Or it could be the blind lady down the street who ‘looks’ at photographs.
