Are you living the same scenario over and over with a different cast of characters? Or maybe even the same cast, but going through the same problems over and over with no change? If any of this sounds familiar, you may need to revise your origin story.

We all have an origin story. It is a set of deeply held ideas and beliefs that shapes how we see ourselves and our place in the world. It is the story of that we constantly repeat when we talk about ourselves or think about our life experiences. Internally, we use it to define ourselves, and externally, we use it to present ourselves to others.

Our story of origin comes from family, early life experiences, and the choices we made about ourselves as we grew up. While it helps define us, it can also become a prison, limiting our growth and repeating unsatisfying patterns in what we manifest.

In my work as a psychic consultant, I often find in readings that many people are held back by their origin story without even realizing it. When we hold on too tightly to our chosen narrative, we become trapped in cycles that prevent us from evolving into the version of ourselves we truly want and deserve to be.

An origin story differs from a limiting belief in that it is more about the construction of our identity and personality – who we are and how we want to be in the world. It can be more difficult to identify and deconstruct because it is such a strong part of our personal identity. However, it is similar to limiting beliefs in that it is important to explore and become aware of it because it can hold us back and create very unsatisfying life experiences.

There are times in our lives when we have to realize our past is precisely what it is, and we cannot change it. But we can change the story we tell ourselves about it, and by doing that, we can change the future ~ Eleanor Brow

Identifying Your Origin Story

Before you can improvey our origin story, by adopting a new, more uplifting and positive perspective, you must first identify the core narrative and components your origin story.

Start by thinking about the stories you often tell yourself and others about yourself and your life. Also, become more self-aware when you introduce yourself to others. What stories come up again and again? What details do you typically share first? How do you define yourself to a new person? What are your favorite anecdotes, opinions, and jokes that you often share in social situations?

Pay attention to the attitudes, mindsets, and beliefs you express about yourself, your abilities, and your challenges and limitations. For example, you may often find yourself saying, “I have never been good with money,” or “I’m just very bad with relationships,” or “I’ve always struggled with my health.”

These types of statements are usually very powerful clues to the core aspects of your origin story, which typically originates from your family’s attitudes toward success, love, and self-worth, as well as your early experiences in school, social groups, and religious settings.

Think back to your childhood. Which of your negative or limiting self-beliefs did you absorb from your family? How were emotions, failure, or success handled in your home? Were you encouraged to follow your dreams or were certain paths considered impractical? Did you feel supported or did you often have to prove yourself? These early influences form the core of our origin story and often manifest as patterns that we unconsciously repeat throughout our lives.

In addition, consider the choices you made about yourself in response to these early influences. For example, if you experienced criticism or neglect as a child, you may have decided that you weren’t worthy of love, leading to a pattern of unfulfilling relationships. Or if you were taught that financial success could only be achieved through struggle, you may find yourself stuck in a cycle of financial instability.

In this universe, and this existence, where we live with this duality of whether we exist or not and who are we, the stories we tell ourselves are the stories that define the potentialities of our existence. We are the stories we tell ourselves ~ Shekhar Kapur

Transmuting Your Origin Story

Once you’ve identified the elements and sources of your origin story, the next step is to transmute it. You must transmute or change these limiting aspects into something more positive and empowering.

Transmutation is a deep spiritual process of transformation that not only changes a belief, but completely shifts its energy and impact. It involves taking the limiting, negative, or outdated parts of your origin story and revising them into sources of strength, wisdom, or freedom. Rather than simply rejecting your old story, you reframe it, finding new meaning and turning past challenges into opportunities for growth.

For example, if your origin story is shaped by feelings of inadequacy due to past failures, transforming it might involve reframing those failures as lessons that have made you more resilient and capable. The process involves recognizing the old narrative’s influence on your life and intentionally transforming it into something that supports your goals, growth, and well-being.

This transmutation process involves recognizing that the story you’ve been living is not set in stone. You have the power to revise your story and create new outcomes.

Begin by challenging the beliefs that no longer serve you. Ask yourself, “Is this really true?” or “Where did this belief come from?” By questioning these narratives, you begin to loosen their hold on you. For example, if you have always believed that success requires struggle, ask yourself if there is any evidence that success comes easily to others-and why it couldn’t come easily to you.

Visualization and affirmation can be powerful tools for changing your story. Visualize yourself living a life consistent with the new beliefs you want to adopt. Affirmations such as “I am worthy of love and abundance” help to rewire your subconscious mind and replace old patterns with new, empowering ones.

It is also essential to identify our soul purpose and calling in life, as this process shifts our focus from past limitations to future possibilities. By connecting with our soul plan and karmic desires, we can redefine our life story and align it with what truly resonates with our authentic selves.

In doing so, we begin to see how our early life experiences, even the most challenging and traumatic, have equipped us to fulfill our soul’s mission. When we embrace our purpose, we transform the beliefs that once held us back into a narrative of empowerment, resilience and growth, enabling us to confidently step into our potential and create a life of service that reflects our true essence.

If you don’t have a clear sense of what your soul purpose may be, adopt some spiritual practices that can help you identify your soul plan and mission, such as regular meditation, dreamwork, prayer, divination, journaling, and psychic readings. Working with a reputable psychic will provide clarity about your strengths, challenges, and potential paths. In particular, mediumship, akashic, and past life readings can illuminate aspects of your life path and soul plan that you may not yet be consciously aware of.

In addition, surround yourself with people and environments that reinforce the new story you want to create. Seek out communities that support your growth and distance yourself from influences that keep you tied to the old narrative. Positive reinforcement from others can help solidify your new beliefs and give you the confidence to live in alignment with them.

Transmuting your origin story is an ongoing process, but it begins with self-awareness. By identifying the limiting beliefs from your past and choosing to rewrite them, you can create a new, empowering narrative that allows for greater freedom, success and fulfillment. This shift in perception can transform not only how you see yourself, but also how you engage with the world, breaking cycles of stagnation and opening the door to new possibilities.

You have your lifestory. It’s the story you tell yourself about yourself. It’s as true as any other. If you tell yourself a story over and over again, no matter how improbable it may sound when you begin, in time the story will manifest itself ~ Harold R. Johnson

The Origin Story Of Indigo

To illustrate in a simple way how invisible and pervasive origin stories can be, consider the example of my cat, Indigo. He recently had a medical emergency that required an urgent trip to the vet and then hospitalization. When another pet owner asked about him in the waiting area, I went straight to the story of how he had been a sickly foster kitten that the rescue had given up on.

Indigo was so shy and wild as a kitten that he was deemed unadoptable because no one would want him. The rescue staff secretly hoped to get him adopted quickly, while he was still tiny and cute, so that people would overlook his shy and almost feral nature.

As I was telling this story that I had told so many times about him, spirit suddenly nudged me and made me aware of what I was doing. I realized that while what the rescue workers had said about him was true at the time, it was no longer valid or important. My guides made me aware that his origin story needed to be updated and that it was critical to do so because holding on to that negative, skeptical beginning was now affecting both his health and well-being as well as my own.

In order to revise his origin story, I had to question it to see if there was a better way to define Indigo that was more supportive and accurate to who he really is. Sure, he had a sad beginning, but the subsequent truth is that he was then adopted into a loving hom that recognized his true potential and accepted and loved him for who he is.

Similarly, you can examine, deconstruct, and reconstruct your own origin stories. Doing so dramatically changes the way we interact with the world and creates ripple effects through our manifested reality, attracting experiences and people that are more in line with who we really are in the present moment and who we are becoming as we move forward into the future.
