Miracles Are Real

Our first family dog was a lovable, crazy beagle. She was the light of our lives and I adored her so much. She also reminded me of the power of intention and that miracles happen in our lives every day.

She was only six years old when she started showing signs of back discomfort. It was wrongly diagnosed and she was put on muscle relaxant medication, but it got worse. Eventually she could not move at all. That morning she screamed and was in so much pain, it was unbearable. I begged the vet to refer me to the specialty animal hospital.

I needed to do all I could to save her life. She was part our family and I couldn’t imagine life without her. So, I rushed her to the city, once I got the referral. When I walked in, carrying her, she was seen immediately by a neurologist.  Thank God for him. He took one look at her and sedated her, as she was in so much pain. He then did a brain scan, to see what the problem was.

The magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scan showed she had a herniated disc in her neck. The MRI also showed a piece of bone that had somehow broken off and had moved into a dangerous position. Fortunately, the vet said the cervical spine was the better place, rather than lower back, to have this kind of problem, as treatment and recovery in this area is more likely to be successful.

He did add, however, that the little piece that had broken off was too close to her spinal cord and had moved, so he could not get to it during surgery. He would have to leave it where it was, since he was not able to reach it. He said it may cause her some discomfort, but nothing more. He said it was possible it could shift over time, but hopefully would not cause more damage.

So, I said yes to the surgery. I just had to have faith.

The next morning was her surgery, they had kept her sedated and sleeping all night. I waited at home, after I took the boys to school. I was waiting for the call to hear that the surgery was complete. I was anxious and teary-eyed, but I closed by eyes and prayed.

I then also began to do Theta Healing on my dog. Theta Healing is a holistic healing modality where one enters a Theta brain wave state through meditation to facilitate healing. This intuitive healing work takes much focus and intent. Most of all it takes pure love, and that was the strongest emotion I was feeling at the time.

I focused intensely on that chip of bone that was astray in her neck, and I pictured it in my mind. I could see it. I sent it energy and light, and prayed somehow that it would be freed and not harm her. I have never had such clarity when focusing on something like this, and I could actually see it and visualize it. I visualized it gone and my feelings were so powerful in that focus, I held it for the longest time. Tears ran down my cheeks as I did so.

The call came soon after. It was the surgeon, who told me the surgery went really well, and that they had removed the disc.

“But the strangest thing happened,” he then added. “As a surgeon I cannot explain this to you. I have never had this happen in my whole career, but as I had almost completed the surgery and we were getting ready to close her up again, I swear to God a miracle happened on that table. I don’t know what else to call it, because what happened was not really possible from what we saw on that MRI. Remember that small broken piece that had moved, that I could not get to? Well, it actually just fell out of your dog’s neck…into my hand! Everyone here is in amazement.”

Tears were rolling down my face. Tears of relief, love, faith and everything good.

Then I told the doctor my part of the story, and how I totally believe in miracles. “While you were doing surgery on my dog, I was praying, and doing an intuitive healing visualization. I didn’t know for sure how any of this would happen, but I prayed that it would,” I said. The vet was speechless.

My little sweetheart dog recovered fully! She was soon able to run and jump again, and be her crazy, wonderful self for many more years, before we finally had to say goodbye. She lived a full life and gave so much love to our family. She also brought me another precious moment where life showed me miracles are real.
