Click Here for a FREE psychic reading right now at PsychicAccess.comSocial-distancing and being quarantined at during the Covid-19 pandemic, is the ideal time to embark on a major de-clutter and clean-up. By doing a thorough cleaning and clutter clearing clutter now, we can open up the flow for positive energy to flow through our homes, offices and lives once the quarantine is lifted.

To make the most of such a spring clean, consider applying some feng shui principles to rearrange your home. Many people’s perception of feng shui is that it is just a form of interior design, but it is actually an ancient spiritual practice and philosophy. It will literally open energy channels for abundance and prosperity,  as well as health and wellness to flow into your life.

Feng shui is a system of laws that govern spatial arrangement and orientation in relation to the flow of energy (chi). The aim is to create a harmonious environment that enhance the balance of yin and yang. It is about living in spiritual harmony with our environment.

When we apply feng shui to our home and lifestyle, we do so in order to achieve balance in both our working and living space, and maximize our potential for success in our personal lives and in business.

Feng shui literally translated means ‘wind water.’ Wind scatters energy and water holds energy. In applying its principles, we can clear out negative energy and generate more positive energy.

You do not need to have a deep understanding of feng shui principles to start applying feng shui in your home. Just say you believe in universal energy flowing through everything, and then embrace feng shui in your home remodel or redecorating ~ Rodika Tchi

The teachings of feng shui are quite intricate, and fascinating to study, but here are some of the basics I have learned over the years. I endeavor to apply these, to the best of my ability, to my home and office space, and have had much success with it.

The Front Door

Because the front door represents wealth, feng shui principles suggest it should be in pristine condition and the best-looking door in house, if not your street!

In order to draw wealth to your front door, make sure it is well-lit and place good fortune plants on either side of the door. Plants that bring good fortune include palms, money trees, rubber plants, peace lilies, jade plant, orchids, English ivy, and Boston fern.

Place a water feature somewhere near the front door directly in front, either outside or inside. It will attract prosperity and wealth.

The Hallway

The hall is representative of opportunities, and it is therefore important to keep it free of any clutter, in order for energy to circulate. Ensure where possible to put shoes and coats inside a closed cupboard, so that they do not disrupt the flow of energy.

Having a mirror and fresh flowers in the hallway will also uplift the energy in that space, and it will feel welcoming as one enters the home. We have all felt when the energy in a home or office space feel good, or not, as we enter.

The Kitchen

The kitchen area is often the hub of family activity and friends gathering together (and pets too if they are allowed). The kitchen is known as vital space in feng shui, because its energy is representative of nourishment and harmonious relationships for the occupants.

The sink and the stove or cooker should not be placed opposite one another as this can lead to arguments between occupants, because a fire and water clash is created! Too much red and black in the color scheme of a kitchen is also said to create a water and fire conflict.

The positioning of the cooker is said to be very important, as it is connected to the nourishment of the occupants. Ideally, it should not be placed under a window or directly opposite the kitchen door, much less the front door, because the energy that enters the home will be destroyed by the kitchen’s fire. The occupants may also experience health and financial problems.

The Living Room

There is emphasis in feng shui that the furniture should be in proportion to the space, for energy to flow freely. The main sofa should also be placed against a wall, so that the occupants feel supported, and furniture should never block doorways.

A good wealth generator in a living room is a lamp placed in the corner diagonally opposite the living room’s door.

The Dining Room

The dining table is said to be the area where we focus mindfully on what we are eating. To optimize the energy around the dining area, there should be a mirror on the wall reflecting the dining table. Placing fresh flowers on the table also enhances the energy.

The Bedrooms

Bedrooms should be of a light, neutral color to encourage restful sleep. Beds should have a headboard placed against a solid wall and ideally, the bed should not be in line with the bedroom door.

Bedside tables, either side of the bed are said to give support. To introduce romance, lightly fragranced candles and curvy lamps should be placed on bedside tables. Beneficial energy or chi is enhanced when it echoes the gentle flowing curves of nature.

The Bathroom

The bathroom door should always be closed and the toilet lid down, to prevent wealth and prosperity from being drained. Place some plants in your bathroom, as these soak up water, and water slows the flow of wealth being drained away.

The Front Garden

The garden represents our future. Ideally keep it beautifully planted, kept and tidy. Our back garden is representative of both wealth and health, and so it too should be kept in pristine condition. Well-maintained boundaries and fences are said to offer energetic support to the occupants.
