Understanding the concept of prosperity is just as important as pursuing prosperity. In the past several years I have had the opportunity to speak to some very wealthy clients. In discussing various topics with these individuals it is very clear that prosperity has nothing to do with the amount of wealth someone holds. Money is certainly an aspect of prosperity, but it does not bring about prosperity. For example, individuals who have sacrificed relationships and freedom for the sake of financial success are not individuals that I would consider prosperous.
Prosperity is not gauged through the amount of money in your bank account, but rather the conditions of your life. I define prosperity this way: it is the ability to find fulfillment in all areas of life. So here are the five strategies of prosperity thinking that I have found bring about prosperity and abundance.
To be what we are, and to become what we are capable of becoming, is the only end of life ~ Robert Louis Stevenson
Faith And Belief
Faith and belief go hand in hand. Faith is a constant, whereas our beliefs about life often shift throughout our life experience. We come from an unlimited source, and it is my personal belief that we are still connected to the limitless nature of our source. The faith dynamic is such that we get what we believe.
So, when we experience lack related to our circumstances it is often motivated by a belief system. For example, I have worked with many clients that believe that their relationships never work out. They constantly draw relational patterns within their life that confirm this underlining belief. So, in this example the faith is the external manifestation of the belief system. They draw individuals to themselves that confirm this belief and thus deliberately create relational situations that do not work out.
The same is true with all areas of prosperity. When I was growing up a common adage in my family was, “Money doesn’t grow on trees.” I believed this for many years until I lived next door from a peach orchard. The owners of this orchard were not extremely wealthy in comparison to some of my wealthier clients and friends, however they were very happy with life and their situation. They had everything they needed, and more than they could want. They were able to give freely from the abundance that they had, and their primary source of abundance were those peaches. One day I was looking out at the beautiful peach orchard and heard, “You see, money does grow on trees.” It was amazing how fast my financial state shifted related to a shift in my own thinking about life.
So, if you ever think that money doesn’t grow on trees remember that you come from a limitless source, and there is limitless abundance on this planet. If you are having money issues it may just mean you need to find your peach trees.
Real success means creating a life of meaning through service that fulfills your reason for being here ~ Oprah Winfrey
If you do not have an official gratitude practice I highly recommend starting one. I recommend making a commitment to do a gratitude list every day. Find five things throughout the day to be grateful for in your life. Gratitude shifts our conscious experience from what we perceive as missing in our life to what we actually have in our situation.
Often the primary factor in a lack of experiencing prosperity is not a lack of circumstance or substance, but rather a lack of recognition for what actually is. Once an alignment is created with the good that already exists in life, then more can be added. When the more is added to your experience you will be able to perceive this increase, because you are already looking out for the good in your life experience. There is a Chinese Proverb that I came across yesterday that said, “Do not count what is lost, count what remains.” This goes along with the idea of recognizing what is good in our situation, and allow that recognition to supersede what is perceived as lacking.
Since it is you that determines success, find individuals that model the success you are looking to achieve. I surround myself with loving and happy people. Most of my friends are very funny, and we enjoy lots of time together laughing and carrying on about the wonders of life.
One thing that was important in my development was to find happy people that did not need a substance to stimulate their happiness. So, when I developed my family of choice I looked for people who were organically happy. I also have a lot of friends who are psychics, astrologers, and mystics. The reality is that these types of individuals may not embody your type of success, so make sure that you see out individuals that model the type of success you desire.
People take different roads seeking fulfillment and happiness. Just because they’re not on your road doesn’t mean they’ve gotten lost ~ H. Jackson Brown, Jr.
This is a huge one, especially in the Western culture that attempts to promote an ideal image of success. As I stated before, the amount of money in your bank account does not determine your level of success as it relates to the idea of being prosperous.
If you are seeking true fulfillment it is important not to buy into the idea that something external can make you successful. Success is determined by the internal state of an individual. So, if you are happy, and have what you need in life, you are successful. Don’t assume anything external can make you happy. Happiness is a choice that we make each day of our lives.
This one is crucial to being prosperous. We will never find any level of happiness or success until we are able to love all of who we are. This includes our shortcomings and darkness. Of course, we do not live in the darkness, but to fully love ourselves we must unconditionally accept these attributes within us. Why? Because they are there, and because we are worthy of love.
It is only through loving ourselves that we will ever believe in ourselves, and we will accomplish little until we believe that we can. So, this is a crucial step in moving forward with prosperity thinking.
This list does not embody every idea or strategy to become prosperous, but they are the strategies that I have found most beneficial in my own journey. We each have a different healing path on this planet, and I would encourage you to find strategies that work best for you. My prayer is that each person reading this article will find the strategies that work best for their own journey on this planet.
