My Amazing First Experience With Psychometry

Get a free psychic reading right now at PsychicAccess.comSeveral years ago, during a psychic awareness workshop at the Arthur Findlay College of Psychic Research in the UK, I had a profound experience with ribbon psychometry.

Exercises with psychometry are often done in groups of two, in which the participants exchange small personal items. Psychometry is the art of reading the energy imprints on objects. The objects can vary: photographs, jewelry or even a key-ring. These and other tokens must have meaning to, and has been handled primarily by their owner. The main objective is that the item carries the vibration of its owner.

Our class of ten was made up of men and women from all over the world, as well as a few from Britain. We were all new to the concept of reading with ribbons.

Sometimes, reaching out and taking someone’s hand is the beginning of a journey. At other times, it is allowing another to take yours ~ Vera Nazarian

Our mentor had placed a large bundle of ribbons in a bowl in the center of the lecture room and we each chose a ribbon which we rubbed and held for about ten minutes, whilst she talked to us about psychometry as a psychic tool. She then gave us the name of the fellow student she had selected for each of us to partner with for the session.

The week’s workshop had only just kicked off, and I had not as yet spoken to my chosen classmate, so I did not have a clue about his life story. I vaguely guessed he had a Welsh accent.

After a brief relaxation exercise, to help us focus and de-clutter our minds, we got started. My class partner asked me to go first. I must say I felt rather daft, but thought going first was a good way to get the challenge over with!

I blurted out: “You have a short-wheel base Land Rover and your daughter is a healer”. His jaw dropped and I could feel my face glowing red with embarrassment. I still recall the feeling that I must have made a total idiot of myself.

I was still red faced when he responded: “I have an old short- wheel base Land Rover, which is parked to the back of the building, and my daughter is studying to be a reflexologist and a Reiki practitioner”.

I am still in awe of what those ribbons revealed to us that day. I know the preparation and the wonderful mentoring of our teacher inspired us to be acutely aware of any sensations, feelings and impressions that came into our awareness – but that, for a first attempt, was quite special!

You cannot help but learn more as you take the world into your hands.  Take it up reverently, for it is an old piece of clay, with millions of thumbprints on it. ~ John Updike

I have since, over the years, used the practice of psychometry frequently in my private practice and it’s been a great tool in helping me to connect to a deceased loved one for a client who may have brought with them a photograph or personal belonging of the deceased. It also helps me to pick up on feelings, past and present, and even the past life (or even lives) of the customer themselves.

The oddest of things picked up can mean a lot to a customer. Often when a psychic gives confirmation of something out of the ordinary which has occurred, it convinces the customer that we are connecting on a deeper level. This can be something quirky, or a habit of the deceased, and such information can bring great comfort, particularly when it’s connected to a beloved person or pet that has passed.

All living things give off energy, and leave what can be called an ‘energy signature’ or imprint. We are simply picking up traces of emotions, thoughts and experiences from energy signatures.

Psychometry is fun to try with a friend. It does not matter what the token is made of, but if it is of sentimental value and some history to the owner, then that works best. Sit down with a partner, close your eyes, breathe deeply, clearing your mind of clutter and allow whatever impressions to come through. Don’t be afraid to share and ask questions – practice makes perfect.
